She had engine oil dotted in places on her dungarees, and eyes of true, brilliant violet. "This is Scarlet. The young engineer I was telling you about on the phone, who designed our harbour-cannon. I thought it was high time you were introduced."

he's tired - heavy bags neath his eyes, luggage hanging off of all parts of him able to hold such a thing. a strappy-baby bag dangles from his shoulder, a few shopping bags from one arm - were he able to hold items off of his legs, he surely would have but instead, one is taken by his oldest, edlyn. the girl clinging to her papa's thigh; an eight-year-old so shy that she's quick to hide behind her dad when the ladies approach.

he'd have not bought his daughters with him today; he'd have left them in the care of his wife but alas, zhara is off mingling with edward in the not-so-far distance and such short-notice care for two young girls would be near impossible on a day as busy as today.

in his arms, he holds his youngest. a small baby (even smaller looking beside his great physique). the baby hiccups and murmurs, sleeps relatively soundly. is settled (thank the gods).

"scarlet-" he half-smiles, attention turning toward the girl - her beauty not so easily overshadowed by overalls and a mechanic's muck. god help her should she meet edward. he has to wonder if she's already had the 'pleasure'. no matter; heidegger finds himself barely stepping forward - he'd offer her a hand but both are occupied. as he moves in closer, edlyn moves along with his leg, the little girl now well and truly glued to her father.

"the cannon really is a marvel-" he clears his throat. powerful and certainly the sort of protection that the junon army needed but...

what would the ones shore-side say? what had they said?

"i think it's ugly-" pines edlyn, the girl too quiet to look anybody in the eye but her honesty somewhat refreshing.

"eddie-" he retorts, a smile turned from his daughter to scarlet "never mind her. surprised she can see it when she's always hiding."

seconds pass, seconds long enough for his daughter to sulk and for the future general of shinra's army to get a good look over the young engineer. she's almost too pretty for the job - pretty enough that the thought has him smiling to himself.

"your design truly is something special - the use of mako as its ammo is..." he adjusts the hold he has of his child, cuddles the baby close to his chest as eyes admire scarlet from top to bottom "brilliant."
