Trespasser Solas did not have to show sm affection to lavellan in that moment as it was easier for him to be distant (like he was during their relationship). He finally had a reason to behave like that, be cold and distant. Let her know "my mask is off. I was distant cuz xyz reason. Now you know it too. Hope everything makes sense now. Bye." But no. Also, being distant would have helped him with his ultimate plan, helped him focus on his main goal, so to speak. But instead, as soon as she gives him an olive branch, he is desperate for her to know that he always loved her, that he is a very affectionate man (quite literally pathetic for her if given chance lol), that she did infact changed everything for him.

Tonight in my sleepy thoughts I am reflecting on this post I saw a while back about how Solas is touch starved. (I can't find the original post now but shout into the void for said post). That during Inquisition it would be easy to expect that it's the inquisitor who is the one constantly reaching for solas but it's actually the opposite. Solas is always reaching and always wanting to be near. And it has me thinking about their dynamic post Veilgaurd. Like, did Solas up and abandon Lavellan for ten years? Yes, yes he did. Lavellan would be well within their right to have some abandonment issues and anxiety if they follow Solas into the fade. And yet I whole hardheartedly believe he's the one who gets anxious when she's out of his line of sight. He's the one that wakes up in the middle of the night (or whatever the equivalent is in the fade) panicked that she's gone and that none of it was real. That she didn't come with him and he's really alone. Or that she decided he isn't worth it and has left him. He's the one who begs her not to leave him when he's awake and when he's asleep. He's the one who needs consistent reassurance for a while before he starts to get a sense of stability again. I think Lavellan just learns to not get out of bed before he wakes up for a while. Anyway, I just think they are neat.
