AND IT’S MY WHOLE HEART, DEEMED AND DELIVERED A CRIME.
SERA.
‘You say it like it’s a B A D thing.’ & it is only to joke back at him, the tone in his voice would not suggest irritation like most. What she was up to was the question, apparently something with string. Waving her hand towards herself she indicates him to sit beside her, ‘You know anythin’ about tyin’ knots?’
` I HAPPEN TO be a master at knot-tying. one of my few talents, ` he replies, following her gesture and settling down cross-legged beside her. dokoran’s ears perk curiously, eyes shining mischievously. perhaps it’s unprofessional for the inquisitor to partake in things such as playing pranks on others, but... he needs to live sometimes, right?
INQUISITOR ANDROMEDA.
☆ | | She turns her attention to the elf that had appeared beside her, eyebrows raised like she was about to ask him a question with a gentle smile on her lips.
❝ I have plenty of time, which is quite a bit surprising, actually. What kind of request are we talking about, though ? I’m sure I can help. ❞
` DO YOU REMEMBER keeper haleir? the man whom sent you to me? `
while there is curiosity buzzing from him, there is also some kind of worry. unease. keeper haleir had been old, and he had no seen the man since he had been recruited. the keeper had insisted that he’d be fine on his own, that dokoran needed to move on from him and that he’d prefer to stay out in the wilderness, away from the war.
yet dokoran is full of concern over his well-being. certainly the inquisitor wouldn’t mind accompanying the elf to visit his keeper?
` i’m worried for him, and i wish to see if he’s doing well. i’ve traversed the wilderness of the hinterlands many times, but now with demons everywhere you look, i may need some company. `
` IT SOUNDS ODD. but fascinating, nonetheless, ` and he sits cross-legged on the floor of solas’ study, ears perked and head canted to the side. an idle smile plays upon his lips, but he is truly interested in what the other man has to say. solas has experienced so many things, how could he not be?
` ALWAYS UP TO something, aren’t you? ` yet his voice is not reprimanding. in fact, it’s full of amusement and warmth that only a few get to witness. around sera, he loses his closed off attitude and his nerves seem to go away. she has that effect on people, he thinks. ` mind if i join in? `
` INQUISITOR, A MOMENT? ` and he trots up to her, the tips of his pointed ears red. he grins out of the side of his mouth, a bit shy but still warm. he’s working on not being so distant and reserved with others. though, the inquisitor is a shem---it will take a little longer for dokoran to completely open up to her.
` i have a request, if you have the time. `
` I DON’T MEAN to sound too doubtful---but are you sure that will work? `
like this for a lil starter. length will vary.
THE IRON BULL.
HE is brought back to a time where he’d asked too many questions, only to get too few answers. He feels the whip on his back, the need to destroy, but the Qun is gone; he is here. The Iron Bull is no longer alone. It feels—good. A measured gaze is offered to Dokoran.
“ MY answer isn’t gonna give you any help, Boss. The Chargers and the Inquisition are two different things. You gotta figure yourself out. ”
AND perhaps his answer is harsh, but it’s all he can think of.
HE IS NOT upset at the answer. perhaps somewhat disappointed, but not upset. the bull is right---while they’re both leaders in their own respects, what they lead are entirely different. dokoran knows that, but it was still worth a shot to ask. the inquisitor gives a nod, a slight smile tugging at his lips.
` you’re right. i apologize. things have just been... trying, ` he laughs airily. after the events at halamshiral, he’s been wondering if things are playing out as they should.
` are you busy? ` because, honestly, he feels like drinking himself senseless. and the iron bull has always proven himself to be a good drinking partner.
"You have a little something --," Valeriu licked his thumb and moved to wipe the blood off Dokoran's cheek. ( i'm so sorry dokoran )
` OH? DO I? ` well, he had a little something just about everywhere. they had just got finished killing venatori, after all. still coming down from his adrenaline high, his chest heaves and limbs tremble but he manages to remain still for valeriu to wipe away the blood from his cheek.
dokoran leans forward on his toes, presses his lips to the corner of valeriu’s mouth tenderly. ` thank you. `

COME 2 THE BREACH IN 30 MIN FOR AN ASS KICKING
ENYA.
“ I think the Inquisition could be a start. ”
She tilts her head thoughtfully, drawing herself from resting on the books to unstacking them, instead setting them into a small pyramid of encyclopedias. For she is young and inex- perienced, filled with theory and very little practice.
“ They would listen to you. You have the power to kill them. You wouldn’t, but they don’t know that. It would catch their attention, then learning can begin. Once the Inquisition learns, so can the rest of Thedas. ”
` PERHAPS THEY’RE ALREADY learning, if they let me lead them, ` he responds gruffly, perhaps a little too bitterly. sometimes he feels more like a figurehead for the inquisition, while the advisers do most of the work. in fact, he doubts he’d have so much support without three human advisers.
but she is also right. dokoran does have that kind of power over them. if he wants to, he can make them learn. and he wants to. he wants to so badly, so that the sneers and the petty whispers behind his back will stop.
` i’m sorry, you’re right. `
ENYA.
“ But - they can’t truly be so terrible, can they? If they were, the second they saw that the Inquisitor was an elf, they would have revolted, shouted fire, and abandoned the effort, right? Hatred is the child of anger and fear, and fear is the result of lacking knowledge. And it’s not like they have an abundance of texts to read about the Dalish, so they have long been in the dark. If we just enlighten them… ”
For anyone willing to look at her vallaslin without immediately trying to kill or command her must simply be confused. In the dark. Without a teacher. Can a naughty child be blamed if they have never been taught? Hardly.
SICKNESS CHURNS IN his gut. oh, he wants to tell her just how humans have treated him, people like him. he wants to tell her of the horrors he’s seen, too many for one lifetime that have him waking up in cold sweat with a scream falling from his lips. but he can’t and she doesn’t deserve his anger, as she does not know.
` first, you’ll need to find someone willing to listen, ` he says gently.
ENYA.
The one marvelous thing about being with humans is the amount of books. The Dalish are largely oral tradition, and they can only keep that which they carry. Books are typically too much of a strain. Admittedly, Enya has made quite a mess of the floor, surrounded by history books. She folds her arms on top of a high stack, using it to rest her head and stare at the other elf.
“ We should teach them! I think they are afraid we’ll eat their children. Surely they are simply uneducated. ”
` UNEDUCATED, AND SIMPLY unwilling to learn, ` because what human in their right mind would be caught learning anything of the elves willingly? they’d be shunned. or perhaps dokoran is just bitter. there are a lot of memories he associates with humans, and not all of them are good.
a wistful sort of smile tugs at his lips. gaze turns away for a moment.
` yet, perhaps, when this war is over and if we both still live... `
