“Yeah, of course you found that exciting.” Adelaide was beyond ticked that that  had even happened in the first place. It wasn’t something that helped the whole cause of the town, but it had seemed to scare away her siblings —or maybe that was just in culmination of everything else—. Her glare narrowed on him after that as she spoke. “Don’t think there’s much left to figure out. There’s something out there willing to risk everything for the sake of destroying this place. Lucky me. And here I thought you were just some inconsiderate asshole.”

“It’s a small town, there’s nothing more exciting than a little destruction.” Elias pointed out, although nothing had happened following the days after. He at least hoped something else exciting would have occurred, but that would need to be left up to him and Beau to do. “I might be an inconsiderate asshole, yet you’re here giving me the time of day. You could’ve easily avoided me, and if this town is such a burden for you, why haven’t you left? Seems a waste to live forever and spend it in a town that’s doomed from the get go.”

It was like his face was begging her to punch him, and while Adelaide didn’t like resorting to violence (in most occasions), whenever she saw him, she was only reminded of the night that part of the city hall was destroyed, and along with it, the thought of having to kill her own sibling for a greater good kind of purpose. Maybe it wasn’t actually him she was reminded of, but herself and the monster she could truly be, and maybe she owed it to him. Or maybe, she just liked fighting fire with fire. “You’re still here? I thought this town was too boring for you?”

Their first meeting was one Elias couldn’t forget, not one to easily back down from a fight. Even the bickering ones he seemed to find as of late, none like the one with her though. He chuckled at the question, shrugging nonchalantly. “I might have found it boring and then it blew up,” Elias made a sound with his mouth, hands gesturing. “Made me want to stay and figure this place out a bit more. Plus, I thought you might miss seeing me around to much if  I skipped out early.”

alexxblackwell‌:

Alex laughed softly at Elias calling him his favorite brother, as if they had another one to pick from. “Glad to hear it, come on, you can tell me what you’ve been up to these last couple years.” Alex guided Elias to the bar where he took a seat and ordered a water for himself. “Whatever you want is on me tonight,” Alex said with a smile as he picked up the water he was given. 

“Sounds like the perfect plan.” Elias could come up with a number of things he’d done in the past few years, most of which included more and more trouble as time went on. He followed his brother to the bar, eyes refraining from the water order with them being at a fancy party. “Whiskey is fine. As long as if it’s the strong stuff, not whatever fake shit I’ve been drinking for years.”

“Of course, you must want to just relax after the trip here anyway. We should grab a drink and catch up, unless you’d rather just introduce yourself around.” Alex didn’t want to tie Elias up, even though he was so excited to see him again and be able to introduce him to his new boyfriend on top of that, but he wasn’t about to keep Elias from mingling with the rest of the town while he could.

“I could never turn down a drink with my favorite brother. There’s plenty of time to introduce myself to people tonight.” And after if he and Beau officially decided to move into town, at least more than temporarily. “I had a chance to try the newer stuff. That’s something they should have on the market somewhere.”

“Because that’s what we ned around here; more overly selfish people.” She tried her best to not roll her eyes, but it didn’t do her much good as she let out a sigh. “Thanks, because that’s exactly what I was looking for.” Her tone as straight-laced as ever, Adelaide stared back. “That’s because I am right. Who are you again?”

“You’re very welcome. Sometimes we need a good swift kick in the ass to let us know what we’re doing wrong. I’m glad I could help you with yours.” He stuck his hand out, ready to shake her’s for his own pure enjoyment. “I’m Elias, it’s a pleasure to meet you....You are?”

“Friendly competition, huh?” Beau began as he finally sat up, reaching for his own gut, his laughter shaking him to his core still. “We better step up our game if an explosion is what this town is used to!” There was no better news for the boys it seemed, as Beau finally glanced around to see the people around them reeling in pain. He felt a few cuts around, but nothing major, and certainly nothing he wasn’t used to. “God, I think we found our new home.”

“At least...” He started, sitting up and twisting his neck back and forth to see if anything hurt more than it should have, “be better prepared. I’d have for our streak to be lost against some vengeful wannabe.” Luckily, the worst of his injuries would be healed quickly, sitting far enough away to only really be hit by the blow back and small pieces of debris. A smile spread across his face, looking back towards Beau. “I couldn’t agree more. This might even be the best place to get settled a bit.”

Alex let go after only a moment, unable to really believe that Elias was there in front of him. “Yeah, it’s been just about four years now,” he said, looking off while he thought about the last time he saw his little brother. “You couldn’t have come all the way to Hawthorne just to see me.” Alex was sure Elias had more going on than just seeing him, he could have just called if he wanted to talk.

“Time sure does fly,” he stated offhandedly. The amount of time that passed only emphasized the differences that came along with it. His head shook, “I’ve forgotten how well you know me. How about we enjoy the party first? There’s plenty of time to get into the politics of it all.”

“Was that supposed to be a joke?” Adelaide continued giving into the farce as she stared plainly. “Yeah, you’re looking at the dawn of time herself, and I can assure you, I don’t make it all about me, so unless you’ve got another excuse, since you’re clearly not immortal, don’t be a prick.”

“Why would I joke about such a thing? I need my presence know in the most extravagant way I can possibly get.” Elias began to laugh, “Wow, and you don’t look a day over 25. It’s funny you mention not making things all about yourself, but this is borderline don’t you think? I make one comment yet somehow I’m completely wrong and you’re right.”

It was their code, something that Beau had promised to Elias and vice versa it seemed through their friendship. They protected each other, even when nobody else would. As he looked to his friend, nodding along with a knowing smirk, the explosion rang out, leaving him on his side as he groaned from the blowback. “Maybe somebody heard us and was finally done with our bullshit.” Beau uttered through a short breath, finding the humor while chuckling through the pain, the surprise being mostly something he had grown used to over the years.

The shock what happened wore off, head turning towards the other before a bout of hysterical laughter hit him. This was an entirely different experience than any town he’d gone too before. Typically they were the ones to cause the mayhem, not someone else. “Or we’ve got a little friendly competition after they heard us.” Elias didn’t want to move yet, still laughing at the realization this would be a new adventure he wasn’t quite expecting.

“Oh, you definitely did. Maybe your head was just so far up your own ass that you weren’t thinking straight.” She paused as she glared still. “And, for starters, a safe place for those of us who actually give a damn about anybody other than ourselves.”

“Maybe if there were a red carpet to announce my presence and lead me in the right direction it wouldn’t have been.” He shrugged, a smug smirk on his face. “I surely can’t be the only one who gives a shit about themselves here. This is a town full of supernaturals, some of which who have lived long enough to see the beginning of time.”

“No, definitely not. I think it’s a bit taboo around here, with the whole pack thing going on anyways. Plus, I think the vamps around here have a bad rep. Saw a few wolves giving me the stink eye already.” Beau jested in a slightly mischievous grin. “I think there’s a few drinks with out names on them, and then our misadventures can continue. I’m thinking having company over tonight, is that alright with you?”

“You don’t need to worry about them. We have our own pack in a way, whatever happens we can protect each other.” Since the day they met, it was the only constant he’d had for the other. “I’m not going to stop you--” Elias couldn’t finish as the explosion from the stage knocked his chair back, leaving him laying on the ground as he now stared at the ceiling. “What the fuck?”

Alex waved Dorian off with a smile as his boyfriend went to talk to someone else, taking a sip of the scotch that he had. He turned when a familiar voice cut through everything else, eyes wide as he saw his younger brother there. “Holy shit, Elias,” he said with a smile, pulling his brother in for a hug. “What are you doing in Hawthorne?”

He indulged in the hug, the all too personal affection faltering his mood slightly. “Can’t I want to see my big brother? It’s only been a few year if I recall correctly.”

“How…charming.” Adelaide began as she looked to the young man with a roll of her eyes before crossing her arms in a disapproving fashion. “This place is a lot more than just ‘real fucking alcohol’ as you put it so nicely.”

Elias couldn’t help but chuckle, barely into the whole party seen before being scolded at. “I’m sorry, must’ve missed the welcoming committee on my way in. Are you going to enlighten me on what more the town has to offer?”

“I’m starting to like the sound of that.” Beau nodded almost ceremoniously, the more deviant smirk pulling across his face as he glanced around the room full of formalwear. Perhaps he had just missed the memo, but he wasn’t leaving just yet. Not when there was fun to be had. “Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting around here, don’t you reckon? These people have no idea. Seems like the perfect place to wreck a little havok, break a few hearts, the whole ordeal.”

“There might be plenty of vampires and werewolves to go around, but never quite the duo we’ve managed to become.” Elias smirked, excitement about his new living situation only grew as the endless possibilities listed themselves in his head. “And what’s better than being able to get away with our mischief?”

“New town, same us. We can do whatever we want in this place and no once can say shit.” Elias leaned back in his chair, taking in the sight of the formal attire everyone wore. He hadn’t come prepared, the jeans and leather jacket sticking out like a sore thumb among the crowd. “Feels nice, doesn’t it?”

A few years had past since last seeing his brother, easily spotting him from across the room. He was the reason Elias came to town, waiting for the other to by themselves before approaching. “Hey, big bro. Long time no see,” he smirked, hands resting in his jacket pocket.

“Shit, if I would’ve known this bodunk town had real fucking alcohol, I would’ve moved here a lot sooner.”
