Social media has ruined activism in many ways, in the sense that WAY too many people think that "not engaging" with "something problematic" is activism, or discussing celebrities and their stances is activism, or that people who do/don't do these very specific and pointless things are amoral or corrupt or bad people... I know we say "go outside" as a joke a lot but genuinely so many people on the internet need to engage with the real world and get a grip on reality and how nuanced the world is and understand that the moral codes they've built for themselves and others online are completely and utterly ridiculous and are accomplishing nothing
