TADC Retrospective

NO SPOILERS

I am so unbelievably glad that The Amazing Digital Circus exists. From beginning to end, there has been nothing I hated about it. It genuinely feels tailor made to me, even if Goose and Glitch both have no fucking clue who I am.

I am someone who values communication above all else. Those who know me can attest to that fact. TADC embodies that value of mine in a way that truly and fully speaks to me.

There are so, so many moments in this show that make me tear up every time I see them. I see myself in all of the characters. The good, the bad, the beautiful and ugly. TADC prioritized making the characters feel human first and foremost. All of them make mistakes, all of them are discontent in some sort of way. Watching them learn to accept that was amazing.

The message of it all, “There is value in a stagnant life” is something I had to learn to embrace. TADC was the final thing that really helped me understand that. It helped me learn to be content with being simple. Yeah, I’ll still keep pushing to be someone great, but the lives that are best lived are ones that seek love and support, not fame or money. It’s a message I think everyone should hear. Just because you’re not a big shot doesn’t mean you aren’t important or valuable.

I have a lot of feelings about this show, but I doubt words could ever do it justice.

Thank you, Gooseworx, for creating a show with such a powerful meaning. And thank you Glitch, for platforming it and allowing it to become the symbol of independent animation. You all have given hope to the smaller creators of the world. You showed us that in a world where most complete animated shows and theatrical releases are from big name studios, something made of passion can still make it big.

You have changed the landscape over the past two and a half years, and it has been amazing to watch. I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
