HE/THEY. ⟩ though the mist might prevent some from seeing it, ELIO HUANG is actually a descendent of A P O L L O. it’s still a question of whether or not the TWENTY-ONE year old MUSIC COMPOSITION MAJOR from AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND has taken after their godly parent completely, but the demigod is still known to be quite EMPATHETIC & PRIDEFUL.

BACKSTORY—
elio was born in auckland, new zealand to a primary education teacher who taught year three and she raised him all by herself for much of his childhood. the two had a very close relationship, and was his only parental figure and friend for quite awhile as well.
he began to slowly lose his hearing at a very young age and was eventually homeschooled because all of the other kids did not understand his disability and it became difficult, which was difficult for his mother to have to teach a class and teach elio at the same time, but she managed to make it work and to him, she was the only superhero he needed. superman who?
he had gone completely deaf by his preteens and had become fluent in sign language although communicating was still a challenge because finding other people who knew sign wasn’t particularly easy to come by.
navigating life had already become increasingly difficult due to elio’s disability, but struggling with gender dysphoria at such a young age had also become a significant event in his life, which resulted in his coming out and subsequent transition in his teens.
apollo entered elio’s life in his early teens. he claimed his young sun in preteens and begun a more proactive role in his life after that. however, elio refrained from going to camp for awhile due to his difficulty to manage conversations with people.
his mom eventually remarried years later when elio was in his teens, which was nice because for most of his life, it was just him and his mom and it felt a little more like having a family. and it was good for his mom to have somebody since she spent so much time focused on him and only him.
he got his first cochlear implant in his mid teens and after the procedure, he went to camp for the first time. he eventually got a cochlear implant for his other ear a few years later, and the implants made having conversations a little easier.
getting cochlear implants made made navigating life a little easier, but he was still shy due to his limited communication growing up. he is able to talk and have vocal communication with people, but since he is self conscious about his speaking so he still communicates primarily via sign. he is still learning and practicing his vocal communication and will sometimes speak when he feels comfortable.
due to his sheltered life, elio is a very shy and reserved person, but he is very compassionate and loving, devoted to those he cares about. he had learned to channel a lot into different methods of art styles, particularly music. the audiokinesis abilities that he inherited from his father manifested interestingly in elio, which allowed him to pick up several different instruments, and he gained a liking to many different crafts, such as drawing, painting, sculpting, etc.
he’s started to come out of shell a lot more while attending eonia since his peers had made communicating a lot easier on him and a lot of people knew or were learning/willing to learn sign.
he is quite observant. since he was deaf, he could not hear other people’s tones when they spoke or when a person’s voice got louder or softer, so he became an expert and reading other people’s facial features and body language, and can usually pick up on a person’s mood or tell if someone is lying based on those clues.
PERSONALITY—
the way the sunlight streams glistens on elio’s face, a soft glow radiating his skin in beautiful gold hues that highlight his compassion and optimism. his features are soft and welcoming, showcasing his warmth and the compassion and empathy deep within, and yet they are sharp and bold, which is true of his inner strength and determination. he is happiness in the best ways. a true people person in every way, a giver and lover. he cares truly about the little things — the small talk, the deep conversations, the silent presence of another. he is the type to create for those he cares for, such as painting a photograph, writing a song, crafting a project.
ABILITIES—
AUDIOKINESIS: the most skilled ability elio possesses is his adept musicality and the manipulation of sound waves and music (or audiokinesis). despite being deaf, elio is a naturally gifted virtuoso, able to feel the vibrations of the music he plays under his fingertip. he is then able to absorb that sound waves that vibrate through his fingertips, and this helps him be able to play a multitude of instruments, primarily using this ability to enjoy music when he wasn’t able to hear any sound at all. he has dedicated a lot of time developing this skill and harnessing it to its full potential, becoming a fully dedicated musical artist in his own right, mastering several different instruments.
FORESIGHT: as the son of apollo, elio has inherited a skill in foresight, able to see events in the future. his precognition abilities are very limited, unable to control these premonitions and visions, such as when he sees them, what he sees and how often he sees them, but sometimes these visions can be important. they don’t happen too often so they can still be very difficult to understand at times, but elio does tend to overanalyze them.
VITAKINESIS: an ability elio has not really been able to harness to its full potential is his ability to heal others (or vitakinesis). elio has been quite a sheltered and peaceful person who had not been presented with the opportunity to heave to heal others, though he is compassionate and empathetic and would never hesitate to if he ever needed to.
