Happy birthday Tomura Shigaraki, and Tenko Shimura.
in 2026 DO NOT ask yourself whether your art is GOOD
instead ask:
is it SINCERE
was it CATHARTIC
was it FUN TO MAKE
is it MADE BY ME
and don't forget to stay silly
singletnormativity; proposal for a definition, and some examples
What is singletnormativity?
The concept currently has no formal, concrete definition, so let us propose one:
Singletnormativity is the assumption that everyone one interacts with is a singlet, ie is the sole occupant of their body. In other words, it is treating non-plurals and their experiences as the default and not accounting for anyone who falls outside that, consciously or not.
2. What are some examples of singletnormativity?
The assumption all systems possess (or should possess) a collective identity, a collective name, collective pronouns, collective labels, etc.
The assumption of a singular, unchanging presentation of identity in polls, surveys, questionnaires, etc.
An unwillingness to consider plural interpretations and analyses of media, dismissing them by deeming them "unworthy of exploration", accusing plural systems of "making everything about themselves", etc.
The assumption that plurality is always disordered, and thus must be diagnosed and treated so that the plural system can "return" to a state of singularity.
The belief that that state of singularity is inherently desirable to and good for all, making a lack of such a desire "unnatural".
A refusal to treat any headmates in a system outside of the one perceived as "the host" as people in their own right, dismissing any opinions and preferences they might express (or attributing them to "the host"), considering them to not be real, reducing them to imaginary friends and related concepts.
And more I haven't listed here.
Want to add:
Believing every system has a core alter, aka an alter that is the "biggest" in the system and holds the most part of one's identity
Thinking that all systems need to "acknowledge they're just parts of one person" (Many of us don't feel that way!)
Video game fictive culture is missing my game mechanics (but I have them in the headspace heh)
.
Felt this in my soul ~Sora.
maybe plurality is keeping different wallpapers ready so different folks can feel more at home in this life. Maybe plurality is gently taking someone’s hand in yours, even though both hands belong to the same body. Maybe plurality is calling out goodnight to the person that’s taking over for you as you slowly slip out of the conscious for the night. Maybe plurality is putting on the perfume your headmate likes because she’s definitely going to be helping you get through the day.
maybe plurality is kindness. A kindness of the brain extended to a tiredness of the soul.
maybe it’s casual. Maybe it’s gentle. Maybe we’re all still learning how to live with each other. Maybe we don’t have to be anything complicated and explainable. Maybe plurality just… is.

hey, fictives? it's okay to not want to be treated like a character, and to want to be treated like your own person. even if source is still a big part of your life and identity. even if you were alright with being treated like a character in the past. you deserve to have that choice at any time, and if anyone ever tries to treat you how you don't want to be treated, they're assholes. you deserve better than having invasive personal questions asked constantly, than being used as a trophy or trinket or a sex object. (and hell, you don't deserve that even if you do like to be treated like a character.)
Consume the Darkness, Return it to light.
We recently got a message from a family member that was rude. It was pretty fucken rude. In this message the person asked me why I’ve gone no contact with a side of my family from my very traumatic childhood, using gaslighting and manipulative phrases. The last sentence is what cut deep the most though.
If you are someone who’s been cut off by someone in your life and you don’t know why, there’s a few reasons as to why that may be,
1) You were directly involved and you were told many times. You chose not to listen.
2) You weren’t directly involved but you did the best you could to support someone, but the context brings up triggers.
3) you weren’t directly involved and you weren’t even there most of the time. It’s just definitely not your business anymore.
If you are someone who’s had to cut someone off I would like to remind you of a few things as well.
1) You don’t owe anyone an explanation as to why going no contact with someone(s)
2) no one wants to make this kind of decision and these decisions are weighed heavily. This is often a last resort.
3) it doesn’t matter who the person in your life is, if they’re actions hurt you and they are toxic towards you, they aren’t worth loosing your peace, and you absolutely deserve to put yourself first.
TLDR: mind your business and do what you need to do. Peace is the closure, and explanations aren’t owed to anybody.
We were talking to our (body’s) mother, and she gave me a new perspective on being a system and a beautiful way of explaining being a system.
We collectively are a work of art in the form stained glass, we’re not broken but each alter is a beautifully coloured piece of glass arranged to make a masterpiece.
We’re not shattered. We all make up the big picture. ~Tomura
As a fictive who’s connected to source but also removed enough that not all my views are the same as my “character” it’s funny watching source sometimes.
I’ll be watching source and the me on the screen will do one of his “evil schemes” and I’ll be thinking to myself “yeah that’s something I’d do… IF I WAS FUCKING INSANE”
TLDR: watching source is fun, but also a slippery slope into questioning what kind of person I am and if I’m even who I say I am, because I am, but I’m different too…. ~ Tomura
We’ve been seeing a lot of people tell others their lives experience isn’t true….
We’ve been seeing a lot of people tell other systems that they’re not systems,
How do you know? Shut up. The only experience you can speak on is your own.
Try being open minded instead of a judgemental asshole. ~ Sora.
“fake disorder cringe” has us losing our mind so we're going to just say a few things:
systems can have alters younger (and older) than their bodily age.
systems can have nonhuman alters and introjects from controversial or modern-day medias.
systems can have alters that aren't the same gender as the body or use different labels.
systems can have high alter counts.
systems can want to change their appearance (using wigs, makeup, fake piercings, etc) depending on who is fronting.
systems can post about their personal experiences with their disorder and be open about having the disorder.
systems can have a complex headspace or no headspace at all.
systems can have varying degrees of dissociation and memory loss.
systems are not always aware of who is fronting or who they are.
systems can refer to their alters as anything they feel comfortable with, whether it be alters, headmates, parts, or even something like rats.
systems can realize they're a system at an early age or be unaware/in denial for a long time.
systems can go to parties, drink, smoke, and do “normal” things that singlets do.
system alters can have positive triggers.
systems can have times where their alters rapidly switch or their fronting room is crowded/overwhelming.
system alters can have varying levels of communication with other alters.
i shouldn't even have to say this one, but systems can have dyed hair??
tldr: if you don't have the disorder, don't speak on it. fake-claiming does more harm than good.
If you can’t be in a persons head you can’t make a claim on their lived experience.
Being a system sucks sometimes for many reasons, but I love my alters, and I love all my head mates. Even when I don’t understand them.
Fuck it. Go have fun with your system. People tell you that you're roleplaying because you have odd/cringe experiences? Fuck them. Your experiences are real. And regardless, roleplay is available to everyone and is a fun past time, even if you ARE roleplaying about your system. Go system hop, date your headmates, get overt with it, obsess about interests (which if you're an introject, may be yourself). Life is too short to be worried about haters hating on you. What are they gonna do? Send a hate anon? Ohh I'm so scared~
As someone who was semi aware of their system growing up (but not exactly what that meant) I would tell people that to help me cope I had “fictional characters” help take care of me and help me through my life. Everyone around me said I had an over active imagination. Chalked it up to kids being kids and a well developed imagination. I was trying to describe a trauma based disorder to people who only say the “fictional media”
System not so hot take, saying you’re a system without trauma is like saying you got autism from vaccines so yeah maybe do research if you genuinely think that
Say it louder for those with schmutts in their ears!
Heya, we’re the Elite Decay System and we’re happy to be here on tumblr. We wanted a place to document our thoughts, feeling and experiences with our diagnosis, and life in general as a DID System.
So quick housekeeping…
Were diagnosed with DID and had been semi aware of our system for all our life. We weren’t taken seriously about our experiences until adulthood when we just happened to get lucky. Living undiagnosed sucked, the medical gaslighting made things worse.
We’re a Fictive heavy system. IT SUCKS. Tons of people in the world are raised more by fictional media and the internet than they are real people, you add trauma from a young age into the mix and the math checks out. Our page is a fictive safe space.
Friendly reminder that just because a Fictive is whomever they are doesn’t mean they’re EXACTLY like their source, and should be treated like a regular person. Harassing a fictive about their source and how they interact(ed) with others in source could make them uncomfortable. And it doesn’t mean they’re your Favorite character. They’re not. They’re an identity made based off of the needs of said system.
Our body is trans and uses He/him and They/Them pronouns.
