Do you have any advice on finding a sponsor (I'm in the US)
I’m afraid we’re not well suited to advise on the subject because none of us have had any experience with the falconry system in the US. Sadly it’s vastly different from the UK so all we can do is recommend that you do plenty of research, perhaps trying the NAFEX website. Sorry we can’t be more help.
Look at Nafex. Join Nafa. Join any hawking association in your state. GET YOURSELF OUT THERE. That’s how U found mine!

Quick example of the amazing camouflage capabilities of the white faced owl. Course it would look a lot better if they were in a tree blending in with the branches. Instead of on a glove trying to hide from gulls 😂

where are you located, and do you take apprentices?

We are located in Scotland, just outside of Kirkcaldy.Â
We don't usually take on apprentices but we do always have openings for volunteers. We take on anyone regardless of their skill level so long as they are keen to learn and they receive as much training as they are willing to take on. It's all about the time you are able to put in.Â
I myself started out as a volunteer and now I'm a full fledged falconer!Â
It's always good fun getting shots of the hawk owl in the woods. She looks so at home.
Which raptor is your favorite?
The Harpy Eagle!!!They are breathtakingly beautiful, powerful and majestic birds. I would love to work with them some day or go to see them in the wild.
