Rosie blinked in shock. Swallowed and whispered, âOh.â That was not-that was not something she had considered. Filleted open. Like wings. She supposed, dizzy, that that explained the blood.
Ava, at her side, suggested that she had perhaps underestimated what was going on here. It was not as easy as it sometimes was to ignore her.
Not considering at all what she shouldnât say, she answered honestly, âNo, I didnât see her. Not like that anyway,â she answered, voice distant, floaty. Or, maybe, it was her that was floaty. Rosie was unsure. âDo you think-was it religious in nature or a mockery of her character?â
She stared at the other, confused at how she was able to believe that there was some sort of religious factor. That thought would have never crossed Lizâs mind nor did she believe it. âNo. I believe that someone did it for their own reasons that weâll be able to find out once we find them. I donât like jumping to conclusions until I have enough information.â Liz paused, thinking silently for a moment. âDid you do it?â
