thomas sat on the lobby couch waiting for eliza as he absentmindedly checked his e-mails. the whole united nations diplomat seemed to never let him take a break, there was always something or someone needing his quick and utmost attention. however, through the years, he had learned to tear himself from the job from time to time to dedicate himself to eliza and their children. they were his reason to do everything he did after all. tom played with the knot of his tie, loosing it up a little as he caught sight of eliza walking down from the elevators. he instantly got up from his seat and walked over to her, taking in the sight of his beautiful wife. it was amazing how no matter how many years went by, he still seemed to be absolutely head over heels for her. “hi zelda,” he replied, kissing her back softly. “bit busy as always, what about yours? and you’re the most beautiful woman i’ve ever laid eyes on. now shall we?,” he finished, wrapping his arm around her waist as he guided her to the car already waiting outside. 

elizabeth was nervous to be back at oxford; it brought some good memories such as the time all of her friends lived together and helped her get out of her comfort zone but it also brought terrible memories such of heartbreak, death and dethroned. overalll she came to spend some quality time with her husband and show her children where they studied despite the fact they were too young to comprehend. if anything eliza smiled brightly up to her husband; she always felt at ease and safe around him.  the blonde wouldn't had expected this to be her future yet she was grateful that it was. thomas who is the love of her life and her beautiful children  are her entire world and both mean everything to her. “ at some point you should rest, i don’t wan’t you to facial paralysis due to stress” she commented, leaving absolutely no space between them, walking to their car. “i actually had a busy day but nothing i can’t handle. but thank you for calling me the most beautiful woman  - it truly makes my day”  she stated reaching to their car as the valet boy opened the door for her.

“don’t rush me. or else I will look horrible.” The woman speak up as she starts curling up her hair, eyes looking at the other through the mirror. “and we don’t want THAT.” eliza laughs gently, picking up some earrings and starts putting them on. “besides, no one gets early to a  college reunion. ever.” as she finished putting them on; eliza turned around to grab her daughter stephanie who was craving some attention. her son lucas was off sleeping peacefully. “it’s been awhile. how are you my dear?” she asked  offering her signature eliza smile

it was silly to be nervous, right? after all, it was just thomas, her husband, her best friend and father of her children. - the fact that this was a date shouldn’t have changed anything at all. they had date nights like this countless of times; always dedicating time for one another. especially since both had a very busy schedule. elizabeth was checking herself out in the mirror and looked over the outfit she decided on - a navy blue ruffle cold shoulder maxi dress, it was floor-length silhouette with easy wearability and a touch of elegance. “oh dear, how are you going to tell him?”, she asked her mirror-self and chuckled softly. eliza was once again pregnant; she should have known with the hole morning sickness, headaches and even missed period.  the blonde had taken the test when amara had suggested the possibility and it was positive.  her dear friend amara decided to take the kids out for the carnival; while jaqueline babysitted luke back at the room. overall  this was the perfect time to tell him and she couldn’t contain it any longer. eliza headed down to the lobby to meet up with her husband. a hand went through her hair as she spotted the man of her dreams and a smile spread over her lips. she headed towards him, admirably taking his physic in. “hi love, how was your day? you look handsome as always”  leaning in to kiss him softly.

there was a voice inside tom’s head that yelled for him to get out of there. he couldn’t stand to be so close to eliza and still ignore the heavy atmosphere that had settled between them. it made him want to crawl out of his skin, it made him want to run back all the way back to scotland and hide under his mother’s skirt like a trembling little kid. and it wasn’t like he wasn’t familiar with fucking things up, he did it basically on a daily basis. but disappointing someone he cared so much about, that was a different story. 

the fact that eliza couldn’t even bear to look at him was what finally made him snap. closing the refrigerator door rather abruptly, thomas turned to look at her. usually, he dreaded confrontation, but his blood was boiling, pushing him forward. “look, i’m sorry about… about… the thing.” he couldn’t even bring himself to say it. “i get it if you want to be pissed at me.”

eliza kept her distance and made sure to count the minutes; she just wanted to be far away from thomas until she felt she was strong enough to be this close to him again. it hurt her to admit it but she was still angry, upset and most of all she felt used.  the blonde had already taken out her feelings  in her writing, by running every morning and most of all by punching the walls and making her so organized room a mess.  some part of her should have expected him to screw up however she wanted for once  to grant him give the benefit of the doubt. ​ after every little moment and spoken words this two had shared it felt so distant. 

if she looked at him; eliza had to admit her feelings once more and she wasn't ready for it. the girl jumped a little, not really expecting his sudden outburst.  the blonde fixed her glasses and tugged the sleeves of her sweater; trying her best to cover up her shaking hands.  she didn’t want to do this not here and not right now. “about what thing exactly? the cocaince usage or the fact that you hooked up sabrina? or both? or better yet when you kissed me and danced the entire night away  she rhetorically asked not really expecting him to answer. eliza’s tone was now bitter and if anything she was trying her hardest not to lash out. “ i don't want to be but i can’t help it. do you know how....” she was shaking. words all of the sudden where hard for the writers to speak. “ do you know how stupid i feel? heck to think that someone like you could ever truly like somebody like me. i was truly an imbecile to think that.”  she said looking up at him feeling her brown eyes getting teary.

‘you took a trip back home?’ alyssa said with a small, tight smile. she had no idea whether or not she had known this information prior to her “accident”. ‘it’s really alright, my hospital room was way too crowded apparently. i of course had no idea who was there most of the time, anyway.’

“yeah; with everything that was happening here i thought it was the best decision” she truly didn't want to get in with the mess she found herself in with their fellow friend thomas. “hopefully you remember who i am; and i thought it was bets to grant you space. i imagine it could have gotten a little bit overwhelming”

          EVER SINCE LYSS had been in the hospital, tavia had been having a hard time sleeping. she laid awake at night and only got a few hours before she was up again. she’d stepped out onto the front steps and was surprised to find eliza awake as well and she nodded softly at the girl before sitting beside her. “ i wouldn’t judge you if you had locked yourself out, anyway. we all have at one point. ”

lyss being at the hospital, thomas avoiding her and not seeing tavs as much as she was used to felt so strange. in some way their lively home didn’t feel like home anymore. “thank you for not doing so; what are you doing up so early?” she asked offering her friend a soft smile and offering a space to sit right next to her.

tom knew he couldn’t avoid eliza forever. hell, they lived in the same house, of course they were bound to cross paths at some point. however, he made quite an acceptable job at dodging their inevitable encounter by spending way too much time at the library and then running to amara’s flat whenever he couldn’t fill his time with poorly written essays. the whole thing made him feel like a miserable teenage boy, the one he thought he wasn’t anymore. 

“hi,” he muttered, offering half a smile as he saw her standing in the kitchen. it would’ve been useless to run and hide in his room, although he considered it for a second. “i’m just gonna heat up some nando’s very quickly, won’t bother you.”

avoiding thomas was becoming easier than eliza thought. after receiving the blast by the gossip blog the blonde was exposed to the truth. to say the least she was immensely hurt and quite honestly felt used. eliza had placed her heart on the line and confessed her true feelings just to be hurt again. in most occasions she would have gotten drunk or high and depend on sex to feel numb but she stopped herself from going back to that path. was it all a game? was she some girl on his list?  however everyday was becoming a little bit easier; she would go to her classes and from there to her favorite coffee shop to do homework and later on the night go back to her room. it had become a simple yet organized routine. 

“ hey.” hearing his voice for the first time in awhile killed her little bit inside.  she made sure not to meet his gaze; the blonde couldn’t bare it.  she kept looking at the stove hoping her tea would hurry up. “its alright; is your kitchen too.” it was all she could say; eliza started playing with her selves out of nervousness.

“i don’t know why i’m so nervous about this,” eliza rambled over the drink she’d ordered while she tried to calm her nerves. “i’ve been interviewed plenty of times. i don’t know why this feels so new to me now.” @danaloric
