BACKGROUND

Ellana was born in the UES of Manhattan on January 25th, 1997

She’s from a well off family, her father Harold is a famous archaeologist with a whole bunch of discoveries under his belt

Ever since Ellana was young, she loved adventure from her dad

She’s a daddy’s girl for sure, she always bonded with him and he made her love the wonders of the world

She wants to follow in his footsteps and travel the world and become and archaeologist herself one day

When Ellana became a teen, her adventures became more risky as she began doing parkour

Sneaking out of her room and learning how to climb between buildings and jumping between them

Her father caught her one time and decided to take her with him on some of his excavations where he taught her how to get around without getting hurt after she went through some proper strength training

Her first adventure with her dad was when she was at the ripe age of 16

Ellana’s relationship with her mother is simple but her older sister and mother get along more than she does with them, given they’re more into the luxuries of life such as shopping, galas, etc

When Ellana was 18, she was on her way home from her senior year of high school to find that her father was dead. A crime scene was at her apartment buildings and she was informed that her father had killed himself with a gun

Ellana was shocked, she couldnt grasp that her father had killed himself, especially when he was on the verge of a new discovery that he was excited about

For months and months, Ellana read through her father’s notebook which was stored in a safe pace only the two of them knew about and hint after hint she eventually put together that he father was indeed murdered for the very artifact he was about to find, one that was worth billions

CURRENT LIFE

Ellana studied archaeology in college at Princeton University while also researching her father’s findings 

She made it her mission to find the artifact that got her father killed and figure out who killed him

Once she got her degree, she traveled to several different countries to learn about the artifact and gather more information before she began entering several tombs and historical areas to find them

She then found herself caught by the people who killed her father, now out to get her

Her search turning south, she ended up coming face to face with a violent group of people who were desperate to find the artifact and after getting into an altercation, she knew she needed to plan better which brought her to Silver Lake

Silver Lake is where Ellana is choosing to hide in the Oasis Apartments

Even though she could afford a better place to live, given that she inherited 50% of her father’s fortune, she didn’t want to live anywhere flashy with the risk of being found easily

Ellana is currently trying to figure out who these people are and why they chose to kill her father before finding out that it was her father’s best friend

Now she’s laying low and trying to come up with a better plan to get the artifact without risking her life in doing so

PERSONALITY

Ellana loves life and all the value that it has to say the least

She can be your greatest friend or your greatest enemy

Ellana is loving and caring and she’ll always crack a joke to create a comfortable atmosphere for the people around her

Although she carries a lot of grief and worry, she typically has a smile on her face and thinks life is too short to live it sadly

HOBBIES

Ellana does parkour in her free time, given her nature and also it’s easier to climb into tombs and ancient caves knowing how to do parkour

She is also proficient in jiujitsu along with boxing from a young age, her father instilling in her that there’s nothing more important than knowing how to defend yourself, so to say the least, she is a fighter but doesn’t go around fighting people unless its to defend herself

August gave the brunette an impatient look as she rambled on, looping in circles around actually answering the question. “Right. Well, we both know that you didn’t answer that on purpose. But whatever, I just really don’t want to wait around to see my father, so…..work away, criminal girl,” she said with a shrug, an over dramatic sweeping gesture towards the windows accompanying the words to invite her to do her potentially (definitely) illegal thing. “If an alarm goes off though, I”m bolting,” she said a beat later, mostly kidding. She was pretty sure he didn’t have an alarm system, but even if he did, she could figure out the code. She more just wanted to see the other’s reaction to the potential.

Letting out a laugh at her new nickname, Ellana figured it was well fitting with the conversation they were having. “As you wish.” She said with a playful shake of her head. Making her way to one of the windows, she took a hold of it and shook it to see how sturdy it was, trying to find a point of break-in. Looking to her at the mention of an alarm, she scoffed playfully. “You better not sell me out as some intruder.” She warned. Ellana took a closer look at the window pane before playing around with it. “I doubt his security system would go off with this kind of window. I’d be surprised.” She pointed out.

there was an underlying question as to whether ellana had an ulterior motive . it was difficult for vale to trust anybody knowing that , when she was in a bar setting , hungry eyes settled on her body as wolves . there was a kindness to the other though , and sometimes you just needed to take a chance , leap into the unknown with the optimism that there would be a soft landing to break her fall . “ sure , “ vale answered , giving a nod of her head in the other’s direction , “ are you some kind of martial arts mastermind or something ?? i live with my roommate but i’m sure she wouldn’t say no to a bit of extra protection , y’know .. “ there was only so much pepper spray and keys between the knuckles could defend against . 

A chuckle of amusement escaping Ellana’s lips at her question, she raised her brows as she wasn’t sure if she could really call herself a mastermind. “Yeah, it never hurts to know how to protect yourself. I wouldn’t call myself a mastermind. I’ve been learning about jiujitsu from when I was young. I’ve worked as a personal trainer her and there, so I could definitely help you.” She shared openly. “It’s probably the best thing my father made me do.” She said, rarely ever bringing her father up in conversation, but if it was a casual statement it wasn’t a big deal, right?

“ alright . we just won’t get caught , “ there was a sly lift in his lips , a devious smile as his mind raced and thought of what mischief they could get up to . partners in crime , there were several abandoned buildings in the vicinity , each one somewhere you didn’t want to get caught . it was a good thing the pair were ballsy and unafraid to get their hands dirty . watching from afar as ellana tugged at the board , dark eyes ghosted over the entryway to hypothesise a way through . “ yeah , if you could just – “ things weren’t as easy as they once were . a year ago jaden could wiggle through any crack , crevice and gap in the wall , and although he was still rather fit and dexterous certain movements caused more exertion than they were worth . clambering over the fence had been mostly a job for his arms and upper body , but attempting to drag and manoeuvre his injured leg through the window seemed a little too far out the realms of possibility . with his hand linking with hers he hoisted himself up , clambering through the windowpane , setting the sole of his boots on untouched ground . “ do i still qualify as the coolest ?? “ jaden spoke , breathless , wiping his own palms against the dark denim of his jeans , “ god forbid i lose some of my street cred , “ 

“Now, that’s what I like to hear.” Ellana said, reflecting his devious grin with one of her own. She was grateful to find someone like Jaden around, it was rare to find others who were like minded in her adventurous tendencies. People who didn’t question much and just went with the flow. That was what she liked to see. Making sure she was settled on the ground as she supposed his weigh using her legs, she chuckled at his question once he hit the ground. “Of course, cooler than if you weren’t injured.” She pointed out. “What happened anyways? If you don’t mind me asking.” She said, wondering how he got injured in the first place.

“Sure, why not.” She offered a question in the form of something that sounded like a dare or a challenge, and Tyson was never strong enough to resist those. Forging ahead, he pushed the door open with his foot, it giving way easily. Entering the house, he took careful steps inside, leaving a space for her to follow. “Don’t go charging ahead, just FYI. Some of the floorboards give in and you’re gonna end up landing in the basement.” That’s how someone had ended up falling through the ceiling on Halloween, or so he’d heard. “I’m Tyson by the way. Or Ty, or whatever you like.” 

A smile spread across her lips as she followed Ty into the house once the door was forced open. Tilting her head to take a look around, she stopped shortly after him letting her eyes explore the run down home. “Figured as much.” She said at his statement. The entire house looked like it only had so much left in it before it caved in on itself. “Nice to meet you, Ty. I’m Ellana. Or El, Lana, Ellie. Pick your fighter.” She said with a slight laugh as she went further into the house. “People threw a party here? Seriously?” She asked curiously. What an odd place to have a party.

“If you say so.” He winked and then smiled as he tucked away his cigarettes.“ I came here at the beginning of the year. “I think January.”  Axel gave a shrug and then walked towards the house. “ I know his first name and that’s all I need to know.” He explained as he moved a broken fence out of the way. “ Ladies first.” He said stepping back to ket her through and then pulled out his phone  to switch on his torch. “ If any ghost kill me you are the first person I will haunt,” He murmured as he looked behind them to make sure no one could see them sneaking in. 

“How are you liking it?” She asked as they made their way to the house, wondering how long it would be before she got bored of hanging around Silver Lake. “Why thank you.” She said graciously as she moved her way through the broken fence and in turn holding it out of the way for him to pass through after her. Pulling up her camera app on her phone after, she pressed the record button and turned the camera to face them as she walked toward the house. “At least you’ll be one entertained ghost following me around.” She said with a slight laugh at her own joke. “Okay, so we will be exploring this abandoned lot.” She said to her phone as she turned the camera to show the house before turning to Axel. “Say hi to the viewers.” She said as she walked backwards towards the house. Turning her head, she spotted an entry point on the side, a broken out window.

no , she hadn’t learned how to fight , but that didn’t mean vale would shy away from a battle . like gladiators in the coliseum she was never sure what enemy she’d be up against each evening – a lion , a hippopotamus or a drunken , stumbling male desperate to get her phone number etched on a napkin . “ it happens often enough , “ vale retorted with a slight shrug , sheepish now she was getting called out on her intoxicated actions , “ – and i don’t know jiu jitsu , if that’s what you’re implying . i usually just punch them where it hurts or throw a glass and that seems to do the trick . i really need to invest in some pepper spray , actually . “ 

Hearing her answer regarding not knowing how to fight, Ellana nodded her head slowly taking another swig from her drink. “If you want, I’d love to teach you how to. I think if you run into these issues often, it’d be good for you to know how to properly defend yourself. You never know what... or rather who you’d run into.” She pointed out. “Especially if you live alone... not sure if you do but either way, it’s always better to know how to defend yourself than to just roll with the punches. But pepper spray is also a good thing to have.” She said in agreement.

          seeing ellana’s reaction made him take a few steps back. he hadn’t meant to be so confrontational, but his fight or flight kicked in the second he saw her trying to mess with what was probably the most expensive item in the store. “sorry, i didn’t mean to.” he muttered, teeth sinking into his lower lip. his gaze turned toward the gauntlet and he inspected it closely, noticing that it was in fact slightly out of place. reaching out, he very gently fixed it on its display. “there we go. now let’s just hope thanos doesn’t get any funny ideas.”

          his brow furrowed at her question, combing through the rolodex of his memories for any signs of the girl’s face. “i…don’t think so? although i’m pretty imperceptive so if we have met before, i might not remember.”

“All good.” She said as she shoved her hands in the pockets of her leather jacket with a slight grin. Watching as he fixed the position of the piece, her smile spread wider as his comment, a breath escaping her resembling a laugh. 

Ellana thought harder as to why he was so familiar before a light bulb sparked in her head. Taking out one of her hands from her pocket, she snapped her fingers in realization before pointing at him. “Ah!” She exclaimed. “Brooklyn!” She exclaimed. “I asked you for directions in Brooklyn once I’m pretty sure and we had a brief conversation. Do you remember? Or am I coming off like a crazy person right now?” She asked, hoping she wasn’t wrong but she was almost positive it was him. She had pretty good memory when it came to faces and instances.

The only thing Baz hated more in the moment than his assignment was her joke. Not because it wasn’t funny, but because it was and he had been hellbent on being as miserable and unappealing as humanly possible during his stint at the kissing booth. If he had to locklips with weirdos, he was going to make them feel uncomfortable about it. 

“If it was a killing booth, I’d be more enthusiastic.” 

He might have even cracked a smile. 

“What did you get stuck with?” 

Chuckling at his answer, she nodded her head as she raised her brows understanding his point. “Yeah, can’t blame you. Not to make you feel worse, but I would not want to be stuck with kissing random people. I didn’t even know kissing booths were still a thing.” She admitted. “Which leads me to ask if anyone has tried kissing you yet.” She asked curiously. Hearing his question, she shook her head slightly as she spoke. “I didn’t sign up to volunteer and seeing your face right now makes me think that was a good idea.” She admitted.

He couldn’t keep this up much longer. Tyson laughed, and shook his head. “I’m just fuckin’ with you. That’s from Amityville Horror.” It was amusing though, to have had her think that, for however briefly. “Though, maybe someone’s been murdered in this one too, who knows. Sure looks it.” The way it stood, decrepit and abandoned, when every other house on the street was normal, certainly called it into question. “Still wanna go inside? Like I won’t stop ya, but you know. A lotta hazards in this place.” 

Hearing his laugh and him admitting to him fucking with her, she let out a laugh in return. “Good one.” She said. “Maybe not. Maybe they have been. In an area like this, it’s weird that this house hasn’t been resold. It’s likely something unfavorable happened here, but it’s finding out what. That’s the fun part.” She said, excitement in her eyes. “You’re not gonna join me?” She asked, a slight raise of her brow, her tone slightly challenging.

August ran her mind over the memories of the house - something she typically avoided doing at all costs, but at that moment, it was worth a shot. “I think all of them do,” she mused, a furrow appearing in her brow as she thought about it. Most windows did, didn’t they? Was it too obvious that these ones did as well? As the rest of the girls words set in, August re-focused her gaze on her, raising up one eyebrow. “Not to like, totally turn the tables here, but…pardon? You can easily break in? Should I be worried tat you’re the criminal here? Because you certainly sound more knowledgeable than me.” 

Ellana figured that was the case, but she wanted to make sure before attempting and failing when the blonde already knew the answer. “Good.” She said with a nod and just as she was about to start finding a break-in, she heard the other’s realization set in. A slight smirk appearing on her features at her question, she shrugged. “I mean, up to you if you want to be worried, I’m just trying to help you in the end.” She pointed out. “But most wouldn’t consider me a criminal, depends on your view of the world.” Was Ellana being vague? Yes. Was she doing it on purpose to fuck with the other? Absolutely. “So, you want me to get you into your house or what?”

With her comment, a light chuckle escaped him; answering her with a subtle smile, “I’ll be thirty-two this year.” Brandon had no qualms with mentioning his age. Over the last couple of years, he had even noticed a larger maturing within himself. And, he guessed, it may have been there for a while. With his father being how he was, Brandon had to take on some responsibility from early on in his life. Certainly, there were some aspects of maturity that he hadn’t given much effort to, but those would just be waved from his conscious for now. It was fine.

“Seriously though, I hope you’re gifted in parkour, because you might need to be for this one.” The last thing he wanted was to turn on the news and read that some woman fell into the basement.

“Thirty-two? C’mon, it’s way too soon for you to retire your adventurous years.” She said in an encouraging tone. Ellana could only think about how her father was when he was thirty-two, still going on pretty risky excavations. Then again, he had more to gain than just breaking into a ‘haunted’ house. “Parkour is my middle name.” She said, her voice drenched in confidence. It was one of the things she knew she could do well. “I’ve been in worse though, this is barely really much of a challenge. Or even a challenge at all.”

His mouth twitched for a split second, but not in disgust, as he was not at all surprised that the history of such a place may have bee, taboo, scandalous, or even morbid. Shep was no horror buff, but at the same time, he was in love with anything that had a rich and detailed backstory. It was the writer in him, but even if something was bound to give him nightmares, he couldn’t help but want to know when it was so obvious that it was a good story. He had no fantasy to be the next Stephen King, but it was very into the idea of adding another element to his otherwise sturdy ( and if he had to be honest, gaining on predictable) novels. “ I wouldn’t be surprised; it looks like something they’d investigate on Buzzfeed Unsolved.” He chuckled. As he snapped another phone from a slightly different angle, her question was one he’d heard many times, and never got tired of talking about. Sheppard loved what he did and that he was able to make a career off of something that so many people wanted, but was a dying media. “ I’m actually a novelist. ” He said with a hint of pride. It was so much nicer to no longer have to add ‘Aspiring’ to that sentence. “ And you?” he asked in return. “Are you a paranormal investigator or a real estate agent, maybe?” He guessed, his curious mind loving to figure these things out before he was told.

“Can’t say I’ve watched that.” Ellana admitted regarding Buzzfeed Unsolved. His answer caused an “ah” to escape her lips. It made sense why he seemed so interested in the story behind the house, nodding her head at his answer. “That makes sense. What kind of novels do you write?” She asked curiously. Once he turned the question to her, she parted her lips to answer however realized he was beginning to guess. “Nope, none of those.” She said with a slight chuckle. “Do you want to keep guessing?” She asked, wondering how she came off to people or what it looked like she did in her free time. Almost no one guessed she was an archaeologist. Then again, it wasn’t really a common thing for people to be or even guess unless the person in question was doing their job as an archaeologist.

did juniper fully know who nancy drew was? absolutely not. some sort of mystery solver, she’d assumed. not too well versed in the realm of novels – or whatever she was from. “have you ever seen that movie monster house? i know that it’s a cartoon, but i feel like that’s prime example of why you shouldn’t go in there. your foot will fall through a rotted old floor board and you’ll fall into a hole and become swallowed by the house, never to be seen again. i mean, if you really want to— i just wouldn’t recommend going in alone. buddy system that shit.”

The comparison to the animated movie was surely amusing to Ellana, a chuckle escaping her lips when the other mentioned her foot falling through the floor. “Is that something that happened before? Someone going into the house and disappearing?” She asked curiously, wondering if this was something that allegedly happened before. “Buddy system is a good idea, but I think falling through the floor isn’t that bad, it’s almost expected with a house as run down as this one.”
