Petition to change āhe looked at her like she was the sunā to āhe looked at her like she was the moonā and any other variation bc I look at the moon in wonder and love and amazement while Iāve only ever just squinted angrily at the sun
He looked at her like she was the sun, in that he never looked at her except in frustration. He basked in her warmth, he complained when she was gone, but he never looked. On days she was muted, he complained. On days she was stronger, he hid from her. He never looked at her until she was leaving, and in the beauty of the sunset he wondered how heād never seen her before.
dude
āRosa Parks didnāt stand up because she was tired/her feet hurtā is one of the most outrageous lies we tell children in the guise of history and it is so harmful. It takes this brave, courageous and intentional act of civil disobedience and makes it passive and unwitting. Rosa Parks knew she would be arrested that day and she made a choice to do so. She was already heavily involved in the Civil Rights movement when it happened. She saw the opportunity and took it because she knew she could turn it into a moment that would change history. She wanted to change the law and she got arrested so she could do so. It was not an accident and telling Black children otherwise teaches them that history just happened to them instead of telling them about a woman who put her life on the line to change an unjust law. It sanitizes her, turning her into a little old lady (she was 42) who was just tired after a long day of work makes her more palatable to white people and that is a disservice to her memory and her movement.
Reminder that Rosa Parks was a trained civil rights activist (secretary of the NAACP!) who boarded that bus with the specific intent of recreating what happened to Claudette Colvin, because Parks was considered more acceptable to white audiences.

Makes sense to me.
gaga: five foot two is great
Philando Castile, Sandra Bland, Mike Brown, Aiyana Jones⦠Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Tamir Rice, John Crawford III⦠We can continue this list forever. The list is so long that we can actually create a Museum of Victims of Police Brutality to let people learn how fucked up the things are. Those who criticize the protests have no hearts or brains or braveryā¦
Lovely.
What a punch
This is assault and illegal. He may spew nothing but bile but his right to free speech must be protected
Aināt nobody throwing him in prison, so his freedom of speech isnāt being violated.
Also, learn what speech is exempt from it, like, for instance, fighting words. Words that by their very utterance inflict injury, andĀ speech that incites an immediate breach of the peace, kind of like, yknow, saying you want to exterminate all of their kind of people. Basically, talk shit get hit is 100% protected.
I swear people that yell about Freeze Peach have no idea what it means. If you provoke someone and then they act on that provication, then itās on you, not them.
yes good
Hey free speech never came with a guarantee that you wonāt get punched in the face when you support some ignorant shit.
you are free to say what you want, but not free from the consequences of your words

the concept of a spoiled Black woman is so hard for ppl to grasp
white girls who dream of being rich, spoiled housewives? sure, they deserve it
Black girls who want luxury? lazy, gold digger, too stupid to have aĀ ārealā career, missing out on good men just bc they make less than 6 figures
people just expect Black women to be cool w/ slaving our lives away for no money
This is so sad but so true.
I always think about this. Itās so true.
I wanna know their names
Their names are Carlos Polanco, Carl Snyder and Alex Hall and they defeated the Harvard debate team on the topic of access to education for undocumented childrenĀ
Reblogging again for the names
reblogging twice so y'all fucking know
