A big thanks has to go out to these two girls, Anna and Emma who helped me out with my assignment! My original idea was to use my family because it's something that changes over time but we all still have accept each other no matter what and therefore that matches the theme of a time based artwork. However my brother works away and my parents were on holiday through the time I wanted to do the filming. But I had my friend Anna (left), stay with me and she has been my best friend since my earliest memories, so she basically is my family! She's very unique and out there so I thought her and her good friend Emma would be perfect candidates for the assignment and the idea which I was going for, which was positive, happy and quirky. So a big thanks to them for waiting for the set-up, getting soaked by cold water and coloured paint in my initial idea and also presenting themselves as lunatics for the sake of art!

Petra Cortright would have to be my biggest inspiration for this assignment and possibly my favorite artist I have discovered throughout doing Creative Image Communication. She is just so laid back and I love the fact that in an interview I read she only ever casts once and just improvises as she goes. That would have to be where I got my ideas from. I really liked the way she masked out the colours on this video and has replaced them with other footage. I have been trying to work out how to do it but after extensive amounts of research and limited time, I haven't been able to work out how to do it. That's why I chose to do the edits i did and I am happy with those as well. This piece by Petra is from the Martos Gallery 'Lonely Girl' exhibition. Definitely worth checking out, I enjoyed looking at Petra's work as it's so simple and quirky yet it still has such an effect on the audience. This is the program I used, Wondershare. It's straight forward to use and I found it easy to grasp. The amount of effects and edits you can put onto your project is pretty crazy, I felt like a little kid in a candy shop with the amount of effects I had to choose between. I still think I managed to do a pretty good job at utilizing most of them - haha. Would definitely recommend using this program on a windows computer. Despite the annoying watermark which I mentioned previously...

I still wanted to use the footage I had as the girls (Anna and Emma, a big thanks to them!) had so much positive energy shown in their dancing and watching them makes me want to join them! So instead of redoing the whole idea I decided to make do with what I have. I tried several programs such as Final Cut Pro and AVS video editor as well as a couple more on the macs in class. However Mac programs were no good to me, as at home I work off a windows computer, so I had to find a compatible program which works on windows. I discovered Wondershare Video Editor which I found easy to use and it had some good effects I could use. So since the original footage, I have tried to enhance colours to give it a more fun and quirky style and also to make it more interested than a white screen basically. I am pretty happy with the current outcome, only downfall is the darn watermark which I can remove due to using the free trial and not buying the whole program! Oh well, it's a work in progress.

After trying out my previous idea of throwing paint onto people, I came to realise that it's not as easy to do as it is to say. The image is an unedited snapshot of my video and as you can see there is paint, however it isn't as colourful as I had hoped. I was pretty disappointed by this so I had to try think of something else.

After today's seminar I have had deep thoughts to what i want to do. I still want to incorporate the paint being thrown onto people. But was maybe thinking of using a GoPro to get a personal point of view from the person having paint thrown on them. To go further into it and making more time I am considering adding dancing and music similar to Petra Cortright's work which we were introduced to in class.

I am eager to get started on this so that I can work out whether or not the idea will work and it also does sound quite fun to set up and do.

Today's class topic is glitching. I used the 1st image and put it into the drop box on the glitch creator then setting the strength of how much glitching I wanted there to be and the second image is the final result.

Personally, from other glitches I have seen that have been uploaded, this creator I used doesn't have an as good of an effect as the others however the same concept still stands and a glitched image has been created.

Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball Datamosh Comparison

Surely we have all seen the new and conflicting Miley Cyrus 'wrekcing ball' film clip. From learning about datamoshing today in class I thought I would Youtube it to get some more ideas about what it exactly is.

Datamoshing is a type of glitch art. Although despite a glitch being unintentional, datamoshing can be done intentionally as a form of art. There are apps you can use to datamosh your own videos and plenty on youtube and google you can view online.

I thought this one was interesting as you can have the contrast of the original video clip and you can see where the movement on the datamosh is coming from. Also who doesn't love to talk about Miley these days!

Speaking of glitches in class today and a glitch is 

'a minor malfunction, mishap or technical problem.'

As we can see in this image the glitch has made the sim invisible. This can be classified as 'Dirty Media' and this example also shows the glitches occurring in second life. The Sims would be the only second life game I have participated in. Throughout this unit I have been introduced to many other kinds of virtual worlds such as Stelarcs virtual world 'second life'. The Sims however is the one I am most accustomed to.

Through my brainstorming of the upcoming Youtube video which depicts time I have been going through previous projects I have done in highschool. This one was a photography assignment which had to symbol 'jump' so this is what my group and I decided on. Based on my previous post of the moving paint, this has a similar idea. We took several pictures which would have created a gif like effect if watched one after the other.

I think I want to incorporate something like this into my final piece, my brother has a go pro which I know takes good images/footage so I want to use that and create a sort of family affair come time lapse of change over time along with current art.

I have already posted this image previously but for some reason I can't stop looking at it. This is giving me ideas for my Youtube video, whether I can incorporate moving paint/something similar to show a lapse of time. Maybe I can archive it with the scroll through my tumblr page... Just a thought.

Ryan Roy's art really entertains me. I love his idea and the way he potrays it! In thinking about my Youtube clip, my idea so far is to have a scroll through my tumblr newsfeed to show how i've grown in what I know about art and different artists and ones i prefer/dislike.

I was researching collages and I came across an artist named Larissa Haily Aguado. She is a Spanish artist and does a lot of collage work. The first image is from her most recent art collection named 'Life is a Collage'. After finding out about her I looked further into her artwork and I really like it.

The second image is from her collection called 'Cool Cats and Hot Dogs'. It's basically animal heads on human bodies.

And the third image I have posted is from her collection called 'Animal Prints'. That collection has many entertaining images.

This is definitely a perspective/aspect of art i really enjoy. I will definitely remember Larissa Haily Aguado for future reference. Here is her webpage with all her art collections if you want to check out some more of her cool work!

I really like Harold Cohen's artwork. The colours and patterns created are really quirky. They remind me of when I was a child doing art at Primary School. Primary School holds a lot of good memories for me so seeing these images give me a feel-good feeling.

Another day at work... Making me think about the upcoming YouTube video we have to make which shows a representation of time. Filing paper takes a long time but my day feels like it goes really quick.

After some further research into Stelarc, I found his creation of a third arm which I thought was pretty nifty, makes the term ‘lending a hand’ seem more literal - haha.

I find Andy Warhols pop art really fascinating. He can take something so simple (such as a can of soup!) and create into something a whole lot more interesting and entertaining. He is probably one of my personal favourite artists which we have come across so far in Creative Image Communication.
