Mini 1 minute reflection video - Have a great summer everyone!
This is super belated, but I had changed my blog design some time ago but I never properly documented it! I originally had the first image as my pfp and the background was those dark leaves. I then changed it to the second pfp because I felt it better represented what I wanted to look like (I’m in the process of getting my hair dyed green) and I also changed the background to be a picture of my fish tank as it felt more personal.
This is my VERY rough draft for my Video Project. I’m reading aloud Rainer Maria Rilke’s Sonnet XIV from part II of Sonnets to Orpheus.
Here's some basic ideas I had for my graphic memoir so far
A few days rearranging and redesigning my balcony with me! I take you through my process from start to finish 🌷🌱Chris' Book Youtube Channel :)https://www.y...
I recently found this channel, benjiplant, and I LOVE his content. It’s a very relaxing plant care channel but he mixes in a lot of aspects of his personal life and his thoughts. He is honest with his feelings and how how he manages through his daily life, which gives it a very personal and confessional feel.
Apple Products have been known for a long time to have an exclusiveness around them. They’re incompatible with other general smart devices and there is a Apple user vs Android user mentality that pervades smart phone marketing.
These are my journal covers from the past 6 years. They’re sort of a graphic representation of myself from those periods of time.
It's once again almost midnight and I have failed to remember to take a selfie at any point in the day. So here's another cat picture instead! Her name is Luna :) she's currently asleep on top of my left arm.
Me and my blahaj
This is kind of a weird photo but I went to the beach today after dark. it's sort of a tradition for me to go every February 15th, so i took a picture as evidence of my trip.
“Two Lines”
I caught you early,
still a tiny embryo.
You’re not a person yet—you could be.
That’s what frightens me.
You’re not even an acquaintance—
you’re a tenant in my body.
The morbid idea of evicting you
makes me laugh.
It’s the scared sort of laugh
for when you don't know what to say.
I can’t see, hold,
or love you, yet.
I couldn’t tell the difference
if you were gone,
except the lifted weight
of responsibility.
Pet selfies! I'm sick right now so I'm not really up to taking photos of myself, but this is my fish tank and my cat named goose :)
This is meme is another example of confessional sharing on social media. The original poster of this tiktok is sharing their failed project to evoke humor in others. They are sharing what is could be embarrassing since it is a failed project, but by presenting it in a humorous way they turn it into a positive outcome and gain sympathy.
When scrolling through memes I came across this image and it immediately brought this assignment to mind.
This screenshot is interesting not only because of the confessional themes within the Dad's text message, but also because it was then posted by one of his family members for all the internet to see.
This exposure of others through screenshots of text messages is very prevalent in memes. It is such a small snapshot into individuals lives, but it is also entirely possible that this and other images like it are fake. Screenshots like this are often fake for the sake of humor, so it's interesting to account for this when considering online personas and how they are crafted.
Confessional Media Introductory Post
Hi All!
I’m excited to try out a range of creative expression methods. In the past I’ve mainly written poetry or short stories, but I’m particularly interested in the idea of mini graphic comics or something similar. I’m not quite sure what to think about the “Confession” theme of the class, and how that will relate to my own creative works, but I am interested to learn about it as a topic in general media. I’m not particularly invested in the idea of creating an online persona connected to my actual face or life, but I think the creation of online media accounts can be a great form of self-expression.
