Hey, just in case nobody's ever told you, you can just live with your friends. I don't mean as a temporary roommate situation until you get a better job or a romantic partner; you can do it forever if you want to. Like, I know my view is a little scewed here because I'm aroace, but you can't convince me that most people's lives wouldn't be vastly improved by living with a tight-knit group of people that all love and care about and support each other. You don't have to live alone! You don't have to live alone with your partner either! If the only thing stopping you is societal convention, then fuck it!! Break free of your chains!!! Do whatever you want forever!!!!
“chocolate guy” is currently shilling for harry potter so i better not see yall post his shit anymore. anyone who engages with that shit especially for money is scorched earth as far as i’m concerned.
Came right up when I searched it, unfortunately
because of the new tv show. and it’s only going to get worse as we get closer to the show’s release. take notice of it — who’s advertising, who’s talking about it, who’s encouraging you to watch it. it’s going to keep happening. there’s going to be more chocolate guys, more nicholas hoults, more kiera knightleys.
take no shit. give rowling an inch and she’ll take a mile. i don’t care how much you like or don’t like someone — if you see them interacting with harry potter positively in ANY way, drop them. unfollow, block, pretend they don’t exist. scorched fucking earth.
and most importantly, be loud about your support for transfems. be transfeminists. be mean about it. fight with people about it. block liberally. download shinigami eyes. read transfeminist theory. provide material and monetary support for dolls who need it, especially the trans women of color in your communities. show them that they’re loved. don’t look away.
ID: Two screenshots. The first is of a screenshot of a Tiktok post by Amaury Guichon. It shows Amaury Guichon, a smiling white man, wearing all white, holding two pieces of chocolate. Over it is text reading: "My first chocolate creation inspired by the magical world of Harry Potter! ⚡🪄
I brought Dobby to life, life-size and crafted 100% out of chocolate! 🍫✨ Surrounded by floating candles made from vanilla caramel, vanilla sable and a soft vanilla cremeux inside.🕯️
Should I create more pieces inspired by the world of Harry Potter? 👀🪄"
The second screenshot is of tumblr tags reading: "man come on why is everything shilling for hp right now"

I think your finale was healing for a lot of people who feel outside or on the fringes, or that their love and their journey is somehow less real or valuable than someone else’s… That it’s somehow less valid. I know quite a few people in that position, who have a lifetime of that on their shoulders, and in one episode of television you both relieved and validated them. That’s healing in my book. (x)
idk when we decided it was ok for a digital movie rental to cost MORE than a movie theater ticket but. come on.
The person who tweeted “y’all can’t even boycott Chick-fil-A” was right then and continues to be proven right now
Ah these children who always create problems for poor mothers....
It is incredibly important that everyone knows All Star by Smash Mouth is playing on the radio for the person filming this. 11/10, perfect soundtrack for these shenanigans
I loved so many things about Tomb Quest, but as someone has previously said the whole premise of the show relies on a common ableist trope which made the whole thing feel a bit sour to me, as someone who is disabled myself. I'm going to expand on that a bit in this post because I don't think anyone else has.
A common ableist trope is a disabled person "inspiring" nondisabled people to get their acts together & live more fully, especially if that disabled person has died or is very sick. Often, the disabled person has no other personality or plot than being sick or disabled & inspirational to the nondisabled characters.
Ben fulfills this trope, especially as he was imo given no full personality apart from what was said by the non disabled characters (which was very little apart from him wanting them to finish the game & that his character, Benjamin Blazebeard, was seemingly the best of them- playing into the virtuous disabled person trope). He wasn't on the official show art either even though he was the whole reason they got together, again playing into the idea that the only reason he's part of the show is to give the main (white, nondisabled) characters a reason to get together & ultimately improve their relationships & lives.
Him being Black when the rest of the main cast (not the understudies) are white/white passing obviously plays into racist tropes too as other people have discussed. I think it's important to say that Black disabled people too often face far more stigma, abuse, & neglect than their white or nondisabled counterparts & Ben would have definitely experienced this to some degree whilst alive. Many chronically ill people, myself included, have lost friendships because of ableism & lack of understanding by non disabled people on how to be a good friend to us. Ben very obviously would have loved to finish the game whilst he was still alive, but it looked like no one (except maybe Gary) even thought that might be something that they should make the effort to do.
This imo all makes it feel even ickier that the whole plot was then his white/white passing nondisabled friends coming together after he was no longer able to join them, completing something he so obviously would have loved to finish whilst he was alive, & making their own lives richer in the process.
Obviously I don't think any of this was intentional, but intention doesn't negate impact. Like @midnightnautilus said in their recent post, Starkid needs to do better at hiring or even consulting writers who have the lived experience of the marginalised characters they're trying to depict. There are many ways that Tomb Quest could have been written which didn't negatively impact its Black & disabled audiences. As we say in the disabled community, Nothing About Us Without Us.
Final note. I've seen some negative reactions to marginalised people voicing their criticisms of Tomb Quest so I just wanted to say: Black, disabled, & other marginalised people are allowed to voice their criticism of things that negatively impact them. I love Starkid & I loved Tomb Quest but nuance is important & valid. After all, how are things ever going to be better & more inclusive (& therefore more enjoyable & exciting to watch!) if people are discouraged from saying how something has done harm & how it could be improved?

Pro-censorship wattpad refugees drama is so funny to me because when I started using ao3 as a kid I was a devout mormon and I thought that reading anything even remotely pornagraphic was a sin and would ruin my life. So when I was 13 and found ao3 I went "oh awesome I found a fanfic website with a filtering system so I won't ever randomly stumble into porn. This is great! I was really worried about seeing something I didn't want to see on the other platforms." I didn't read any smut online until like three years later. If a mormon 13 year old can figure out 'don't like don't read' wattpad users can too cmon you guys i believe in you.
