Shamefully here to report I did succumb to weakness and door dashed. But, i did manage to eat some stuff in my fridge for lunch so I’ll count that as a partial win?

I did also make a chiffon cake after I remembered I still have grapes. This is the second time I’ve tried making a chiffon cake from scratch and it deflated less than last time so I’m p damn happy w the results :))

#Asian bakery style strawberry cake is my sister's and my favorite kind of cake #so the goal is to make one when she comes to visit in a couple months to early celebrate our bday #I’ve been telling my sister for like 2-3 yrs I was gonna learn to bake this cake for us #and now I’m finally putting my mouth where my moneys at #I may be struggling in literally every other aspect of my life #but at least I'm learning to make a p damn good cake #ignore the long list of errands/chores/tasks I need to do this weekend #in my defense my weekend is sun-tues so I still got 2 more days...#i really need to learn to cook more shit and also buy more unhealthy stuff #i feel like some frozen pizza or chicken nuggets and fries could've been a game changer #whatever i got leftovers to tide over my remaining cravings and hopefully i start craving salad and borscht again #because that's what I have ingredients for in my fridge rn #well maybe mashed potatoes too since i bought potatoes for the borscht and prob have enough heavy cream left for a small batch

Fighting for my life trying desperately not to DoorDash today because everything in my fridge is displeasing me even though I bought groceries like 4 days ago. Reminding myself I have a budget I should def stick to but also eating nothing is a very bad idea and I should figure that out.

So I've seen people comparing the new Odyssey movie to Epic the musical, and here on Tumblr it's mostly people dunking on the movie by saying Epic is better. So of course this leads to fans of the movie to try and hit back by criticizing Epic, especially in other sites, and imma stop you right there buddy.

Epic the musical was a dude's senior project at theater school that got popular on TikTok. Said dude is Jorge Rivera-Herrans and when you google his name the first thing that shows up is the Fandom Wiki because he doesn't have a wikipedia page. Almost every singer in the musical is completely unknown because auditions were held on TikTok and if you don't listen to the songs already knowing that you'd never guess. The entire thing is available for free on youtube.

The Odyssey is a 3 hour long movie with a 250 million dollar budget directed by a guy with a really long wikipedia page and staring actors you're probably sick of seeing so often.

Neither of them are accurate tellings of Homer's Odyssey, and both of them can be criticized by viewers, but if you're gonna compare the two in any serious way instead of making a meme then you have to take these factors into consideration.

Personally, if someone gifts me a scarf they crocheted themselves and I notice a few spots where they missed a stitch I'll point it out if they ask for criticism to improve in their craft. But I'll still have warm and fuzzy feelings for the scarf, and the missed stitches feel endearing.

If I paid 999999999 bazillion dollarydoos for a pure silk scarf encrusted with diamonds and i notice a bunch of missing stitches you can bet your ass I'll be a Karen about it.

#like I haven’t seen the movie yet #but like yeah I’m going to more critical to the hundreds of millions of dollars budget film over the passion project #I have to pay to see this film rn bc it hasn’t been pirated yet #they’re not really comparable #like I’m sure I’ll enjoy the movie well enough #but I will admit I did kind of expect more for a 3 hr movie #man now I really want to watch this movie to see what’s up w it #I heard they focus on the human aspects but do they gloss over all of the mythical bits or is it a semi decent blend?

listen it's not that I think epic the musical is a perfect adaption of the odyssey but it was an impressive passion project that knew what it wanted to be and knew what people gravitated to in the original work and it put significant effort into conveying this through its unique medium and tone to the point that hundreds of other people felt compelled to put effort into their own artistic interpretations of that version of the story. and that's really cool! and yes I would be more critical if it was a 100 million dollar project made by a professional because what the fuck do you mean you're a world-famous director and you cut the my name is nobody scene are you goddamn serious

Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
