Anchorman 2 PR and Marketing Campaign
I'm personally not a fan, I know, I know shoot me down! however I can't help but appreciate the marketing brilliance from this campaign, from the TV and Print adverts, the press junkets, social media, and website sponsorships (you can read more about the integrated campaign here) but my personal favourites are the PR stunts with food and drink brands.
Ben and Jerry's has been known for its quirkiness and humour which is well used in this campaign. Even I a non-anchorman-fan am aware of Ron Burgundy's love of Scotch which is where the PR stunts come in. The campaign used this to its advantage creating specialist limited products for the movie as you can see above. At the time the Ben and Jerry's was a more dominant story than of the Ron Burgundy branded scotch in the UK but they both made the rounds on Twitter, Facebook, News outlets, and blogs. The stunts created the desired stir and anticipation for the film adding to the momentum of the campaign, The Anchorman 2 will most likely be the biggest grossing movie of 2013 but I love it purely for the marketing genius.
