Been a while since I’ve posted anything, got a few photoshoots under my belt since my last post.  Will be adding more soon.  The concept for this shoot was a two-stage photoshoot session, the first will show me at my job (actor), so we highlighted classic cinema for the shoot.  The next session will be me at my hobbies, and we chosen comic book reader.  VERY excited to contrast these black & white Hollywood Golden Age concepts with the vibrant, bright colours of of a comic superhero shoot.  Enjoy.  :)

My first shoot back in April was with Darren, and it was Black&White AGAINST COLOUR.  We’ve reunited to do the reverse: COLOUR AGAINST Black&White.  I loved this shot so much, and I am currently embracing bolder poses and going outside my comfort zone of standing still and trying (and mostly failing) to smolder.

The latest shoot I did was a complete surprise.  It turned into this incredible 1950s-esq cinema nightshoot, all in black and white; atmospheric and moody.  I was incredibly happy, and enjoyed being more free in my movement and poses.

This is probably the boldest pose I’ve done (to date) in a photoshoot, generally I stand there and try to bring the edge through my eyes.  I’m still not skilled enough to bring my entire body into the work.  But this is a step in the right direction (I think... ahhhh).

Another shot from the ruins of a hotel.  I love the sombre tones, but the red “It’s All About Me” badge is visible in the bottom right.  HA!  You can’t tell in the photo, but my hair is grey in this shot.

So thrilled how my latest #photoshoot turned out; it was so atmospheric.  And the idea to create a sharp contrast from ruins by being in a suit worked wonderfully.  The photographer was fantastic to work with, he has such a great eye, and so much of the success was down to him.  I am a very happy chappy with the end result.

I like to learn from every shoot I do; and here... while I adore the visual concept of “COLOUR... within the Forest”, I think my pose is ultimately interesting but a little depthless.  Like any role on stage, you have to say “who is this person?  What are his wants, desires, needs?”; the same is true of modelling.  And while it’s a pretty picture I see no feeling in this shot.  My goal on my next shoot is to convey who I am in each shot.

Very happy with the results of my recent photoshoot; with the concept of “COLOUR... in the Forest”.  Apparently blues and yellows really ‘pop’ against the green and brown of the forest.  Still learning about poses and naturalism on camera, but I’m getting there.  I always say “any photoshoot that gives you 3 great images is a win” (and I got far more than three photos to be proud of, so I’m incredibly pleased).

I still have no idea how my eyes turned out like that???  They seem very catlike, and almost amber, rather than their usual dark brown.  I promise it was not touched up or edited, this just randomly happened with daylight and a brief look.  Crazy!

This encapsulates why I wanted to do "Black&White AGAINST COLOUR” as a concept shoot; the pop of the white against such vibrant, beautiful graffiti... without any special lighting or editing, the image just shines.  I’m hoping to do an inverted shoot soon, where I wear coloured clothes against white and black backgrounds (I had one all booked for Gloucester, but sadly the photographer had to cancel; hoping to rebook it ASAP).

A little “throw-back-Thursday” to my first ever modelling shoot waaaaay back in 2009.  It’s good to see how far I’ve come, and the confidence I’ve gained with naturalism on camera.  Never forget your origins, because it’s through experience we grow as individuals.  It’s also good to realise, even back then, I was drawn to colour.
