Tipping

Anybody else broke/don’t have Paypal? When it comes to tipping artists, I feel so bad because I can’t pay them actual money, but in-game items seem so crappy of me. Please tell me I’m not the only one…what do you do when someone does such a good job, but you can’t tip them the money they deserve?

Yup. :( I am millimeters away from a job and feel so bummed I can’t tip. I got two AMAZING designs back, but forgot escrow takes a fee and would kind of negate the intentions of a tip. I was told the donate link stays active, so I’m hopeful that’s true so I can tip with my paycheck...but I wish my compliments could pay bills for artists :p 

I’m thinking of just stalking artist wishlists and tossing items over, but then I worry about not knowing which artists actively play and which just do art ahh

It feels virtually impossible to get into this community if you aren’t already established and popular - the more I try to talk to folks on Aywas, the more I realize that many people just have a really bad attitude and don’t treat one another well.

There are a lot of really cool people on here, I know that for a fact, but it feels like it’s impossible to find them and connect. Everyone already has their cliques and their opinions of one another, and they make it clear that they aren’t interested in talking to anyone they don’t already know. And that’s fine - playing the game with a small group of friends is a totally valid way to go about things.

But, fuck, trying to get comfy and find your own little space on here is hard as hell. I just want people to talk to and make customs with, I’m not trying to get in on all this drama or make some big name for myself. I’d like to think that I’m friendly and haven’t intentionally been rude to anyone. All I want on here is to have fun.

a Broken Fishing Pole? really???

there is this one user who participates in the “gift the user above you” thread around aymas and almost all the time just puts random, low rarity (so it aint good for trashing even) shit under my tree.

this is a petty thing to be annoyed by but its also a real nasty move to do this. everyone has low cost things on their wishlist for a reason if you cant/dont want to give out “bigger” things. i always love to receive anything from my wishlist(!!!), it doesnt matter if its a breeding coin or a love orange or some cheap pet slot item that can be found if you adventure for 30 seconds. 

not everyone has unlimited funds and thats alright but no need to be outright rude. just dont claim a user from whose wishlist you dont have or dont want to give out anything because let me tell you something: the person below you will try to stick to your list and give you something you like even if its on the smaller side and after 25 december you just look like a cheap asshole to everyone who you treated like this.

I’m curious who this was because someone from one of these threads skipped me one time, then the gift they sent the other time was a total junk item akin to what you got... :/ It just gave me such a sad feeling. The only other total crap item I got was at least from someone who appears to be new so I thanked them anyway and tried to sound happy, but the one who skipped me and then gave a random junk item...Like why not give me one of my cheap tier items?? Like I gave so many really cheap options. It reminds me of the egg/pumpkin patch but hurts more because they looked at me, looked at my list, and decided to post anyways just to be selfish and gain something better for themself...

Mind you this was my only complaint, but man it hurts?

Yes, having what was said previously addressed would be the right thing to do IMHO but at the same time Kaiyo was NEVER the one who said any of it.

The fact that someone reacted that strongly and Kaiyo not be made privy to it feels like a potential issue to me but…¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t think anyone was blaming Kaiyo? At least it didn’t look that way. I think it was just general upset over an answer that blamed users and then another answer coming to light that the real reason was staff forgetting or just making a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes! There’s no blame there. Just the getting 2 different answers thing

Has something changed with the GCC feature? In the past I’ve had my prompts claimed rather quickly, and it’s been quite a while my prompts sat unclaimed. Is the feature just less active lately/could my prompt just be bad? I’m hoping it’s more that my prompt isn’t exciting, rather than that the feature is dying cause I really like that feature :o

There’s the potential that while artists were waiting a while on pay, which it was delayed a bit more than usual this time, the tickets were lower priority. I know that gcc/mdt is pretty much bottom on my list these days because the payments are semi-unpredictable. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s similar for other artists as well. The pay is also pretty low compared to what most artists can make through commissions, unless it’s the highest ticket tier, so it’s sort of a side thing for most of us.

Ah that really stinks for those of us who don’t like to spend money on the site often. I don’t mean the artists don’t deserve that higher pay, mind you! Just that it stinks that the basic design ticket isn’t considered enough pay. I wonder if the site would ever consider raising its payout...Seems a shame to still sell the item as is if many consider it not worth it.

Ah well. I’ll hold out hope that the payment delays being cleared up might help my chances!

(also want to repeat that I’m not at all saying artists don’t deserve fair pay)

So with only a few days to go, are we going to get a functioning premium item before the middle of the month?

If not, can staff actually tell us what the premium item will be for, instead of just “account upgrade”?

Let’s just hope it’s not another f’in enchanted net situation ….  Still holding onto that in case they ever figure out what to do with it…  that was my first premium item when I started on the site… and still kinda disappointed it’s been a year and a half and nada …  We keep getting oh the person left and didn’t say what they wanted to do with it… we are going to re-purpose it … but still nothing has happened…

To be honest, I wish staff wouldn’t use the excuse of “we don’t want to say what we’re thinking in case we change our minds and can’t/won’t do it” because it just feels....excusey. Like I’d rather they tell us their plan/idea and say they’re looking into it’s doability. At least we’d know something is being done. I hate that answer so much. Like I see only 2 solutions- 1- tell us the plan and that someone is currently investigating its feasability and 2- tell us the plan and make sure it works regardless of how hard/easy it is to code.

i think that answer affects “transparency” a lot. When all my questions are met with “we’re not sure what we’re doing and don’t want to say anything in case we do something else” or “that’s a low priority”, I feel like none of my concerns are heard or cared about.

Like, the art gallery for example. I actually put a lot of work into the submission I sent in. Was told that the contest was unfair and broken because of not enough submissions, so instead of taking it down AFTER they awarded prizes for the last round, they left it up, let people put time and effort in, and I get the same “we’re not sure what we’ll do” answer, which leaves me assuming it’ll never be gotten to.

That... that’s my only issue with Aywas. User input seems meaningless, and there are not even ideas of timelines for fixes/questions/giving items a purpose.

Sorry for hijaking this and ranting oops. I really do appreciate stafff, it’s just... these concerns add up.

Newest attempt at making a custom! Based off art from/by Calix! Tried reshading the entire thing. I think the only thing that looks funky is the left cheek, the highlight is kinda big.

In addition to showing this off, I’d love some more advice from you all! One thing people seem to think is my lines are too small. I use SAI, anyone mind telling me what size/what settings I should use? I want to keep practicing until I get good!

Wait really? That sucks because reg. design ticket is super expensive already... do you mind saying who no longer does the reg. ticket? I’d hope the ones still listed under it still do it at least?

On a side note, I feel like GCC team hires should have a decent mix of people who will do any level and those who only do higher rather than people switching out and not being replaced :(

Don’t have the money? Take out a loan and pay them. That’s how businesses work. Don’t pay?

Wouldn’t it be easier and more  convenient to just stop working? 

A; saves you time and money for a lawsuit

B; saves AY from spending  a bunch of time on that rather than the actual problem

C; you risk the end of Aywas and the fun and joy it gives to a lot of people. 

You signed up to be an artist because, I assume, you also find Aywas pleasurable. Then suck it up, take your loss for the art done, and just keep your foot until you get paid. I bet it’s just as effective without doing damage and all the hassle.

Yeah that’s the big issue here- don’t ruin something for other people. I can’t speak on the pay thing not being an artist myself, but it seems staff are very transparent when talked to and I do agree one could just stop working for Aywas if they don’t enjoy it. But many people really like the site, and some like me have put real $ into it. I’d be pissed if someone sued and /my/ money went to waste because of a misunderstanding over pay (or for any other reason honestly).

Maybe Teos with skulls and candles are less popular in submissions this year? Should I try submitting this? I think he’d need more edits but maybe? and yes this is the same edit from the Oet, but if that can’t get accepted since there’s another similar one, might as well put it to some use?
