Night fury baby ideas exploration (including the current canon marketable pudgy one)
I thought I'd try my hand at sketching some of the dragons in the nine realms
These dragons ADORE beef and have a special symbiosis with monstrous nightmares This species belongs to the awesome @ellulemmu! Who gave me permission to add her dragon species to The New Book of Dragons!
THIS IS FANART OF @ellulemmu 's ORIGINAL SPECIES
I thought this design was super cool and wanted too draw it!
also this thing i did the other day old man mikey from that tnr spinoff series or something idk i didn´t watch it
Thunder OUR beloved fury..

My side of the art trade with @geckoodles featuring Arnwynn! Thank you for doing one with me!
The Marshlands
In httyd there was one biome that i feel like they MAJORLY passed over. The marshes. Especially when you consider that there is an entire section In the Complete book of dragons (by cressida Cowell) About the marshland dragons. These dragons would be at home in the mud, silt, and murky waters. Mostly home to ambush predator mystery class and mud loving boulder class. Most dragons in this biome have methane based fire breath.
The snapptrapper and speed stingers are also residents of marshlands

3/4 background dragons have finally received names!
Nothing for this guy yet, but their probably saving it for another update
The Unknown Four
After 12 years, these guys still have not received a species profile or even names. So i took it upon myself to create some lore for them
Gruffhog: A stocky Stoker class dragon, gruffhogs are tough creatures that tend to confront any new vikings and dragons it meets. However if impressed, gruffhogs are loyal companions that protect any it considered to be a part of its herd. Even gruffhogs that were part of drago army were know to risk their lives to protect soldiers in the battlefield.
Thornbacks: sluggish for a Sharp class, these dragons usually prefer resting than participating in the usual energetic activities of other sharp dragons. Sleeping for most of the day, thornbacks like to conserve their energy just in case they need to make a quick escape or charge into battle. Relying on their spiky backs to ram into enemies with lethal force.
Turfslasher: Unlike the many rock eating dragons of the Boulder class, turfslasher prefer eating piles and piles of fresh soil. With the ability to find the richest deposit of dirt, farmers are wise to follow them as they can enjoy a bountiful harvest with whatever spot this dragon finds. And its not hard to work with this dragon because if their anything a turfslasher likes as much as dirt, its some fresh vegetables.
Dreadstalker: During the war, many vikings believed this dragon was a bad omen that brought plague to villages. Once one showed up, illness would usually break out with the dreadstalker being killed immediately, which only spread the sickness. But this former member of the fear class is completely misunderstood, it doesn't bring diseases rather its attracted to it. According to valka notes, these tracker class vulture dragons have a taste anything rotten, completely cleaning any given area that keeps the ecosystem clean.
Snaptrapper (and bunch of mine hcs about them)
Also it has a retractable stinger in its tail. Couldn't fit that tidbit in

Fire and water
Very quick doodles of some redesign concepts of Nine Realms dragons, this time the Floodfang and Flamethrower!
I'm not super experienced with creature design, but I wanted to try out just making very quick, very small scetches for a couple of dragons to just try out shapes and feel out design ideas.
With these two species, I think the Floodfang was just a rushed design made to serve the plot and the Flamethrower's were made to be the bad guy's goons acting as target practise and roadblocks.
That makes them a bit of a blank page to work on when I'm not particularly filled with ideas for either, so even the new names they have for the AU are placeholders, since I feel like they still lack something. For now they are Colossal Floodmaw and Vicious Firegill
Designwise my ideas don't have super concrete ideas yet, but the Floodmaws are inspired by the Hafgufa, a whale-like creature from ancient Norse tales known for swallowing ships. As for the Firegills, I pretty much just wanted to polish what was already there.
Floodmaws are found in the large, underground water systems that expand and connect in multiple realms, but most often Floodmaws prefer the waters around the Crystal Realm (Alfheim) and the Nature Realm (Vanaheim). As for Firegills, they are still found in the Fire Realm (Muspelheim).
Funfact to end the post with: Eugene's dragon, named Partycrasher in the Au, is actually a Firegill 👍
