Cards To Inspire Card Drive
Cards To Inspire is doing a card drive for encouraging cards for adolescents who are residents in mental health treatment facilities. The cards will be presented to the adolescents in May in honor of May being mental health month.
You’re welcome to contribute!
Some card guidelines:
• You can use any greeting cards, including blank ones you decorate yourself.
• The cards will be given to adolescents, so of course keep them teenager friendly, as well as unisex.
• You can include a little bit about yourself, inspiring messages or quotes, and anything else, as long as it’s teenager friendly.
• You can decorate the cards as much as you’d like, and make as many cards as you’d like.
• You’re welcome to send out multiple packages of cards. If you’re sending multiple cards, you don’t have to put them in separate envelopes, you can just put them all in a package and send them together.
• Please send all cards by April 25th, so I know how many cards we’re getting.
Please message me any questions. This post will be updated with more info if I forgot anything.
You can send your cards to the address below, and they’ll be given as part of the card drive in May.

Beautiful idea for those wanting to help
Thank you so much! ❤️
This idea could make someone’s day. Y'all don’t understand just how much you can change someone’s world by letting them know you care.
Thank you so much! I really think it’s gonna help people.
Hi Hank ! There's a cool essay on Medium called "No wonder the young are supporting unapologetic socialists— they’re fucked" that I think you would enjoy reading. Have a nice day :)
As previously discussed…I am both not young and wealthy, so you probably shouldn’t consider my voice as super valid. But I would like to propose for consideration that young people are not necessarily fucked.
I think college graduates in particular have a great deal of economic freedom right now. Unemployment is very low right now, and under-employment for college grads is at a very healthy 6%. College education is more expensive than it’s ever been, but is still a very worthwhile investment and that education is available to a greater number of students than ever before.
You can talk about how wonderful life was for baby boomers, but don’t forget about the roughly 10% of them that are gay and have been shamed for it their entire lives. Or that all of them in the U.S. were raised in a world of legal segregation.
None of this is to say that America right now is fair, it is much more unequal than it has ever been, but it was far more unfair for baby boomers of color than it will be for young white people today (who are primarily the people that are supporting socialists.)
I think there are lots of good reasons to support increased socialism, but I really don’t like this notion that young people are fucked, not least because there’s very little data supporting it (and that article contained none at all). I think young people have a huge amount of power, knowledge, skill, and potential, and facing your life as if you’ve been defeated before your career has even begun is not a good way to imagine your life.
Barring a disaster, people born between 1980 and 2000 will create a huge amount of value and acquire a huge amount of wealth in their lifetimes, likely more wealth than any other generation ever. And I can only hope that they continue to support the notion of distributing that wealth more fairly well into the 2080s.
Real meditation is not about mastering a technique; it’s about letting go of control. This is meditation. Anything else is actually a form of concentration. Meditation and concentration are two different things. Concentration is a discipline; concentration is a way in which we are actually directing or guiding or controlling our experience. Meditation is letting go of control, letting go of guiding our experience in any way whatsoever. The foundation of True Meditation is that we are letting go of control.

My favorite thing about Kylo Ren’s lightsaber was that J.J. Abrams said it doesn’t work properly because it’s a really old and outdated design.
He’s basically a space hipster using a shitty lightsaber because it’s vintage.
Don’t be too quick to interpret the moment. Just keep quiet. My encouragement would always be: never think anything is against you, everything is blessing. Why should it be different? Just be quiet. Let it all work itself out.

And kid, you’ve got to love yourself. You’ve got wake up at four in the morning, brew black coffee, and stare at the birds drowning in the darkness of the dawn. You’ve got to sit next to the man at the train station who’s reading your favorite book and start a conversation. You’ve got to come home after a bad day and burn your skin from a shower. Then you’ve got to wash all your sheets until they smell of lemon detergent you bought for four dollars at the local grocery store. You’ve got to stop taking everything so goddam personally. You are not the moon kissing the black sky. You’ve got to compliment someones crooked brows at an art fair and tell them that their eyes remind you of green swimming pools in mid July. You’ve got to stop letting yourself get upset about things that won’t matter in two years. Sleep in on Saturday mornings and wake yourself up early on Sunday. You’ve got to stop worrying about what you’re going to tell her when she finds out. You’ve got to stop over thinking why he stopped caring about you over six months ago. You’ve got to stop asking everyone for their opinions. Fuck it. Love yourself, kiddo. You’ve got to love yourself.

What you missed from the fourth Democratic debate
The Democratic presidential candidates met for their fourth debate in Charleston, South Carolina on Sunday night. If you missed it, we collected all the highlights, including Hillary’s new attacks on Bernie Sanders re: gun control, healthcare and Wall Street.
ALSO: Great question @chescaleigh!
We’re too celebratory of civil rights these days. We have these 50th anniversaries and everyone is happy and everybody is celebrating. Nobody is talking about the hardship. It’s almost as if the civil rights movement was this three-day event: On Day 1, Rosa Parks didn’t give up her seat on the bus. On Day 2, [the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.] led a march on Washington. And on the third day, we signed all of these laws. And if you think about that history in that way, you minimize the trauma, the damage, the divides that were created. You can’t segregate and humiliate people decade after decade without creating long-lasting injuries.
