Hot off the press! While I’ve been isolating I’ve been working towards finishing a project for you all to be able to have a look at, and with that I’m happy to announce that the first issue of READ ONLY MAGAZINE is available to buy digitally through Etsy. READ ONLY MAGAZINE is a zine written by me with the goal of looking back at video games years removed from their release date to offer a thoughtful and holistic perspective of their impact, the circumstances surrounding their launch and their design. This volume is a direct response to the current crisis, and as such I wrote the issue around two games that I feel respond to catastrophe in interesting ways. NOTICE There are a couple Talking Heads on display for your viewing pleasure @beanandleafcoffeehouse and I would be flattered if anyone took a peek! They’ve been put up in my favourite corner of the café where I’m most frequently found hawking everyone’s lovely publications. RADIO SILENCE It’s been a solid month or so since I’ve had the fortitude to post something and the reason is, quite frankly, I haven’t been very well. I’ve had a blast drawing and writing and throwing it all onto the internet but I had to be realistic about my own limitations. When you’re representing yourself with your work, it’s very easy to fall into the trap of over-analysing every movement you make. “Doing” things is when I’m most happy but being constantly dissatisfied with myself makes it quite exhausting to do anything and frankly left me completely unable to operate in the same way I have been doing. I’ve continued working in that time and finally feel ready again to push myself. I’m very excited to show more stuff that I’ve done to the internet and I hope that you’ll all enjoy it when I do. It means a lot that anyone pays attention to the things that I do; it’s what keeps me wanting to work.
