my favorite thing about criticism of crys is that the vast majority can be simplified to “i didn’t actually read the comics” , and frankly that’s beautiful
of course today is the first day this week i feel up to writing after getting thrown back into the headspace that almost destroyed me last year by someone i explicitly asked to never contact me again decided to fill my inbox.
i started writing threads and then it just devolved into brainstorming little inhuman facts and hc’s

i was today years old when i learnt that avengers id cards worked as credit cards and you could withdraw $2500 a day with them
all this being said, crys still has only the vaguest sense of how physical paper money works ( the assigning of an arbitrary value to slips of paper that ultimately all look much the same? why is one slip of paper worth so much more than another when it’s the same size and weight? ) , so slipping someone a hundred as a tip for a cup of coffee isn’t unheard of.

“be careful ( name ), careful of the wind you choose.”
“a sailor chooses the wind that takes the ship from a safe port. ah, yes, but once you’re abroad, as you have seen, winds have a mind of their own.”
“i’m well satisfied.”
“did you not mark his words?”
“what about him?”
“ah! justice for all?”
“for those who deserve it.”
“whether you believe me or not, ( name ), it is true.”
“justice is poorly served when you speak ill of your betters.”
“where are we?”
“i … i … i shouldn’t be here.”
“ah, but you and i have so much in common.”
“i don’t need a friend.”
“when a sailor dies on a voyage, miss, he goes to his resting place in the sea with his hammock sewn about him by a friend.”
“no more tea, thank you.”
“i know nothing about knives.”
“is she british or american?”
“is someone there?”
“no one ranks for creative genius like a sailor shirking work.”
“sweet are the uses of adversity.”
“i should like a private word.”
“a round robin!”
“i’m not certain i believe you.”
“we shall have it at sea.”
“i should think even you, in your mongrel ignorance, would know the days of piracy are long gone.”
“no piracy for us; only justice.”
“a blessing goes with you.”
“he’s always watching you.”
“he’s waiting, wanting you to make a mistake.”
“i don’t intend to make a mistake.”
“if the ship plunges, the sea will up and grab you.”
“you won’t be captain long!”
“you’ll be seen by everyone as the cruel despot you are!”
“what if he doesn’t get it right?”
“can’t we sail around?”
“up, damn you! up! hurry!”
“he’s dead.”
“it was you … that … murdered him.”
“you’ll leave the light, won’t you?”
“easy, ( name ), i’ll not do you harm.”
“close to death, surely, but not altogether dead.”
“may the gods protect us.”

he stands, relaxed, a foot by the door. he studies her, facial features first – stunning – he still thinks of her just as highly as he did when they were together. & as she looks at him with narrowed eyes, he tilts his head to the side, feeling as if he is pulled out of thought & into reality again. ❛ apologies, crystal, ❜ he speaks softly, gently – only for her ; ❛ but it’s not luna i want to see, it’s you, ❜ a pause, before a feeling of guilt takes upon him. ❛ i didn’t want the trouble, i promise you that, but i needed be here or it would have stuck with me throughout the night ; if i can stay the night – i would love to see our daughter in the morning if you will let me, after our little visit. ❜
