“I was here in literally two seconds,” she said, frowning and crossing her arms. “Why are you being like this?” she asked, looking her over and narrowing her eyes. “I’ll remember not to come next time I hear you scream.”

“Good. Don’t.”, Alison said her eyes hard and focused on the girl in front of her. “I’d never ask for saving anyway.”

“It’s really not a load of bullshit, and you can’t just forget people you lived with for three years.”

“Sounds made up to me. Besides, you kind of have a record for forgetting, don’t you?”

“Kinda can’t forget them, Alison. They were perfect strangers and they told me things about myself that I didn’t even know. They said I was selfish, and that I’d die one day, and I’d have no one. They were right.”

“Well they didn’t need to be psychic to be able to tell that you’re selfish and that you’d end up in a body bag. ”, she wanted her words to hurt. She was fuming at his wallowing. “But you know what I meant. You having no one? That’s bullshit.”

Kara stood there, stumped, staring at the girl in disbelief and cocking her head to the side. “Are you serious?”  she said, arms out as she let out a frustrated groan. “I thought someone was hurt! Are you crazy? Have you ever heard of the Boy Who Cried Wolf?” she asked, eyes wide, adrenaline not quite out of her system from the scare.

“Hmm, you thought someone was hurt and it took you that long to fly down from your little morning flight? I’d be better off taking my chances running from danger.”

Kara shrugged, looking away from Alison and crossing her arms over her stomach. “They were important to me at one time,” she said, eyes on the ground, unable to look at her.

Alison shrugged, unphased by the girl’s body language. “Yeah. Well. You’re here now in the present.”

Kara was flying around the island, in her uniform of course, and trying to figure out what to do with herself. Since her talk with Steve Rogers, she’d felt better about everything. Even though this wasn’t her city, it was still possible that people would need her. As she started thinking that she was probably done for the day, Kara heard a scream and took off towards the source of the sound.

“Took you long enough. Now what if I were in real danger?”

The look in Alison’s eyes were ice cold. “That’s a load of bullshit and you know it. Forget them.”

“Listen, I can explain– my shirt was on the rocks when I went into the water, but I came out to find it gone, so either give me your jacket or help me find my shirt.”

Alison couldn’t keep the smug smirk off of her face if she tried. Shaking her head she bean to slowly back away. “Or I could leave you here and let this beautifully tragic situation unfold.”
