Bound to Get Burned
@blondweasel This was extremely controversial. Normally it wouldn’t be, but with Pucey’s recent arrest, she could see why many would be hesitant to give their opinions. In the heat of the moment, even Victoire was having second thoughts. She shook her head. No, there was no way she was going to back down now. She felt as though she has some sort of obligation to take lead, like she had a reputation to maintain. The blonde stood in her chair. Her eyes scanned the crowed. There it was, that rush again. The corner of her lips turned into a sly smile and she took a deep breath. “Those who have been sentenced to life in Azkaban are not entitled to a second trial without new evidence proving their innocence to present in court.”
She continued her argument with charts from the textbooks proving her claims that less than two percent of the re-appeals end on a different decision, and of those two percent, only one were innocent. Another chart depicted several case studies where murders who had been released killed again. “Second chances should not be considered for the horrific crimes that would lead one to be sentenced to life. It is far too much of a risk to the rest of the population. As far as I’m concerned, they need to pay for their crimes and should not be eligible for parole or release.”
Ely watched as a ripple of whispers and uncomfortable shifting happened, but his eyes landed on the blonde. He knew where the Weasley girl stood, her entire family held in the same position, and he winced when he saw the quirk in her lip. “Not everything is so black and white Weasley.”He retorted immediately after, but the girl began to bulldoze on.
“But that’s not fair.”he added after her charts were presented, ignoring the rest of the class, and sitting up firmer. “People have choices, and yes while I understand that you’re strictly entering off statistics, nothing is all like that.”he shook his head, before rolling his eyes. “I mean I’m not justifying their wrong doings, I’m just saying there’s more too it.”
@orion-bulstrode Orion blinked as he came into the room, sitting himself down and said, “Don’t leave on my account.”
Ely shifted, having shoved his shoe back on, and then looking at the boy awkwardly. “I, hum, alright.”
@law-abiding-fred
Fred stepped out of one of the stalls, a satisfied and joyful grin on his face. “Hey!” he exclaimed when he spotted Ely and then he added, giggling. “No need to run away from the bathroom, it isn’t that terrible. It’s totally bearable!”
“Uhm, yeah, no, it’s alright.”he dismissed.

@scorpius-malfoying Scorpius raised an eyebrow and mimicked the gesture of slipping down one’s glasses to closely look at something. His eyes darted from Ely’s face to his hands, then back to his face. “Looked harder, still only seeing a child” He shrugged. Rather unimpressed, he watched Ely’s little antics with the glass of milk and then hummed an ‘aha’. “Is there a reason why you came saving me from my drink or were you just bored?”
Ely’s eyes narrowed at the boy, missing the gesture completely, and then rolling his eyes. “Have fun being a dick Malfoy.”
“What - oh - sorry, I’m just leaving.”

ELY & CHARLUS

When Ely asked the question, Charlus glanced at him, slightly curious, waiting for him to answer it by himself. And the answer came indeed, but he left him a bit puzzled. He shrugged his shoulders, he wasn’t convinced by his words, but he didn’t feel like arguing about that. “I suppose that what you are trying to say is that you didn’t want anything from me, right?” He paused briefly, and then, hinting a small smile, a usual soft pink hue coloring his cheeks, he commented. ”Aside my cup.” He nodded. “You clearly wanted my cup, didn’t you?”
“No Nott, I didn’t, I just wanted you to get out of your head and not sound so analytical for a change.”he heaved a sigh, running a hand threw his hair, and then giving the boy a glance that turned into an eye roll. “I’ll reframe from talking to you though.”he offered for Charlus, because it seemed apparent he wasn’t wanted or needed. “Always a pleasure.”he murmured genuinely before getting up and beginning to walk away.

ELY & SCORPIUS

“Why, are you not?” Scorpius replied, voice dry, face straight. He followed the mug’s way back up to Ely’s nose. “Nothing for light-weighted little children like you, Lewellyn.” He took the cup from his roommate, placed it back on his side of the table, then reached out to shove a glass and the jug of milk into his hands. “Bon appetit.”
Ely was going to shoot out a blatant ‘No’, but then reframed from doing so. If the blonde wanted to suspect him of such then he could. Grabbing the milk the boy poured the glass and swirled it. “Unfortunately Malfoy, if you took a chance to look a little harder you’d see I’m not a child.”he finished as he tossed the glass in a upward motion, watching the milk bend back into the glass and then up toward Scorpius’s face.

ELY & DANIELLA
daniellawalsh
“I wasn’t studying,” Daniella replied in her signature, brutally honest tone. Although she had been up late with a book of Ancient Runes, it wasn’t studying for her. It was a hobby. A passion, really. The thrill of the puzzle to solve. She loved it.
“Really, is it?” she asked in reply to Ely’s mention of it being first period, “I’m well aware of what time it is. If you’re trying to reprimand me, I don’t care.” Skipping a class wasn’t something that was new to Dani. She’d been doing it since her First Year.
The thing about Ely was that more people often shot fires at him unannounced than anything else, but perhaps that was because he pushed just a hair too much. So when the clipped answer came hurling at him the boy blinked. Then when she retorted at him, he tilted his head to the side and rolled his eyes. “Alright Walsh, have a good day.”he murmured, not having the energy for her.

“Vicky.”
Victoire’s face instantly grew hot. She hated when people called her that, and she was certain he was aware of it. However, instead of glaring with her lip curled like she does to her family, she met his eyes and smiled. He wanted a rise out of her, but that wasn’t going to happen. Good luck. She mouthed to him. After all, against the stacks of research she’d done last night and the pre-written arguments, he was the one who was going to need it.
She organized her papers by the numbers she written at the bottom and placed them all in front of her. Looking around, she noticed that all of those who had sides with her didn’t bring forth any notes; most didn’t even seem like they were paying attention. They probably weren’t, Victoire was known for hogging the floor. She’d learned early in life do to all the Weasley family get-togethers, the loudest gets heard. She’d been told she had a projective voice, one that could be atoned to sound very stern and serious. One of her younger cousins even suggested she become a motivational speaker, the suggestion wasn’t exactly crossed off her list.
Victoire looked at Ely once more, then shifted her eyes to McGonagall, awaiting further instruction.
The boy cocked his chin down as a sly smirk split his face at how - for a pause she looked like she was bout to erupt. Watching her mouth the words had his shoulders rising and dropping in a simple shrug. He could try, and he knew he was itching at all the right points. While she may not come undone now, she could later, especially if she wasn’t bound to listen. Which, in Ely’s case, she seemed more stubborn than anything to consider other perspectives.
A silence, like all times right before the Professor spoke, fell on the group. The way the woman could go for not paying much mind to simply raising her gaze always had goosebumps bubbling on Ely’s skin.
The woman flicked her wand and the chalk rose and began to tick against the board as the topic came up. ‘Azkaban’. The topic itself could easily be weighed back and forth, especially after Pucey’s sentence.

ELY & ALICE

“Hmm, usually I would be, but here I am…” Alice gestured to the large flannel thrown on in laziness, and the tea in front of her. The funny thing was that she usually was just as casual as she was now, stealing many pieces of large clothes from her male friends. It was just her tired eyes that brought her into this state. An hour or two and she would be turned around to her normal spitfire self. “See I haven’t decided yet.” Alice drummed her fingers on the table in thought. “Somebody already did hair color changing muffins, and somebody already let weasels loose in the castle this week…” That somebody of course having been her. “So I feel as if a lot has already been done.” Her normal mischievous smirk danced across her lips.
The boy nodded along with her, agreeing, and then paused as she gestured at herself. While the girl began to decide the boy grabbed a scone and nodded lazily with her, finding that those pranks had been quite intriguing, and pausing for a bit. “No fireworks yet?”he offered gingerly as he twisted his wrist with the scone, bits of it falling, and his eyes looking up in thought. “Something with a bang?”

averypucey For someone speaking of her stature, he was certainly cavalier with insulting her. ‘ You don’t know me, ‘ she retorted, turning on him properly. ‘ So if I were you I’d stop talking to me like you do. ‘ He didn’t know that any threats she made were empty ; she couldn’t, or wouldn’t hurt him any more than she would any one else. ‘ Call me when your brother is in jail and I might listen to you, ‘ she added, taking her tea and turning away from him.
“Please can we not with this you whining about how now one knows you, and no one understands, because when it comes down to it at least I bothered talking to you - and not out of fear or obligation.”he lamented as he crossed his arms and arched a brow. “What are you going to do Pucey?”he retorted, eager to see what she’d do in the Great Hall of all places. “As it turns out I don’t have siblings.”

ELY & SCORPIUS

Scorpius’s eyes came back to focus when someone grabbed the mug in front of him and pulled it out of his sight. Blinking, he looked up, then let out a sigh. “Goodmorning to you, too, Lewellyn.“ He didn’t sound like it was a particularly good morning, though. “If I were you, I’d keep this away from your mouth. Or fire, for that matter.”
The slight lilt in his shoulders, the glazed expression in his eyes, and then - yep that sigh. “You make me sound like I’m some tosser who just begins with tragic riddles.”he added as he looked at the mug, actually giving it a proper sniff, and then looking back up at the boy through hooded lashes. “Why’s that?”

ELY & CHARLUS

Charlus was neither sad nor depressed, he was simply lost in his thoughts, mentally repeating something he was going to need later during class. He arched his eyebrows when his mug was snatched away from him, turned his head and looked at the boy that had just seated down next to him, wondering what he wanted from him and especially what he was talking about. Was he drunk? Was he high? So early in the morning? Some sort of prank? He let several moments pass by as he skeptically and carefully observed Ely, the silence stretching between the two of them until he eventually replied in a kind tone, just a hint of a polite smile on his lips. “Thanks for the advice.“ he said, grabbing a new cup, Ely could keep the other one.
Some people to watching a flower bloom as the sun sets and rises, waiting for the petals to close in on themselves and then relax out, and most often it’s a long process with needed patience. It was intense in a drawled sort of way, and whenever Ely was around Charlus he felt that way. The boy was hard to read. “You know what’s interesting about beginning a conversation mid topic?”he inquired, leaning against his right side and not waiting past a beat for the boy to return. “Everyone always thinks you want something from them.”

ELY & AVERY
averypucey Her brother had been in prison for longer than she cared to count. As each day passed, the tiny flame of hope that he might somehow find his way free dimmed, and she feared it would soon fade out altogether. Avery considered that reason enough to lose herself in the depths of her tea-cup, wishing for at least one word that would reassure her. As it was pulled away from her, Avery’s head snapped up to glare at the intruder on her time. ‘ I don’t remember asking you to disturb me, ‘ she said, snatching her tea back.
Avery Pucey in all her tantrumped glory was always a girl Ely felt like he had to dodge. It was as if every look and word thrown at him was the avid cheddar cure and he was simply shifting constantly and dodging her move. “I don’t remember giving enough of a shite to ask for it.”he commented as he raised his brows and carded his fingers. “I just figured that sitting in the Great Hall looking like a five year old child with red puffed eyes may not be the best look for someone of your stature.”he eased, rolling his shoulders and tilting his head. “You don’t get sad Pucey, you get even - or don’t you?”
Bound to Get Burned
@ely-lewellyn
The last time they did this, she got kicked out of class. The last time they did this, she screamed at a Hufflepuff girl and nearly got expelled. The last time they did this it was hell, but there weren’t words to describe how excited she was to do it again. Victoire’s heart raced and her brow was lined with sweat, not only from anticipation, but nerves. No matter how many times she debated, she couldn’t get the feelings to go away.
Professor Mcgonagall looked as though she was regretting the decision she’d made for today, and they hadn’t even started yet. Victoire pulled out her pile of notes from her bag and set them on the desk, as well as several bookmarked textbooks from the library to use as exhibits in her argument. She looked around and noticed many people looking around nervously, no doubt wondering if the side they picked was hers. Her mother always said to tone it down, and to some extent she was right. But, it’s all in what you want, and Victoire wanted to educate. It wasn’t all about having friends, besides, sometimes people are just to different to get along. What better way to find out than situations like these?
Grey. Grey was a dull color and typically when the word was heard people thought of Greyback or the colour. For Ely it was a period that nothing is exactly black and white, and when it came to being around one particular girl the color grey seemed to amplify his vision. It was intense. As Ely made his way toward the room, he kept thinking about what Victoire could possibly throw at him this time.
Vic was black and white and he was grey, and typically every encounter could be ended in one of two ways. The first Vic could end like a volcano scorching the other students, or it’d end with Ely clutching his chair and feel tense with exhaustion. “Vicky.”he drawled out once he saw her in vicinity, and knowing just how to flare her up using only a single nickname

ELY & ALICE

Alice noticed the movement that seemed to shift through his body, something she wouldn’t expect at this time of the day. It felt like an energy that would perhaps strike her at eleven in the evening instead. As he commented on her demeanor Alice arched a brow, leaning forward a bit, elbows on the table. “Hmm, you caught me. Haven’t slept much.” It seemed there were many things people were losing sleep over. Grief, work, shagging, and much more. “I’m more rubbish at sleeping than Divination. You seem, energetic though.” Alice pointed out and took another sip, putting a smile on her face as she did for most people’s benefit, even her own.
“I’m not energetic, I’m just alert.”he dismissed with a shrug, but that was in part that he was a morning person. Not in that he could wake up hours before breakfast and be busy, but when he was up - he was up. It was simple really, but everyone else always seemed so sluggish and dripping with regret for leaving their beds. The smile on her face felt forced and the boy narrowed his eyes, catching it, but not commenting on it. “What’s the prank of the day?”
