I really wanna quickly talk about Froy and his Mexican heritage because every now and again I see people online say that Froy isn’t Mexican because he was born in the United States but from my opinion I think he has every right to class himself as Mexican. He actually calls himself Mexican-American because that’s exactly what he is, I don’t think it matters where you are born if your adapted to a particular culture or a heritage growing up you very much have every right to call yourself whatever that may be.
Froy has always been outspoken about his Mexican side and has spoken about how much he hates the erasure. Just because he’s whitepassing (his words) and was born in the US doesn’t mean he can’t call himself Mexican. His father is Mexican and he can literally speak fluent spanish. He lived in Mexico as a child and has very much grown up rooted in it’s culture, not sure how much more Mexican he can get. He has spoken about how he use to get bullied by neighbourhood kids because he is mexican, his father too. He also said he went the first 12yrs of his life only ever communicating to his father in spanish, not english and talking about the difficulties of speaking two languages and adapting accents as a child.
I get people don’t like it when they see certain celebs call themselves of a certain heritage like Mexican when they’ve never set foot on that territory or knows the language or culture but that isn’t Froy, he is very much Mexican as he is American. (He one of a fair few that can actually give a full interview in Spanish, he’s done it so many times).
This is just a general thing because I see discourse on it sometimes out of the blue online.
