masterlist + rules + taglist.
SecretGf!Jackie whose first meeting with you wasn’t anything special or dramatic. She had gotten into an argument with Shauna earlier that day, which was surprising but not completely uncommon. And out back behind the school, she found you: a cigarette in hand and seeming to be completely unbothered with the world. Jackie was disheveled, with red eyes and a snotty nose. You didn’t say anything, simply lighting a cigarette and handing it to her. (She hated it. Coughed loudly and almost got the two of you caught. It’s the thought that counts though.)
SecretGf!Jackie who pretends she doesn’t know you when around others—because, truthfully, she doesn’t. Not yet at least. And she’s Jackie Taylor, she can’t hang around someone who is ‘lesser’ than her, no? Besides, she has Shauna by her side again. (She was barely angry at her for less than an hour.)
SecretGf!Jackie who doesn’t get a chance to properly speak to you until she finds you at a party Randy threw. She doesn’t know why she went, mainly because Jeff was going—and he’s passed out drunk on a couch somewhere now—plus, Shauna didn’t feel like going out either, so it was better than staying home. Jackie never expected to see you here, though; leaned up against a wall, red party cup in hand. She didn’t say anything at first, too nervous (when was Jackie ever nervous?), not until you noticed her and struck up a conversation with her. It was the best night she had had in a while.
SecretGf!Jackie who gradually began talking to you—in private, of course. Hidden away from the eyes of asshole and gossipy teenagers. Jackie didn’t need anyone coming up with some silly ideas, the two of you are just friends. She didn’t even want to imagine the heart attack her mother would have if she found out about the time you two spent together.
SecretGf!Jackie who sneaks you in through her bedroom window. It’s usually Jeff who does this, but she’s grown more fond of your company recently. You don’t know why you’re doing this for Jackie. For all you know, she’s just some spoiled, bitchy rich girl like everyone else in town. But the moment you see that smile light up on her face, eagerly rushing you inside, you can’t help but shove all those thoughts away.
SecretGf!Jackie who, in the beginning, slowly spends less time with Shauna in favor of you. Obviously, this doesn’t go well with the doe-eyed girl. Jackie is oblivious at first, viewing you as just a close friend. But, not Shauna level type of friend… something more. Of course, she can’t recognize these feelings for the life of her.
SecretGf!Jackie who only understands how she feels about you months into the friendship. Jeff broke up with her, again. It’s a common occurrence for almost everyone in her life by now. On again, off again. No one’s surprised, they break up with each other all the time. But it doesn’t make it hurt any less. What did help, though, was you being there: sneaking in like you always do, holding her in bed, and not saying anything. Just letting her cry. Usually, she would call Shauna. But the girl has been pulling away recently and Jackie doesn’t know if it’s her fault or something else entirely.
SecretGf!Jackie who when the two of you first kissed it isn’t in an extremely romantic setting in the rain or after a big fight. It’s simply behind the bleachers. You sometimes watch Jackie after practice, she doesn’t like you being there most of the time, not wanting to risk being seen with you. Not in a rude way, just... her reputation matters. But today, you broke the ‘rules,’ meeting her right outside the soccer field after practice. She was pissed off, of course. Yet, you didn’t care.
“You’re not supposed to be here, (#).” She says, hands on her hips, trying to seem disappointed. But she’s not, actually. If anything, she feels giddy at the fact you’re here. Maybe it’s from excitement or the rush of possibly being caught.
“I know,” you respond flatly, a smirk making its way across your face. You don’t want to hold Jackie up, not really. Shauna’s probably waiting for her on hand and foot somewhere. And you both know how Shipman can get. “But… I wanted to see you.”
Jackie clicks her tongue, rolling her eyes. Not rudely, more bratty if anything else. “Right. Of course,” her tone is teasing, prodding at you gently. “I would’ve came to you.” She walks closer, her arms sliding themselves around your waist. There’s a look in her eyes now, you can tell: still confident, just less now.
SecretGf!Jackie who you skip class with because, yeah, you should be proper girls and get an education and go to a great college and marry an awesome man. Or, you can break into the janitors closet and do everything two girls shouldn’t be doing and surely be shamed by the lord himself. Do you really care though?
SecretGf!Jackie whose parents deem you a bad influence on their oh-so precious daughter. You, the—predetermined by their views—future high-school drop out who is convincing Jackie to skip class and focus on you instead of her grades. You, the social outcast who is a girl lover trying to indoctrinate Jackie. Of course, what they don’t know—or refuse to believe—is that their daughter willingly engages in all kinds of acts with you and more.
SecretGf!Jackie who has almost gotten caught with you plenty of times by the Yellowjackets. The girls all have an inkling that something is going on between the two of you, but they don’t say anything—not to you, at least. Jackie is the one who has to take the brunt of their probing questions and innuendos.
SecretGf!Jackie who you consistently get into arguments with about Shauna and Jeff, because, yes: you are jealous of them and how easily they can be seen with Jackie without it being a big deal. Without receiving weird stares and questioning looks, because why would Jackie Taylor hang out with someone of the likes of you?
SecretGf!Jackie who promises you things will return back to how they always were after she comes back him from winning nationals. You doubt that, but you say nothing. Only giving her a kiss goodbye the night before without ever knowing that would be your final one together.

Hey, yeah, I accept platonic requests, dw !!
Just send in your request and I’ll write it for you !
It's subtle, but his eyes shake when he says "And I break the fourth wall".
I don't think it's just for comedic effect per say, or that he's even talking to US, the real audience.
Jax might be desperately hoping that outside observers are monitoring the game and the actions of its players.
He could even be thinking that if he causes enough violence or stirs up enough trouble, the developers might jack him out (that's just how I would rationalize slipping into cruel behavior if I REALLY thought that finding an escape without outside influence was impossible).
Like acting out for attention.
But if what Pomni said in ep 5 about finding the headset in an abandoned building is true, then there would be no hope of anyone pulling them out.
No one's watching them. They're all alone.
They all HAVE to have internally acknowledged that fact by this point.
I just got the subtle vibe with that tiny eye-shake of:
tags / cw. fem reader. (closeted) lesbian jackie. cheating (on jeff). jealous reader. implications of jackie’s death. secret relationship. repressed queerness. homophobia. reader doubts (?) jackie’s love for her. “(#)” → “Y/N.” 516 wc.
“It’s just nationals, you know. I’ll come back.”
Jackie says to comfort you, though her words don’t do much to soothe the queasy feeling in your stomach.
Nationals is something she and the rest of the Yellowjackets have been working towards since forever. A way to prove they aren’t just a bunch of silly little girls running around on a field and, instead, actual champions.
Besides, being a team captain and a national winner looks good on college applications.
But you also know what this means for your ‘relationship’ (or whatever you want to call it) with her. Jackie loves you. You know that. You feel it in your bones, in your soul, and on your lips each time she kisses you with that cherry lip gloss of hers.
Because she’s your girlfriend—maybe not official, maybe never official. But you don’t care that you can’t scream that fact out to the rest of the world. Or how Jeff is the one who gets to hold her hand everywhere she goes or proudly drunkenly make out with her.
She loves you.
She has too.
“(#), I—“ Jackie sighs, sitting down next to you on her bed. Trying to formulate her words, she runs a hand through her perfect dirty blonde hair. “I’ll be gone for less than a week. And then once I come back we’ll continue as normal, ok?” She smiles, bright and pretty with hope behind her eyes. Inside, though, you know other emotions are swirling around.
There won’t be any ‘normal’ once she comes back.
Homecoming (which she won’t even be here for), graduation, then… life. Simple as that.
Yet, a part of yourself decides not to tell her how you feel. How you wish she chose you over Shauna, maybe for once she would prioritize you first instead of her. You fantasize sometimes about going to college with Jackie, a pink and green dorm room. Just like she always talks about.
Or how if you were born a boy, or if she were a boy, then maybe your relationship would be acceptable. You’d be able to go out on dates and hold hands and not constantly look over your shoulder, wondering if someone saw you or not.
Jeff doesn’t deserve Jackie. Not the way you do. But neither you nor him combined can make the girl of your dreams pick either of you over Shauna. You can’t compete. You know that, it’s futile.
“Okay,” you comply. Not happily. Not willingly. You just don’t want one of your last nights before she leaves to turn into an argument. “Okay. For you, I’ll wait. Until you come back.”
A half-hearted smile makes its way across your face. You bring yourself closer to her and kiss her lips gently. It’s soft, passionate, raw, and true. Because that’s how you feel about Jackie. You can’t sugar coat your feelings for her, and you can’t downplay them either.
Jackie Taylor is just the type of girl that you wait for. Whether that be weeks, months, years, or even decades: you never stop waiting.
fellas, i think these sly and cunning anons are trying to trick me into drawing curlya kissing
but as for thoughts: it's one of those things that she reads about and sees happening out in the wild and really wishes to experience for herself, but it just keeps Not Working Out for her. it certainly doesn't help that she is too social rules-pilled to just kiss anyone willy-nilly, and that her eventual slow burn love interest is about as dense as a rock. looks like she has to make the first move after all, proper ladylike conduct be damned
