After the knowledge of supernaturals was exposed to the human world, vampires, werewolves, and witches have been fighting to regain their place in the world once again. It’s been a year since all species besides humans were ordered by law to leave New York City, and now that twelve months have passed, the supernatural species are ready to once again take back the land they have owned for so long.
Times are tough, and the road ahead is treacherous, but there’s a rebellion brewing beneath the feet of the people, and if we all unite, we just might be able to see this rebellion through to fruition.
This is the dawn of a new era. It’s a revolution, and if we work together we just might make it out alive.
Are you ready to fight?

MOBILE NAV || TALK TAG
This is an awkward message to write because I don’t want to call anyone in particular out publicly, but just because the main hasn’t been active in months doesn’t mean that our characters are up for grabs to be used by others partially or fully. Intellectual property is still intellectual property, and all of those rights still do belong to me unless you played an actual OC.
During my almost 3am in the morning random RP browsing I found an RP that seems to have a member that has taken strong inspiration from three characters very dear to my heart and though I don’t want to accuse anyone, I have my suspicions. I guess I just want to put this out there as a general PSA especially because we still have characters actively posting every single day. Just because the main isn’t active doesn’t mean the characters are dead, and even if they were they’re still my intellectual property.
Obviously this doesn’t apply to like 99% of you, but for the 1% that might be casually browsing for “inspiration” please just don’t. I get too fired up and irritated, and it’s not good for my soul.
Other than that I love everyone and miss everyone that still follows the main. I have a lot of free time right now so who knows what might happen in the future, but for now I hope you’re all doing amazing with whatever you’re doing at the moment!!
Samuel Charles Tolbert || Human/Hunter || Neutral
Portrayed by Ben Barnes
Biography /
A family always lead the life of being connected even if it was never intended to be. One sibling would strive to be better than the other. One chose a life that was opposite than that of their cousin. It didn’t matter if it was intentional in the beginning, but as the course of life took itself on, one would come to find that you are what your family is. For the Tolberts, it started with hunting. They weren’t the best or the most known, but what they lacked in the physical aspects of what hunting supernaturals brought, they excelled in what made a hunter the most lethal – his weapon. Samuel Tolbert was the eldest of two to the eldest Tolbert children of three, and just like his father before him, Sammy had known of supernaturals before he even understood what being a supernatural meant. He had always known that he had two aunts, and though both were never seen, it was due to one having moved away and the other one being dead. It was always something that was known, and not discussed, about his Aunt Sammy, the person he was named after, but it wasn’t until he was older that it made sense why. The Tolberts weren’t fighters, or so Sammy came to learn. His Aunt Laura was the one that had turned into a fighter and left the family, so it was never something discussed other than that their family held the smarts and not the brawns. It didn’t take a genius to put two and two together to know that the siblings weren’t close after their eldest sister was killed, more than likely at the hands of a supernatural, yet it was all information that Sammy had contributed to picking up on. That was how he learned – picking up the small details to put the entire story together. His dad trained him and his little brother to follow in the same field he had, which was engineering and weapons mastery. Knowing how to hold a gun, take it apart, which bullet was for werewolves, which was for vampires, what was the best weapon to kill a witch, what vervain looked like in solid form – it had been embedded into Sammy’s brain, yet never was the will to learn the combative form. He knew how to take down a vampire, but if you asked him to apply it in person, unless they were tied down, he couldn’t. It was something that embarrassed him, especially coming from a family that were supposed to be ‘hunters’ and it wasn’t until he had to go with his father to attend the funeral to his estranged Aunt Laura that drove him to want to learn. His smarts could only do so much, but if someone like Laura took so long to be taken down, what kind of chance would he have?
Important Points /
--Sammy had never got to know the side of his family that his dad never talked to, apart from attending the funeral and seeing his cousins from a distance. Even though it wasn’t as if they lived on opposite sides of the United States, seeing as his family still resided in Boston, Massachusetts, yet he could see how different the Tolberts and the Kingsmans appeared. There was a strain to their face, and even the house itself held many clues as to where weapons could be hidden. The fact that they were trained in that area and he wasn’t was what drew Sammy to seek out more than just sitting at a desk and constructing a new design for a gun. What if he was able to put that into play? Actually use it against the supernaturals his family was so vehemently against as opposed to using test subjects or objects at long distances? For his life, he had been the lanky, rich boy that didn’t do anything except get his Masters early on, he needed more.
--Boston was an easier place than New York when it came to distributing firearms, especially with the various laws being constructed by different states and clientele. Apart from his engineering degree, Sammy had also taken interest in marketing; trying to find a way to easily sell the weapons that his family was making without giving away what they actually were. Sure, the majority of the hunting community had knowledge of their weapon distribution, but learning how to sell them was what he wanted to learn, too. It was quite common for him to visit New York, not under the watchful eye of his father since he had always been the type to be opposed to the city because it meant more eyes on the family, but it was liberating to be around so many various cultures as opposed to the academic upbringing Sammy was used to. It drove him to go in search of other places that may be prime candidates to home his company he hoped to have soon – since the life of a hunter was never determined. Exactly as he had lived by, after the age of twenty-one, a hunter lived on borrowed time and they had to make the best of it. From Los Angeles, to Chicago, every major city he visited and it wasn’t until arriving in Seattle that he was met with the person, or at least, one of the people that influenced him to not just sit on his ass any longer but be a player on the field instead of one on the stands.
--Zachary Kingsman was a cousin that had been staring solemnly at his parent’s death, also one that he came to find out that had left the hunting world altogether after he had left high school rather than delving fully into it without having schooling holding him back. The thought alone made him think of his father, the effect that it had on him that one sister had died and the other had run off, yet the fact that it was the eldest Kingsman that had chosen such a nonviolent lifestyle made him wonder, what about his other two cousins? Sammy had been so influenced to delve even farther into his hunting after attending his aunt’s funeral, why hadn’t the eldest Kingsman either? The Tolberts weren’t the most famous hunting families, but the Kingsmans were, and if what happened to Zachary had happened to Andrew and Kaden, maybe New York City was the right place to be for Sammy. A lifetime of knowing and the few years of being able to, he figured maybe that was where it should be for the family and for the life that had drove him to where he was then. After all, the city was the hive for hunters, he would be no where near dry in making a name of himself.
I had a question about reopening. Past members will be able to keep their characters, right?
We actually discussed this over the past couple of days because we knew that it would be one of the biggest questions if we decided to reopen. That being said, we decided that we wanted to do things differently than we did last time because we are both in agreement that things just didn’t work out the way we wanted to, so if we reopen there are going to be two major changes to how we do it.
The first change is that every individual will only be allowed one character, so even if you play multiple characters right now, if we decide to reopen the number you could potentially continue to play will be reduced to one with no exceptions. There were quite a few struggles regarding activity when people had multiple characters and just couldn’t keep up, and I feel like it was one of the main contributing factors that led to Elysium’s downfall.
The other change that would be made is that every member will be required to reapply and will be considered alongside anyone else that applies for the same character. The way that we did it last time I feel inspired some cliquishness and also alienated a lot of new or potential members too because it didn’t seem like the most fair of a process. So yeah, everyone would be on equal footing when it comes to applying for these characters. If we reopen Elysium, we want to do it as a brand new start, and that means considering every single application equally to try and find the person that envisions the character as we see them best (especially since characters will have undergone some major changes since Elysium shut down). Because of this we’ll also probably halt other characters being able to post if we start working on a revamp process to try and avoid any potential awkwardness or tension if things go a certain way.
So yeah, in case that’s too long and drawn out, there will be two major changes: members will only be allowed a single character, no multiples, and everyone will be required to reapply and all characters will be free game, no reserved ones this time. If you have any other questions feel free to send them in!
I would just like to say thank you so much for everyone who participated in our final event for the time-being. As of now Elysium is on an indefinite hiatus, although we welcome our members to keep posting on the dash if they would like. If there’s enough interest of people still posting, we might have some casual events or whatnot, but we’ll see how things go. Any future updates will be posted on the main regarding a potential re-opening, so make sure to continue to follow Elysium, or at least check out the blog regularly, to see if anything changes.
Besides that, I just want to thank everyone once again for the amazing twenty months that we’ve had on Elysium, and I wish everyone the best in their future writings!!
ADMIN DANNAH
As Admin Dannah stated, thank you to you all who stayed around for the final event. It has been a privilege to write with you all. It is understandable to us if you seek other roleplays to fill your time, remember, don’t use the characters that are here in Elysium. They were created for Elysium thus they should be used here and no where else. If you choose to not stick around, it’s entirely understandable, we just want you guys to enjoy roleplaying as we have with you for the past nearly two years. If you stick around, I’ll be here to plot. If not, I hope we come across each other in the future.
Today is the last day of the Celebration of Life event, so make sure that if there are any other plots during the event that you would like to explore that you get those posted before midnight tonight! After that, as mentioned on the blog, there are no planned events in the near future (unless Izzy or I get a wild idea), and we’ll be closing to new applications until further notice. I still have a habit of checking the main, so if you have any questions, feel free to send them in, and if there are any major changes we’ll make sure to post a public update about them!!
The loss of Jasper Pitzen was something felt by the entire supernatural world, and something that they’ve been having to live over and over again since the media hasn’t stopped the continuous coverage. It has sparked another round of intense debate regarding the supernaturals, but, as per usual, supernaturals themselves are hardly ever involved in these discussions. The political world might be on fire, but for those that knew him, this last week has been one that has been mostly just overwhelmed with the process of trying to come to terms with what has happened and trying to move past such a graphic act of violence. No matter how much violence one has seen, it is still a shocking experience to see a person that they knew shot dead on live television.
The Pitzen family and Pitzen Industries have both been rather tight-lipped throughout this entire time, and the funeral itself has been kept to a very small, intimate level. It was pretty common knowledge that the Pitzen family was against how outspoken Jasper was regarding supernatural issues, and it came to no surprise that supernaturals that Jasper knew and worked with were not invited to the funeral or to any other part of the mourning process for the werewolf. Instead, a select group of people both close to him or influencers in the community decided that there still needed to be a way for the supernatural community to come together in such a trying time, and thus the Celebration of Life Party was born.
It’s not political, it’s not designed to make a statement, but rather this celebration is just that, a celebration. It is designed to celebrate Jasper, it is designed to celebrate how much the community has overcome, and it is designed to celebrate how far the community will go. We have all made it this far, we’ll continue to be able to survive, even if by the skin of our teeth, as we keep on pushing for the world Jasper was striving for.
The party is being held in a warehouse, it’s one of the few locations large enough to host as many people as have been invited, and alcohol will be freely flowing all night as the music plays. Tomorrow is another day to take up political arms against the oppression that supernaturals are facing (physical arms for some individuals), but tonight is truly just a night to try and relax and have fun in memory of our fallen. It’s been so long since the supernatural community has just had a night to enjoy without anything going wrong, and it’s long overdue to be able to just enjoy both life and enjoy the time with the people we spend so much time around as well.
The Celebration of Life Party will go live tomorrow, Friday, August 11th at 12PM PST and will conclude Tuesday, August 15th at 11:50PM PST. All supernaturals have been invited, and any humans that have been invited by supernaturals are welcome to attend as well. There has been so many awful things that have happened in the city as of late that it will be a nice stress relief for our characters to be able to just have a casual time to have fun and enjoy life. Jasper might be dead, but he at least died for something, and after the Celebration of Life tonight, people will most definitely go into the future trying to spark a difference in the world due to his loss. For tonight, have fun. Tomorrow is when the real world-changing work begins.
I'm a little confused so is it closing as in no more posting or?
I guess the best way that I would describe it when it comes to what my future plans are is currently closing to new applications. I know that I’ll continue to be posting on Kaden, I know that Izzy will be continuing to post as well, and I’ve heard from a couple of others that they also have plans to continue writing too. Like I said in the admin note, I don’t want to promise that Elysium will officially reopen because I don’t want to get hopes and then destroy them, but knowing myself and my attachment to the RP and the characters I think that anybody that knows me knows what’s most likely to happen.
Like I mentioned in the post I won’t be posting activity checks or writing up events or anything, but I know that as long as I still have people to interact with that Kaden’s account will still be in use. Take that how you will. I encourage any that would like to stay to continue to stay, but I also understand completely if the announcement makes you want to go expand your horizons and look for new RPs as well!!
Announcements like this are never easy, especially when there has been healthy and continuous activity on the dash. Initially, before anything else, I would like to thank you all for that. Your dedication and commitment to something that began as my little thought child in the middle of Psychology way back in 2014 has become an adventure that has spanned over twenty months. Whether you’ve been here since day one or joined a bit more recently than that, your contributions have been appreciated so, so much. You’ve helped to shape this into a journey and a legacy that I never could have even started to fathom.
Our next event, Jasper’s Celebration of Life Party, will be the last event held on Elysium for the foreseeable future. We have not yet decided if we want to revamp Elysium and potentially come back at some point, but right now, at least speaking personally, I feel like after twenty months Elysium has become something that I more feel obligated to do (at least when it comes to running the main, creating events, etc.) than something that I truly enjoy doing. Activity for some people has been amazing and for others not so much, and I feel like it’s starting to become a battle that I just don’t want to have to fight any longer.
This decision is one that I’ve been kicking around for a couple of weeks now with Izzy, and we’ve finally come to the conclusion that it’s better to just get it over with than to keep dragging it on whenever we’ve both kind of decided that this fate is inevitable. The last thing that I want to do is to have more and more people to apply with the internal knowledge that we’re considering shutting down. I hate to have people spend time on applications, character blogs, and getting to know their characters just to rip it all away after so much hard work.
I want to keep the option open that Elysium might come back, but I want to refrain from promising that or promoting a timeline just in case we decide against it in the long run. I hold full responsibility for things that went wrong in this last revamp, most notably I feel that I rushed it much quicker than I should have, and for that, and how it could have potentially negatively impacted Elysium I apologize. I can only speak from personal experience, but I have put my heart and soul into this RP for so, so long that this does kill me a little bit, but I know that it’s for the best to end (whether permanently or semi-permanently) on a high note than to have it fade off and die.
Further information regarding our final event will come shortly, by tonight at the latest, and although I hope that everyone will participate, I do understand if activity suddenly drops with the release of this admin note. Because these are all characters that were written by myself or Izzy I do respectfully request that these characters aren’t taken to other RPs solely because they’re characters that we wrote from scratch and put so much of ourselves into. If Elysium does end up coming back, I do know that there will be quite a few changes with how we open, for example, allowing even returning members just a single character due to struggles that we’ve had over the past couple months from how we went about it this last time, and I also know that we will cut down the character list substantially to make it a lot more intimate of a group than it is now with so many extra open characters.
Although we have been playing with ideas of how we would change things if we returned, I do want to stress how much of an if that possibility is. I know that I will personally continue to post on Kaden just as I did during the last revamp because I just can’t let go, but make sure to continue following the main if you want any updates regarding decisions we will finalize in the future. Whether or not we decide to come back, and whether or not you decide to come back if we do, I thank you all once again for your continued support and participation in what has become the best RP I’ve ever been a part of.
Thank you so much again for making this such an amazing, wild ride. For what you’ve given me with Elysium, I love you all.
Remember, just like last month all registered werewolves are required to report to the undisclosed location fifteen miles north of the NYC suburbs to be locked up and held by the government throughout the entirety of the full moon. All those registered that do not report will have a warrant put out for their capture (dead or alive), and any wolves found, registered or unregistered, roaming the city tonight in wolf form will be shot on sight Good luck!!
Feel free to do full moon posts if you would like, but we are also aware that the Assassination plot drop is still going on, so if you already fill overwhelmed with threads or plots, no worries. This month, it’s up to you!!
The following characters are currently inactive when held to the definition of activity in our rules. These members have 24 hours to post in-character or message the main, or else their roles will be opened.
are fcs debatable or up for change? i love the character but i have an fc i'd love to use with their character!!
Yes, face claims are negotiable depending on if the admins believe that the face fits what we imagine to fit the character or not. You’re welcome to send in a suggestion either on or off anon for us to look over and consider!
Hello, guys. I’m here for the day, so if you’ve got any questions, comments, concerns, shoot them over. Pun intended because of the most recent mini-event going on. Applications are also welcomed since they’re accepted as they come in, so... Check us out!
So, as you all have seen, our newest event has taken place! Whether your character wants to remain strong, has allowed the shock to take over them, or have just found yourself finding them angry, it’s al time to show! Paras, starters, self-paras, this is the time to develop your character while they’re under such immense stress!
For anyone browsing, come and join us as the characters of Elysium endure the death of one of their beloved supernatural spokespersons. We accept as the apps come!
Every since the attack in New York City on the Fourth of July, there was talk throughout the political community that something needed to be done when it came to the supernatural and human conflict. Those ‘rational’ members, depending on your views, of Congress and the Senate pushed to explain that no matter what differences these species might have that it still didn’t in any way, shape, or form make what had happened okay. Bombing a public location? Killing individuals? Injuring many others including humans? In their words there was no way that anything like that could ever be okay, and they pushed and pushed until something was done.
Jasper Pitzen had been known throughout the entire world for his entire life. He was born into the household of a wealthy businessman and a socialite, living in the lap of luxury and the media alongside the likes of the Hiltons of the current day and the Vanderbilts of old. He was a public face to many through both his good years and his bad years, and the public was unsurprisingly shocked to learn that he was not only supernatural, but a triggered werewolf. His prominence in the supernatural and his need to be a leader made him the perfect candidate to give a speech on behalf of supernaturals in Washington D.C. Alongside prominent members of the government, anti-hate groups, ministers and priests, and so many others as a show of unity, Jasper was flown out to represent the supernatural needs of not only the American community, but the community of supernaturals all across the globe.
His speech was written to be short when compared to some of the officials that were speaking, but it was filled with emotional rhetoric and things that were supposed to draw the whole world in. He wanted to prove that they were American citizens just like anyone else, and that after thousands of years of humanity and supernaturals living side by side the fact that supernaturals were now revealed shouldn’t have changed anything. He started with stories of his childhood, of growing up in a household that had no idea that any of this existed and of the shock that occurred when he became what he was. He explained the hurt, the fear, and was starting to go into the details of how his grandmother helped guide him through learning to control his wolf when the shot rang out. A direct hit to the center of his skull right above the eyes. The event was being shown all across the world live either on television or on a live stream. Things like this were purposely shown on a delay just in case of something as horrific as this, and yet the cameras kept rolling, a conspiracy by at least one person (but most likely many, many more) to normalize violence against supernaturals even more. The startled screams and panics of those around him, Jasper’s body falling lifelessly on the stage, the blood beginning to pool out around his body as the speech not only continued to be shown, but the camera angle was even switched to a wide shot. It was horrific... It is horrific, after all, you’re watching it unfold right now.
The Televised Attack will go live tomorrow, Saturday, August 5th at 12PM PST and will go until Thursday, August 10th at 11:50PM PST. The location of the speech was in Washington D.C., so characters couldn’t have directly attended, but there were many gatherings and showings of the televised event that went so, so wrong. Strange Brew and Nature’s Botanicals in particular both had it on when it happened, Strange Brew on TV, and Nature’s Botanical on the radio that always plays overhead, so if you’re wanting your character to be around others when it goes down, these would both be excellent potential locations to be at. You could also of course be watching it at an apartment, maybe in the company of your loved ones, or have it on in the background as you go about your day to day life. It’s just another thing going wrong in a long list of horrible events, so let’s see how everyone reacts. Are you still going to be able to keep your hopes up for things getting better? Or have even you finally given in to what seems to be becoming an all too depressing reality?
Congratulations ANNA! You have been accepted as Tarryn Davidson. Please go through the checklist and send in your account within 24 hours. If you need more time, make sure you send a message to the main.
Now, there’s always an excitement when a hunter comes into a mainly supernaturally based roleplay, but when that hunter has the viewpoint that Tarryn Davidson has, let’s just say, this is going to be interesting. How does a hunter be a hunter when they have so many ties to the very things she hunts? Your para sample gave such a beautiful insight to it, what goes through her mind – the remorse, the regret – yet, you still grasped the optimism a person like Tarryn has. You’ve already shown such an immense understanding of her in your application, and now there’s only forward to go with bringing her to life in Elysium. I know I speak for Admin Dannah and I when I say this, this app was a grand surprise after our dry spell and we couldn’t be more than ecstatic to see it for a character we both love. Anna, thank you for choosing Tarryn to be your’s and we can’t wait to see it happen. Welcome to Elysium!!

IC INFO
Character Name: Tarryn Alana Davidson
Why did you choose this character:
I’ve been rewriting my answer to this question a couple of times now, because I have no idea where to start or what to list first. I think the element that stood out to me the most, is that she’s only hunting the supernaturals she considers bad. It’s not only a noble character trait to judge people for who they are instead of what they are, it’s also an interesting and complicated characters trait when it comes to something as subjective as good and bad. Because how do you determine where to draw the line? Which crimes are still acceptable and which aren’t? Which parts of being a vampire, witch and werewolf are acceptable and which aren’t? When does a supernatural creature cross the line in such a way that he or she deserves to die?
But, what I love is that Tarryn is not just a huntress who covers up that part of her life by mingling in society and having fake hobbies. Tarryn actually does have a more complete and diverse life. I love the element of her making a living out of soccer. Tarryn can’t live without that part of her life. To me it feels like her hunting activities are only completing the life she had already built for herself, but she wouldn’t want to live without all the other parts. She wouldn’t want to live without her family and friends, despite them being supernatural. She wouldn’t want to live without her sports, without ending up out of breath because she’s chasing a ball. And I can imagine her having so many more interests like architecture, history, culture. Hunting is one of many activities, and she loves it especially because it makes her feel like she can make this wonderful world even more wonderful, but it’s not her entire life.
Describe your plan for them:
Of course I want to play around with the delicate line between good and evil that Tarryn has drawn. I think I might need some time to figure out where she draws the line and what she considers okay and then it would be amazing if those beliefs would be challenged. Of course, the obvious route would be that one of the people close to her would cross her own line, but I’ve never really been the plotting type and I’d like to see what happens in play before I set out my course. I do however think that one way or another Tarryn will end up being at war with herself. Either because she fails her duty to make this wonderful world more wonderful. Or because she is forced to punish or even kill someone she has sworn not to harm.
I also think that due to her stance Tarryn will eventually get the feeling she doesn’t really belong to any faction. The hunters don’t want to have her because she trusts those she calls her friends and is therefore protecting an alpha werewolf. She will however never be part of the supernatural community either because she is only human and can benefit from all the advantages she has over them. She doesn’t need to register. She doesn’t need to look over her shoulder. She doesn’t need to be creative to stay alive. Due to her unique stance I can imagine that Tarryn ends up stuck in the middle, all by herself. And when she discovers that the only person she believes to be on her side has never shared her beliefs at all, she might end up in a terrible position where she thinks she does have to choose somehow in the end.
But I actually want her to find the strength to not choose in the end. I want her to stand for her own beliefs. I want her to make her own rules and I want her to communicate those rules clearly to those she holds close and dear in her life. She will realize that a union between humans and supernaturals is only possible when both sides are willing to give and take some. I think that over time she might grow into someone who can take the lead in defining the rules for this union. After all, she has connections to both sides and feels for both sides. I can imagine her trying to find people like her, no matter how hard that might be. Because if she wants to make the world a better place, she can’t just erase those who cross the lines, she has to change the world, the rules of this world and the way people are living together. I’d like her to learn that the perfect world she would like to live in, can only exist if she helps building it.
Describe your character’s feelings and reactions to the initial reveal of the supernatural world:
When Tarryn was told by Andrew that the supernatural world did exist, that vampires, werewolves and witches roamed the earth, it was as if all the missing pieces fell into place. She couldn’t exactly pinpoint what it was, but instead of freaking out, like maybe a normal girl her age would have done, she was somehow relieved. Firstly she was relieved because Andrew was honest with her. She understood that it couldn’t have been easy for him telling her the truth and still he did it. It not only made her feel trusted, it also made her realize that maybe she shouldn’t let this man go, shouldn’t let him escape. However, there were more things causing her relief. More than once she had wondered how so many people were capable of doing such horrible things in such a beautiful world. She had always had eye for the good side, for the pretty side of things, but she had also been painfully aware of the dark sides and hidden threats, especially in New York City. When she found out that a lot of those crimes however were committed by supernatural monsters, it was as if everything started to make sense again. She had not hesitated to ask Andrew if he could teach her how to hunt them, how to do something about everything she had always considered unfair. Where she had felt powerless before, she had now discovered that she wasn’t powerless at all. She could do something. She could change something. She could make sure that this beautiful world could become even more beautiful by killing those who dared to harm it.
Describe your character’s feelings and reactions to the current state of the world, and how it impacts them as an individual:h
Tarryn has mixed feelings on the world as it currently is. She understands that the humans are afraid and that they are trying everything they can to protect themselves, but she also understands that the supernaturals can’t keep on living like they do now. She witnesses first hand how the rules impact the supernatural and how they are all afraid, even those who have never done any harm and never intended to do any harm. She would actually like to change the world herself, but she has no idea yet where to start of how to do that. After all, up until a few years ago she had not known anything about the supernatural either and she understands that some people did freak out when they discovered that vampires, witches and werewolves were roaming their world.
Tarryn has a big heart, and therefore she also has a lot of empathy. She can easily understand someone’s point of view and she trusts easily. She has a low tolerance for injustice and before the entire world knew about the supernatural, she brought justice by hunting those that hunted humans. Now she kind of feels obligated to also bring justice the other way round. Tarryn believes that it should be possible to live in harmony. After all, human, vampire, witch or werewolf, they’re all people in the end. She knows that not all the bad in the world is caused by supernaturals, just like she knows that not all the good in the world is created by humans. She considers it unfair to judge people by what they are instead of who they are.
Therefore the current rules don’t fit in the world she has envisioned when she has started hunting again. Tarryn believes there has to be another way, but currently she has the feeling not that many people share her point of view and she doesn’t have the courage yet to stand up against the majority.

Her hand trembled while she placed her finger on the trigger. She had done this before. She had done this countless times before and still it felt different this time. She felt her chest moving up and down rapidly and her heart was hammering against her ribs. Whoever she was planning on shooting could have a family.
Maybe he was in love. Maybe he had children to take care of. Maybe he was the only one visiting his parents once a week to do the grocery shopping for them. Maybe he had a cousin somewhere, a cousin who loved him, a cousin who told him all her worries and sorrows. Maybe he would wrap his arm around her shoulders and would rock her back and forth until all her tears were cried.
She lowered the gun and licked her lips. Once she had thought that this had been the missing piece, the thing making her life complete. Once she had thought that by killing monsters she would make the world more beautiful, one supernatural creature at a time. But she couldn’t imagine the world without Kyle. And just like she couldn’t imagine her world without him, there was probably someone out there who couldn’t imagine their world without the supernatural being she was about to shoot.
He could have been turned against his will. He could have become something he had not even known existed. He could have been forced to live a life he had never wanted to live himself, he would never have chosen himself.
Tarryn stared at her target again and for a moment she saw Kyle standing there.
She had played a part in him becoming a werewolf. She had been the one inviting him to go hunting with her. She had been the one giving him a gun. She had been the one teaching him how to pull the trigger. She had turned him into a killer and she had therefore unknowingly activated the werewolf gene he had been carrying all that time.
She blinked and shook her head in an attempt to shake the image of her shooting Kyle.
Kyle was not a bad person. He had never been one and he would never become one. Kyle was her cousin, her almost brother. He had maybe become a werewolf, but he was still the same Kyle. And she had been shooting people like him. She was planning on shooting someone like him.
She dropped the gun and then she started shaking. A shiver rolled down her spine and her knees started trembling until they could no longer carry the weight of her body. She fell down on her knees in the mud and tears rolled down her cheeks.
Once she had enjoyed hunting. Once she had thought that this had been that one thing that would make her life perfect. Now she was wondering how she would ever be able to hunt again without being afraid of shooting someone innocent, someone who didn’t deserve to die.
