“Yeah, sounds fine.. like around two or something? Uhm.. the beach?” it was a favorite place of her. She loved the smell of salt in the air, the crashing of waves upon the sand. It was a spot she visited frequently, alone and with her friends. Alicia was already a step away, nodding gently. “I will.. but I’ll be there.. so, see you saturday, Elyza.”

“Two in the afternoon at the beach. Yeah sounds amazing.” Elyza smiled and let the girl walk away. She had scared her enough and she wondered if the girl would really show up on that saturday. “See you.” She told her before she went back to work. Her mind went already over what she should wear that saturday and if she could turn it into a date even while the girl said she might not be bi or lesbian, something could just tell her that she still didn’t realise it herself.

Alicia adjusted her grip on the cup, giving her something to do with her hands as they were both occupied. As Elyza asked for confirmation it once more sounded more like a date to her than a friendly night out with a friend. She barely knew her, it wasn’t as if she could consider her friendly even. “The weekend I guess.. I mean I have school.. homework, but the weekend should be fine.” she shrugged, careful not to spill her drink. “Uh whatever works for me.. we can meet up..”

Elyza nodded. “Saturday afternoon? You say where and I’ll show up.” She smiled as she notice how uncomfortable the other was. If there was something she didn’t want to happen was for the other to feel uncomfortable or forced. “If something happens or you can’t come just ring me” Elyza told her and knew Alicia wanted to leave, at least her body showed that she wanted to leave.

“Yes.. I know, friends do that.” she was still very confused. Elyza was asking her out, but willing to not call it a date and go for drinks for a potential friendship. Yet the girl seemed still interested in more than that with her. “It’s.. unexpected, I say..” Alicia could easily walk out and forget about it all, but seeing this more vulnerable side to the usually flirting girl had her paused. A drink, there was no harm in there was it? The younger girl shrugged. “Yeah okay.. a drink sounds fine to me.”

Elyza waited and guessed the girl was going to say no. She’d been rejected before but getting rejected at her work in this way was probably the worse so she hoped the other would say yes. Elyza shifted her weight from one leg to another and watched the other struggle with an answer. Once she got a yes she was about to jump in the air but remained calm. “Tell me when you are available and where to be, or do you want me to pick you up?”

“I..” she licked sudden dry lips, eyes darting around the room finding everything interesting as long as she didn’t need to face the blonde. A roll of her shoulder was meant to ease the tension, though muscles remained stiff. “No.. I guess not.” but she wasn’t interested in girls, was she? “Straight girls usually don’t, however.” because she was straight, right? She liked boys and Elyza only frustrated her, nothing more. That was all. Wasn’t it?

Elyza waited patiently knowing she might have hit a button. “Straight girls go on drinks with other girls. They just don’t call it a date. So would you, otherwise, like to go for a drink with me?” The other seemed to be quiet lost in her own mind. It was just a simple question she asked but maybe she didn’t want to be seen with ‘a lesbian’. If needed she’d even put on a dress for the other so no one will assume she was on a date with a girl. “You’re thinking too much, I can almost hear your thoughts.”
