Let's just get one thing straight here, Nico didn't owe Marti shit about his past. Someone's past, especially where there is trauma involved, isn't a prize you get to unlock and gain the rights to because you're in a relationship with them. Nico was put in an impossible situation, because he was confronted with it all without any sort of warning. Can we, like, take a second to imagine what that triggered. He also clearly wasn't ready to talk about it. Which is very understandable considering the circumstances. Like, can we please not forget that it was an incredibly harrowing time for Nico. The boy he loved was put through something utterly horrifying because he dared to love Nico back. He was ripped out of Nico's life without a word. Which is horrific enough without adding Nico's BPD and his incredibly real fear of losing people into the mix. He was so broken that he had to leave school. It's not something you want to dredge up and trigger emotions about all over again. I'm not saying he's utterly blameless, that's not what this is about, but his avoidance of the truth came from an inability to discuss something deeply fucking painful. But Marti wouldn't let it go. He kept pushing the issue even though it was clearly something Nico didn't know how to talk about. One of the main reasons they broke up is because Marti couldn't accept that he didn't have a right to Nico's past. Not because Nico didn't love him enough to tell him. Love has nothing to do with it. All Nico does is love him. Don't invalidate his feelings because he has a past and because that past was meaningful and difficult to talk about. Fuck off.
