“You still have me,” Jane smirked, sweetly looking into his eyes. “I did help raise you after all.”
Gavin smiled softly, barely making a dimple on his cheek. He looked over at Jane and remained silent as he studied her features.
It wasn’t that he didn’t care about what she said. He just couldn’t think of the right words to say or even try to explain how grateful he was deep down to have known her all these years. She was the only friend he had left, after all. Everyone else either left or died because of his weakness and fear. Jane however... she just seemed to stick around longer. Always finding ways to keep herself safe, which comforted Gavin in a strange way.
