Neil / Aaron hate is so fucking funny bc their whole dynamic can be reduced to the fact that theyre both jealous of the relationship the other has with Andrew.
From Aarons POV Andrew is this force to be reckoned with, what he says goes and they all have to fall in line, but Andrew will listen to Neil and do stuff Neil asks of him. Neils pleading to break their deal means more to Andrew then when Aarons begging for the same thing. Aaron wants his brother to open up to him but Andrew doesnt show any emotions except if the person looking is Neil Josten. Aaron would have killed to have had an opportunity to get to know Andrew the way Neil knows him and he resents Neil for knowing so many things about Andrews past, for being told all of them by Andrew. Aaron cant understand his brother the way Neil can, and is jealous of how communication seems instinctive to andreil.
But from Neils POV he is desperate for a person to protect him and hide him ever since his mom died, he wants someone who will stand by him no matter what and it is clear to him Aaron is a bigger priority to Andrew then Neil. Neil is jealous of the fact that Aaron has Andrews undying loyalty without question. Aaron can act like an asshole to his brother, can look at Andrew like a monster and still have Andrews protection where as Neil had to learn it and had to get to know Andrew first. Moreso in the begining Neil is running out of time, he knows he's going to die and he knows he cant stay with Andrew as long as he has to. He is jealous of the amount of time Aaron has had to get to know Andrew and will have to get to know Andrew and he resents the fact that Aaron isnt using any of it. Also Aaron gets Andrew to feel and express emotions (mostly anger when someone threatens his brother) and Neil yearns to see Andrews blank facade crack, especially after the drugs.
I am an Aaron/Neil hostility truther all the fucking way but-
A couple of days, hell maybe monthes, after Aarons kids get born, when they are still babies, Neil and Andrew attend a Minyard family function. Aaron gives one baby to Neil ( who hasnt held them once ) and he tells him "You're their uncle too, you should hold your niece" in a mean way, in a if you run away now, I will kill you. Bc Aaron knows family matters, matters more then whatever label andreil have refused to use. You dont have to get married, you dont have to say "I love you", but you have to hold your goddamnd niece and that is a sort of forever too.
i love the idea of aaron's future child playing exy and being really good at it. like gets offers from colleges level good. there would be a moment where wymack gets to tell aaron good job. bc he can't offer aaron's kid a place at psu. bc aaron's kid doesn't qualify for being a fox. bc aaron broke the cycle.
