The calm serene scenery of the lush green grass and vividly coloured flowers adorning the headstone was certainly an aesthetically pleasing sight to behold but Charles was no stranger to death. He only narrowly escaped it himself through the practice of magic, science, and god knows what other unholy practices he could get his hands on to avoid perishing. How ironic that a murderer such as him should fear death. His eyes glanced towards the young male and while Charles wasn’t usually one for small talk, he found himself growing bored in the silence and decided to approach him. “So sorry for your loss.” he said. “She was awfully young. Life is quite a fragile thing, isn’t it? Here one moment and gone the next.”
Stefan was always caught off guard when someone started to talk with him when he didn’t expect it at all. He blinked, and didn’t even know what to say, life and death was such a complicated and painful thought at the same time. Especially for him, but of course he couldn’t tell him that.
“Well, the big question will always remain, where this gone exactly is. If there’s hell or heaven or if we are reborn, the mystery we will only get an answer to, when we are there too.” He shrugged, not even knowing if he was afraid of that or not.
“What do you think is there?” A weird way to start a conversation, from smalltalk to a real deep topic.
“An excellent question, my dear friend. No one can truly know if there is an afterlife and if there is a god who judges us based on our misdeeds.” He fiddled with his ring, blue eyes glancing down at the golden band. “I personally hope to never be greeted by death. Her arms are far too cold for my liking.” The bald headed man chuckled darkly. What a strange conversation but Charles was no stranger to such topics, whether it be death or things related to it like murder. But he wasn’t about to confess to this stranger all the lives he had taken, no sir. “Personally I do like the concept of reincarnation.”
