Spirit (1885) by George Roux
Do we have hints at Gwyneth Berdara's lineage in the CC series? *narrows eyes* Catrin is EXTREMELY Night Court coded. Even more so after us meeting Vesperus in the crossover. Black hair. Skin like the moon. Come on, folks....I cannot be the only one who sees this. Then in House of Sky and Breath we are introduced to Cormac.
And in Silver Flames when introduced to Gwyn, we get this:
And it isn't like Gwyneth Berdara's character doesn't follows the same pattern as all of SJM's main female characters: Tragic backstory involving the violent death of a loved one. Surviving violence themselves. Losing themselves in their grief. Finding themselves again through work, friendships and love. And if you are a careful reader, which SJM has said she appreciates, you can piece together what she has woven throughout her three series. Cormac is another show of Shadow Magic not solely belonging to fae associated with the looks of the Night Court. He is not black haired, he is not pale as the moon. Tho, Catrin is. He does however descend from the same line which produces Bryce and Ruhn. A line which retains much of their autonomy on Midgard because they are able to hide behind the veil. Perhaps this is what Azriel's own Shadows sense when they are around Gwyn? Not so much that she manipulates Shadows in the same way Azriel or Cormac can, but that she too possesses the very magic associated with those ancient fae who became the Night Court. Some of the very ancient fae who move to Midgard? And, this gives the following a whole new meaning: Smooth as the Sidra, swift as the wind off the Illyrian Mountains. Why would Gwyn, who is introduced with an entire backstory involving the Autumn Court ONLY to be tied to the Night Court with descriptive language such as this? What does the winds off the Illyrian Mountains do? They whisper and sing. What are some of the ways the Sidra is described throughout Silver Flames? glimmering ribbon, glittering Sidra, wind whispering over the Sidra, dancing on the twining band of the Sidra, The Sidra a living band of gold. The Sidra with a rainbow of color.
What does the name Sidra mean and what is it associated with? Seven. Order. Sequence. The Stars. Seven days of prayers. Night Vespers. And, Seventh Heaven. Which is considered the highest happiness in all three Abrahamic Faiths. What does the name Gwyneth mean?
Happy "Is that an Arrow?" Anniversary! Maybe tonight we get a little something something *lifts eyebrow*....
I had thought the Gwyn being a Ginger crash outs were my favorite, but daaaaaammmmmnnnnnn...I have never wanted to speak and read Portuguese more than I do rn.
I talked to Elain today on the phone and she said she doesn't hate Lucien.

Sjm: The characters have like have that spark initially that's almost beyond me.
Elucien in ACOWAR:
Gwynriel in ACOSF:
Elucien's and Gwynriel's:
"It is about her choice!" They scream as they pair her off with a male character who advocates for keeping her locked in a room where his eyes can be the only ones on her.
"But she doesn't love him!" They caterwaul as they confuse lust for affection.
"But she avoids him!" They accuse as they misunderstand the true respect it takes when one who sees what the other needs gives it to them.
"But they are in love!" They demand while the male tells them it is not love he is feeling, at all, but a one time need. With no further plans.

I read Tropesick by Lauren Okie in under 24 hours.
Loved it. Perfect summer beach read.
I refuse to believe in this year of the Lord persons who argue ships on the internet cannot find Bonus Chapters on the same internet. And no, use of folks made up in their heads who either cannot find the BCs or cannot run them through a translator does not win the debate on whether or not they are integral to the overall plot. They are. This is why they are written. However, I do occasionally come across real live people in my bookstore who have not READ them because they do not know about them. I fix this, as one's duty dictates. But the best part of this is that 9 out 10 of these readers already clock Gwyn and Azriel WITHOUT the bonus chapter.
I first saw you like an old ghost story From my family tree that was handed down to me I've known you like a siren song that warns I have been informed you could be the death of me
But patience pounds on the time that I stole You were meant to be mine I draw a duel with the cards of the gods That were played in fated time
I know we'll meet again Maybe tonight Just tell me where and when I know it's never sure Maybe tonight Maybe tonight
The sky whispers in a baritone That the mystery always beats what I am shown Search the dial for what I need to know They don't play those songs on my radio
But patience pounds on the time that I stole You were meant to be mine I draw a duel with the cards of the gods That were played in fated time

One of my amazing friends @_banannikacos suggested this idea based on the @bloomsburypublishing promos and I couldn’t get it out of my head, so here’s a silly little doodle/comic.
Hope you enjoy it! Major thanks to @miseryreads for the concept creation!

Gwyn made it into Official Publisher Merch, folks. Calendars, journals and the like. This is not some group of people signing off on licensing after a presentation of sideline products they are making. This is not how publishing works. Art was chosen by the Author. Quotes were chosen by the Author. Authors don't do this for a side characters, Gwyn is part of the forthcoming books and has been elevated to be included within the main grouping of the Inner Circle as we know it.
Gentle reminder: Humans and book characters come in more than two colors.
10? 💗
It isn't fair. I cannot choose.
BUUUUUT....there is art by elenana.art on the gram which is a Batboy BAND AU. And, there is a Band AU that I cannot remember the name of! But it was so so so good and I am so mad my overworked brain is not giving me the name and writer. someone help me.
