they're philosophical. it's such a shame that not everyone can explain their thoughts properly in a sense that it needs to be explained in words to know exactly what you mean.

if i had known better how the world works then i'd feel validated or understood.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER ✙ ‘MEMORIES : THIRD STORY’ SPOT

To feel productive

I open my study materials to feel productive. When I open my written notes, turn on my laptop and open academic related apps, it makes me feel as though I started something. In reality though, I never started an assignment. I just felt like I started something just because I opened some apps and notes.

I’d feel comforted that a least I started something and would then get distracted, open my browser and go to different websites for self indulgent purposes. It goes on until it’s late and I had to rest. By then I’d tell myself to do my assignments later when I get a good rest.

I ended up passing my assignments late. It made me realize that I’m so burnt out in school that I would try to put myself first on the cost of putting my academic state at risk. I would want to do better but sometimes it just felt like I’m forcing myself to finish things that the results would come out rushed or half-assed.

I’ve seen a lot of people comparing Hiyori’s sandbox scene to Makoto’s sandbox scene and because there are definitely some parallels, I just wanted to talk about the main differences between the two scenes a little.

The most obvious visual difference between the two scenes is that Makoto’s scene is bathed in a warm glow, the colours are warm and soft while in Hiyori’s scene, the colours are much colder, giving the scene a more lonesome feeling. Although these colour-differences are also there because of the time of day (Hiyori’s was clearly during the day while Makoto’s was during sunset) I do think they purposely portrayed their respective scenes this way, with Hiyori’s scene having a much colder colour scheme.

And in Makoto’s scene, the other child, Haru, reaches out to him while in Hiyori’s scene, the other child, “Tomo-chan” walks away from him and leaves him behind.

I think this summarises the main difference between these two scenes; for Makoto, it is a very fond memory of finding his dearest friend and he loves looking back on it because of that. While for Hiyori, it is a painful memory, the confirmation that he had no one because everyone left him alone. He watched how all the other kids are picked up by their parents while his parents left him alone yet again.

Makoto’s sandbox scene ends in friendship, while Hiyori’s sandbox scene ends in loneliness.
