Suck me dry. My blood is bruised and borrowed. You thieving bastards. You have turned my blood cold and bitter, beat my compassion black and blue.
Lost In A Nightmare || Rosemary & Emery
The hurtful words poured into the room, filling the dark void with the verbal hatred her husband so carelessly tossed her way. And it was true, it was all true. Every word he spoke described Rosemaryâs fears, her regrets, every negative view she had of herself was voiced and thrown back in her face. In spite of everything, Emery intimidated her. He was confident, wealthy, powerful, handsome⊠never in her life did she imagine anyone of his kind to even look her way let alone love her. In her mind, Emery was made into an idol. A god she was unworthy to love, yet could not prevent the soft images of the man from drifting through her mind with a delicate emotion she never thought herself to possess.
It was a glint of hope, the promise of happiness in the arms of a man she had deeply cherished more than life itself. And yet she felt herself unworthy of this love. Knowing that she was nothing more than an unwanted child, cast out by her own parents, not a cent to her name, her life amounting to nothing more than a few spells and tinctures that if found would place her back in the accusing flame of the countrymen. She was nothing compared to him. She did not deserve him. It was what stopped her from the very beginning, seeing his greatness and knowing that she could never rise up to be what he deserved.
With every word he spoke came a strangely welcomed understanding. The smallest layer awakening to what was happening, that she was not confronting an unknown enemy hidden in this dark realm but was battling her her own fears. Her mind taking everything she feared most and giving it a voice, lashing out at her until all that remained was a cowardly shell of what she had once been.
Rosemary had once been brave, strong, confident in her choices. She dreamed of travel and adventure, she was playful and not afraid to meet a challenge. But everything changed. The world showed her its darkness, the hate and evil that roamed the lands taking everything from her. Hopes and dream, love and happiness. It was all stripped away, killing the young woman whose life held such promise. Now she felt as though she was nothing. The knight who stole her purity, crushing a pale white lilly under his boot and grinding it into the filth. Gentle petals torn from their stem, left to shrivel and die in the mud. Allowing that man to take something from her that was promised to Emery. The shame and regret as she laid back, softly crying and mourning the little girl whose passion was unrelenting before that moment. Emery was right. She was nothing but a whore.
The woman stood in a daze, allowing the acceptance of his words to soak into her. Trying to cling to the hate and anger that had arisen at the sight of her dead child, rather craving the sting of pain from hatred than the heart wrenching guilt she felt every time she looked into Emeryâs eyes. Feeling worthless and pathetic in his presence as he looked down at her with love. Hating herself for not being able to give him all he needed, all that he deserved.
Seeing him in the arms of this woman, hungrily pressing their lips together as his hands clawed down her sides with lust broke what was left of her heart. After all she had seen and felt, after the hate and sadness he had inspired to grow in her heart, she never expected such a sight to have such a strong reaction. But no matter what she had told herself, no matter how he had demeaned her, seeing her husband tangled in the passions of another brought her such sadness that she could only fall back against the wall. Turning to leave this horrible place but unable to find the door sheâd entered only a moment ago. Green eyes stared back at Emery, blindly witnessing the man wildly tear at this strange womanâs dress as she lusted after him in a drugged state.
âEmeryâŠâ She called out to him, hating herself for how this sight hurt her even after what he had done. She should not care. So what if he fucked some other woman, who cares if he finds love else where, it didnât matter. Nothing mattered. She was done with him. She hated him. But it was all lies. âEmery, stop.â She begged, her voice becoming stronger. âSTOP THIS!!â
There had always been something about getting Rosemary so distraught when they argued or when Emery participated in something too ghastly for words that eluded an erotic a cruel grin to form across his lips. & he pushed feverishly against the now practically bare and glamoured woman in amusement, now, as Rose's broken sounds bounced heavily inside his ears. It was amusing; it had always been. Even before the two had found the comforts, permanently, in each others embraces & even before Rose finally decided to hand her heart to one of the most dangerous creatures in her land...Emery could find no solace unless he had tested his witch to her brink. Perhaps it was a subconscious way of seeing whether or not someone other than Michael could handle being around such an egotistical prat twelve hours out of the day, or perhaps it really was just a disgusting beast looming inside of his skin that, he had faced, hated the fact that Rosemary was even around in the first place. Maybe he'd never know & maybe Rosemary would be stuck trying to figure it all out as she went & far after she woke from this nightmare, but for now...it was Emery's way & it was Emery's time to sink inside his bones & allow the beast to take exactly what he thought was his.
A laugh like that of a child grew from the pit of Emery's stomach & erupted from his lips. It was haunting & muffled against the skin on the woman's neck yet it vibrated against the walls of the closed room in echoes that were chilling & teasing. Emery's hands clasped themselves around the wrists of the woman, untangling her fingers from his messy hair, & slammed them back against the wall by her head. Her neck lolled with misguided lust & her body perched forward to touch the front of his. Annoying, but necessary. & Emery continued to laugh at how Rose was seeming to become tangibly upset & how much power he really did hold upon her head. Was she really that desperate for his love? For his attention? For his honor?Â
It was almost too entertaining.
"Okay, okay!" he caved, pulling himself away from the wall yet dragging her with him still by her wrists. "You always were a demanding little bitch; always thinking that the more you raised your voice to me the more I'd give a fuck, right? When will you realize that I care for nothing, that this is all an act for you, for Michael, for Lark, for Cole, for anyone who wants to see this thing ripped out & crushed like a little ant. The beast will never leave me, Rose. It will always be there, always crouched in a pouncing position just waiting for you to put your guard down & think that you've finally gotten the vampire you've always wanted...the vampire that won't think about how much his life sucks with you, a mortal, in it; how much he misses the whores at the bars & how much he misses doing whatever he wants without having to answer to some lonely, pathetic, weak little witch who he hasn't even been able to fuck in months because she went & got herself knocked up like an idiot by some stupid knight. WEAK!"
He turned the woman to face Rose while gripping her one arm. With the other hand he dug pale fingers into her disheveled hair & yanked it backwards, exposing the milky white flesh of her neck. The veins pulsed & Emery's incisors dropped from his gums; his eyes swirled with darker shades of grey inside of a river of blue, & with his once playful smirk now vanished, it was replaced with that of a glowering stare at the witch standing before them.
"He doesn't love you, & when you die...he'll just find another,"Â
& as Emery pulled on the woman's hair once more, he whispered, "Scream," inside her ear before induldging his fangs profusely into the main artery on her neck.
The loud, painfully tortured sound that emerged from the lips of the woman were not her own. Blood poured from the more than necessary bite that Emery induced against her skin. He ripped at the flesh greedily & sucked the crimson pouring from the opening. Her screams were music to his ears, begging the vampire to dig further inside her muscles & rip anything he came in contact with to shreds. He wanted to chew it & spit it out, watch as it disintegrated into nothing along with the body of the woman who was becoming heavier in his arms.
The woman's screams transformed completely, then. & instead of them being dramatically intense from the bestowed glamour they simply changed into that of Rosemary's. Rose's voice poured from the lips of the dying woman, screaming in pain from the amount of blood that Emery was drinking from her body. & as it happened Emery only pulled the woman against him further, the demonic & rabid urge to drink this woman dry overwhelming any other sense of current cockiness or charm.Â
She continued to grow heavy but Emery held her against his front, nails now indenting the skin on her arms & piercing them as well. Blood dripped down her front to soak the remainder of her dress, stained the skin against her chest & stomach, dripped from the hem to land against her bare toes. Rose's screams diminished from horrid cries to soft whimpers. As if the glamour were slowly wearing off in addition to the life threatening to leave her body, the cries from her lips pierced deep inside of Emery's hallow chest regardless of the animal he was currently being.
He pulled back with an exaggerated sigh; face coated in haphazard patterns of blood against his defined cheeks & ruby lips. The open wound against her neck was gnawed grossly, & the sight of her insides were disturbing & relentless. Still, Emery whispered with a hypnotizing voice,
"You can come out now, Rose,"
& even though the now blacks of his eyes were staring into the irises of his wife in front of him & he spoke directly at her, the nightmare had different plans. The woman leaning almost breathlessly against Emery's face transformed fully into Rosemary McLain, molding herself to fit the delicate features of the witch; from her tangled & long dark hair to the fluttering of mystical eyes that had captivated a once more radical Emery some time ago. She swayed & moaned, whimpered & pleaded,
"Please," the woman said to the vampire, "Please don't kill me. I love you..."
Emery paid her no mind & instead growled at the true Rosemary before him. "This is what you are to him! Nothing more than a snack & an easy fuck! & if you stay with him...if you dare keep that ring on your finger & if you DARE rid him of the royal & more glamerous life that is waiting for him then this will be your fate,"
& without another seconds hesitation...in the blink of an eye...Emery's fist penetrated the woman's back, sinking deep within her flesh to wrap sticky & strong fingers around her fading lifeline. She dropped to the ground with wide eyes from the shock, merciless against Emery's grasps against her arms. & in his outstretched hand for Rosemary to see, he held her still beating heart.
My stomach hurts now, and all tied off in lace I pray, I beg for anything, to hit me in the face and this sicknes isn't me, I pray to fall from grace The last thing I see is feeling And I'm telling you I'm a fake
Just look at me, look at me now I'm a fake//I'm a fake//I'm a fake//I'm a fake
I'm Not A Fake. || Emery
He missed his forge.
Between dragons & a childless wife, between Michael still deciding not to make an appearance around town & with finally, at least, needing to find some mystical & old as hell witch to mix together his potion to rid his beast forever...Emery needed time alone.
He had spent days upon days in the countryside with the werewolf Rebecca, protecting her as she did him & slaying whatever they came across in order to reach their final mission with the dragon. He had put so much faith into her to bring out a dangerous yet controlled side to his specie, & in turn Emery hadn't felt as freed as he did in a very, very long time.Â
But the forge was completed. & there, amongst the hammering of large tools & the sparks that bounced from the metals to burn delicately against his arms, Emery would finally be at peace. & no amount of running in the woods with Rebecca or rocking his hips against his wife would satisfy the feeling of creating something like his father had taught him when he was a mortal boy.
He imagined Michael would never be there to teach him anything ever again; & when it came to the art of creating? Emery knew one day he'd have a progeny of his own...& Michael wouldn't be around for that, either.
& so, with an anxious smirk against his lips Emery lit the fire pit in the center of his new forge. It consisted of two buildings; an obviously larger brick structure set into a square, approximately the exact footage of his own home. It was hollow, with nothing else protruding his view except the roaring fire that burned & warmed his metals in the middle of it all. & against the walls, lined within wall mounts & glass cases, wooden shelving & large barrels was everything that Emery needed to wield anything he desired. From countless blocks of freshly mined metals to leather straps to wrap around the grips; from lock boxes of precious gems & stones to hoisters & tools...it was perfect & breathtaking. It was everything he had ever wanted.
In a way, it saddened the vampire. & as he walked around the large room, brushing fingertips against every single piece of new item in his forge, Emery couldn't help but think about Brailston. The memories were overwhelming; everything about his home in Brailston consisted of remnants of his family, both old & new. To imagine the forge now as it is, destroyed & useless, sent waves of noticeable guilt throughout Emery's otherwise cold soul.
He had always been sentimental like that.
Finally, stopping to gaze down at the weapon laying against the surface of his workbench; a sold piece of metal the size of a large picnic table, Emery laced pale fingers against the grip of his first forged sword. It had always been a fine piece of work...the best sword he had ever wielded in fact. Placing the sword in the chests before the raids proved to be a wise idea, & he was thankful to have the weapon within his grasp once more.Â
He grinned, admiring the freshly polished metal as if he were looking upon it for the first time, & even ran his index finger against the sharper edge causing the smallest trail of blood to drip down into his palm. Stepping away from the bench the boy went at it; fighting against the air like a knight of the king, with technique fit for any simple man to learn yet distinct enough for only the speed of a supernatural like himself. It was an easy distraction; something that allowed him to detach from his senses if just for a few moments & feel the strength of his own body moving against the air in rhythmic motions. He closed his mind to rid them of annoying thoughts & allowed the flames from the fire guide him against the darkened room. He thought of Rosemary & how, deep down, she was devastated & there was nothing that Emery could do about it. It pained him to not be able to help her, to give her something in replace for the child she no longer held so she would smile again. He swore that Rose's smile would be the eternal death of him one day, & Emery was very comfortable with that.
With every make-believe slice into a body & imagining it as every single person in Athoria that has ever wronged him, & with every frustrating grunt escaping his throat, Emery lost his mind. The sword flew from his hands with an agitated yet primeval roar as his fangs dropped from their place in his upper gums & his senses became heightened on alert. He wasn't angry & for once in his life Emery was not jealous nor confused. The adrenaline pumping through dead veins was strictly that of pure instinct & control. It was nasty yet delicious at the same time; something Emery craved as a vampire even more than he craved the taste of human blood. He wanted to run against the walls & jumped from building to building carelessly. He wanted to rip the throats out of every villager that walked by him innocently & throw their vocal cords at the King's face. He wanted to shove Rosemary violently up against a wall, tear her dress to shreds & have his way with her until her voice was hoarse from screaming his name & her body convulsed with undying pleasure..
It was his instinct of being a vampire, of being a hunter by nature & a killer by popular choice; of fancying the most glamorous possessions in life because of his ego & demanding that he be entitled to such vanities. His race, his specie, his kin, were what Athoria feared; more than the wolves that trampled the lower lakes & espeically more than any disgusting phantom.
Emery ran. He ran from his forge & into the woods. He sprinted so incredibly fast that his body collided with trees & low branches, that he tripped haphazardly over rocks that he'd otherwise be able to avoid but tonight he could not. & he didn't care. The freedom of enjoying his specie was enlightening & the boy ran as though it were the first time he  were experiencing his supernatural abilities. For all he cared, the beast could stay locked away forever if it meant that Emery would forever feel like this.
& it was then, for the first time since meeting Chandra & returning from England, amongst the thick & heavy trees of Hallowed Oak as Emery's boots imprinted the earth beneath his feet, that Emery Frost knew that life after Jeremiah would be just fine. That so long as the beast was ridden from his body, then Emery would be the prince his lineage had always wanted him to be.
Lost In A Nightmare
Lost In A Nightmare || Rosemary & Emery
Closing her eyes, she listened to the steady dripping sounding in the distance, wondering if it had simply been her imagination as upon first inspection there had been nothing there. She covered her ears with the palms of her hands, trying to escape the seemingly innocent tapping noise but to avail. Despite her insulation the dreaded sound pierced its way through, becoming louder, closer, more frightening until this simple sound became all that she could hear. Opening her eyes she found that she was no longer alone in this barren white hall. A smile immediately found her lips with a soft sigh of relief as she recognized the other presence to be her husband.Â
âEmery, you found me. Iâm so lost.âÂ
For a brief moment she felt that all would be well. Somehow Emery had found his way into this nightmare and was going to save her as he always did, but just as the woman began to walk toward him his cruel words found her. Rosemary stopped in her tracks, gazing up to the vampire with a look of confusion, wondering if perhaps she had misheard him. But as she gazed into those deep blue eyes the sweet smile turned into a look of horror. Behind the familiar blue was not the man she had fallen in love with. It was a monster. Emeryâs monster. Fear took over, pulling her back a few steps in a sad attempt to protect herself from the evil that possessed the body of her lover.Â
âYouâre not Emery⊠are youâŠâ She asked in a hushed tone, already knowing the answer.
The woman subconsciously wrapped her arms around her waist as her green eyes plead with the man, wanting to see the love Emery held for her but, try as she may, she could only find the darkness that invaded his mind. This was not her husband. This was evil. Following his voice, Rosemary let her eyes wander over to something gripped in the vampireâs hand, watching deep red blood rolling over tiny limbs to drip onto the ground with a splash. All she could do was stare, unable to understand what it was that she was looking at until it hit her.Â
Her grip tightened around her waist, the feeling that something had been missing growing stronger than ever. Something had been taken, stolen from her. Her child. Roseâs mouth fell open at the sight, a helpless whimper calling out to a child who would never breathe life into its lungs, whose innocent eyes would never look up into hers and see its mother. Tears spotted her eyes as she fought to look away but was unable, she was paralyzed. Forced to stand and watch with unblinking eyes as an image of her husband violently shook the mangled corpse of her child. A shaking hand covered her parted lips, the wretched smell wrapping its vile hand around her throat and squeezing like a noose. She coughed slightly, wanting to expel the horrid scent but could only focus on the lifeless body hanging from Emeryâs grasp.Â
Rosemary finally found the strength and tore her gaze away from her murdered infant, looking into the eyes of this monster, âWhyâŠâ
His cold words inspired hatred in her once gentle heart. Frightened green eyes turning to a vengeful stare as Emery berated her, shouting abuse and insulting her very being. The heartless words tearing her down in the voice of someone she had loved unconditionally. She shook her head in defiance, wanting to show him that his words meant nothing but the more he spoke the less able she was to hide the impossible hurt. This man had taken the life of her child; something so precious and pure yet he stripped it away as though it was nothing, taunting her with itâs dead body.
âNo! Youâre wrong!!â She screamed out, the pain she felt escaping into her voice.
He was wrong. He had to be. This wasnât Emery. Emery would never say such horrible things to her, he could never kill her or her child. It wasnât real. It couldnât be. His voice became thick with hatred, his eyes showing how disgusted and shamed he was by her until she wanted to scream. Her fists tightened around her stomach, backing up in fear as he became more and more enraged until the whole room shook with his violent anger. Rosemary screamed out in fear, closing her eyes and falling down to her knees with her arms up to protect her face from an attack that did not come.
She sat still for a moment, listening carefully to the intense silence that poured into the empty hall once more, until the woman found the courage to lift her head. He was gone. Leaving behind only her lifeless child sprawled out in a puddle of its own blood. With her body trembling, the woman crawled over to the mutilated infant, sitting on her knees at its side. It was so small, tiny fingers curled into fists and its mouth open slightly, blood dripping from the corners of its lips. Rosemary held out her hand, brushing her fingers over the childâs head and looking down to the closed eyes of her baby knowing that she would never see the life that her body once protected.
âNo⊠no please⊠pleaseâŠâ The reality of the situation swept over her all at once; her breath became erratic, heart slamming in her chest, as she wept for the lost life. âIâm sorry⊠Iâm so sorry, my childâŠâ Her chest became tight, desperately gasping for short breaths as the world seemed to close in around her. The horrific smell invaded her nose and throat, knocking her back as she gagged for fresh air. Having to cover her nose with her arm, the grieving mother looked away from the decaying body of her baby, fighting the urge to vomit. The panic gradually began to subside, her desperate breaths relaxing and her shoulders dropping as the crippling anxiety slowly left her. Rosemary looked back to her child to find that it, just like Emery, had vanished. Leaving behind no sign that it had even been there, even the smell had gone. The only assurance that she had of any of the events having occurred being the burning sensation of that stench in the back of her throat.
The shaken woman fell back against the wall, wrapping her arms around her legs and sobbing against her knees. She sat for what felt like an eternity, the hatred and grief slowly passing and leaving the woman blank with shock. Sheâd lost all sense of time and place, no longer concerned with her goal and unable to cope with the image of Emery, her husband, desecrating the corpse of her murdered child. Killed by his own hand. The thought alone sparked her hatred once more. Remembering each vile name he had called her, seeing her as nothing more than a worthless whore. The woman snarled, vowing to see the man dead for what he had done. Feeding into her own dark side and envisioning taking the vampire and slaughtering him as he had to her own. The love and honour she once held for the man stripped away and only able to see the monster within.Â
A sharp cry rang out from the far end of the corridor jolting Rosemary out of her trance and beckoning her down the hall to find the source of the scream. Unable to resist her new found curiosity, the woman stood, slowly trudging her way down the white hall and turning the corner. As she walked the hall seemed to grow, with every step it felt as though another step was added. She blinked the traumatized look from her eyes, focusing instead on her footfalls which echoed down the never ending hall, every passing minute her surroundings growing darker and darker until she was walking through pitch blackness. The woman reached out her hands in front of her finding the walls to have disappeared leaving her stranded in a dark abyss. She walked blindly through the dark until she found a dim light peeking through a door and ran for it upon hearing another cry, the voice of a woman. Approaching the door she pressed her hand against the splintering wood, widening the crack and cautiously stepping into a room.
Emery had always liked his woman whorishly dashing.
There were too many nights to count when a young, cocky, & breathtakingly handsome Emery Frost would easily sweep a slightly tipsy woman off of her feet. The bars in Brailston proved to be full of snotty rich-folk that came to the city capital from Monir, & some even behind the castle walls. With a change in scenery from the more sophisticated lifestyle that those places held, Emery found that most woman of higher class just wanted a fun night away from their fiances or wealthy fathers. & they crowded into the bars dressed in clothing that they thought were of a more middle-class level & perhaps to the untrained eye they could pass for such. But to the lustful & egotistical eyes of Emery, they were simply easy bait.
He'd watch from the corner of his most common bars, where the barkeep knew of Emery's specie & if the mortal played his part right by feeding the clueless groups of females "free" drinks, then he'd end up with a handful of coin for himself. Brailston was always full of the most talented criminals, masked behind a large, eager smile & ready to serve the wealthy at their command.Â
It was all just a big game, really. But the women never knew that; not until they were begging for their lives while naked in Emery's bed.
Emery's hand went to her a throat & slammed the woman back against a wall. She cried out; loud & annoying sounds that made the insides of Emery's attitude cringe. He wanted to snap her neck right then & there. He fought with the urge to toss her ugly corpse aside & let Rosemary witness him killing yet another being as innocent as her now mutilated child.Â
"Shut up," he hissed, fingers elongating against the tendons under her skin, bruising them a disgusting shade of purple, & nails digging into her flesh. "If you behave, I'll let you go,"
"Really?" the gullible woman spoke, as her own pale & delicate hands wrapped along Emery's wrist & forearm. Her eyes were large & pleading; the tops of her breasts were practically popping out from the thin layer of cloth against her chest, & her painted set of lips quivered in a fear that she unfortunately would never remember.
"Of course,"Â
Rosemary's smell flowed through the slightly opened door & Emery grinned sadistically down at the trapped female. "Show time,"
With a final shove into the wall by her neck, Emery stepped back from the confused & damaged woman to turn his attention to his wife. The grin never left his lips; once exciting blue & mesmerizing eyes holding a darkness that Emery hardly ever could escape. & as Rose stepped into the room, Emery put his arms in the air off to his side & dipped into a small, mocking bow.
"I hope you enjoy the performance, whore. I'm excited to hear the crushing of your pitiful heart against my ears. After all, deep down you know that you aren't possibly worthy to have the respect & love from someone like me. Someone who is wealthy & smart, toned & probably the most attractive man in Athoria," he laughed menacingly, "The truth is; I do take pity on you & always have! You were nothing but a poor bitch who didn't get her dress ripped off as often as you desired. You're easy, Rose. Just like every other broad in this fucking country. You are no different than them, do you hear me!? Nothing more than a whore with a mommy & daddy who never loved you. You want a piece of me? Then get in line!"
Emery's eyes locked with those of the woman against the wall. He easily searched inside of her confusion, digging for something lustful to latch onto & laughed again when it was all too easy to find. His glamour worked like a charm, seeping inside of the woman's soul & taking control of her mind. Within seconds, her face was admirably soft & appeared technically drunk. Her body went limp against the wall, small hands grabbing onto the bricks to hold herself up.Â
"Just how I like it,"
Without another seconds hesitation, Emery threw himself against the woman & sunk his lips hungrily into hers.
You're a crazy bitch But you fuck so good I'm on top of it ;D
Rebecca & Emery || On Top Of The World
Oh, how Gaia was being cruel to her child this night.
Chestnut eyes blinked rapidly, and the grip against her lowered bow became increased once more. In a way she was infuriated that this nightwalker, this vermin, would ask for her assistance in such a manner that seemed overly casual and nonchalant. Whether or not Rebecca was curious about the elder dragon he sought her instinct would not allow her body to accompany this Emery of Night Haven. And the whites of her fur stuck straight up as Rebecca raised her chin in pride.
âHow dare you request such a thing to me,â she spoke through a half amused and semi grin, through slightly gritted teeth that were sharp against the insides of her mouth. âI would easily sacrifice myself to the mother of this earth before I was caught wandering the countryside with a creature like you,â
What would Elki think? After all the years of training with her Alpha, after the attack with Michael on their own grounds in Trinity LakesâŠhad she not learned? Rebecca raised her bow once again and dropped large incisors from her gums, her grin becoming more feral as her ego enjoyed the way her fangs were decently more prominent than his own.
Regardless if Emery were encompassing her night-visions or not, the thought of assisting the very specie that had taken so much away from not only her but from Elki as well was overwhelming. Never again would she let a vampire take advantage of her weakness.
âWhy do you ask for help anywayâŠyou are a disgustingly sophisticated specie and I should be laughing at your strained attempt at friendship. Whatever it is that you need you will have to seek on your own accords,â
She needed to turn back, to get away from Emery and the nonexistent beat of his heart that made Rebeccaâs skin crawl with agitation. She missed Casperâs arms across her shoulders and her home, and the smell of the small scented candles she had recently bought from Monir. She wanted to curl into her bed and sleep without the dreams, without the constant nagging of the spirits she worshipped that screamed to her to help this boy.
It was turmoil; an inner struggle between what she thought was right and what actually was. Her palms began to sweat upon gazing into the mystical and vampyric eyes of Emery Frost, standing before her and still nonchalant as ever.Â
âI donât know what to do, please leave me,â
"Make up your mind, woman,"
This creature of nature still did not fail to amuse the creature of night, & Emery playfully rolled his eyes as his hands met the sides of his hips. He shook his head, black strands falling out of place from his wild hair to brush against pale cheeks & Emery emitted a small, docile chuckle from deep within his throat.Â
No, the raising of Rebecca's bow once again was not the comfort he had wished for considering his proposal of travel & given information about the other species he shared his life with. Perhaps in another circumstance it would infuriate him to not be trusted when he, himself, was showing no obvious threat. Regardless of her past troubles with a vampire such as himself, he wondered why this girl was indecisive about her actions.
The beast, however, within him clawed at the undersides of his skin, teasing Emery with the thick taste of wolven blood & how it always seemed to satisfy him no matter his desire. He swore the blood that ran heavy through werewolf veins could be a substitute for human crimson, & as Rebecca's pounding of an unsteady heartbeat fluttered through Emery's enhanced hearing, he shifted slightly in attempt to hide that constant nagging of the urge to feed from his stature.
After all, he still wanted her company; still yearned for the connection of someone else after the desperations he had faced throughout this year. & with the added protection from her bow in addition to her canine senses, Emery might stand a chance against this dragon.
"Look," Emery said next, "I'm not going to hurt you. If you want to go then go; if you want me to go, then I'll go. Fine. Whatever. The thing is, I have a knack for lying, or confusion, or knowing that someone is feeling something fucked up in general, know what I mean?"Â
He dropped his grin, his own cheekbones becoming defined as the conversation shifted to that of a seriousness. He knew that Rebecca was still blindly stricken by the ways of her people, & Emery was in no mood to test that subject. However, with Rebecca still threatening him with the pointed end of an arrowhead & incisors that, with one well aimed attacked, could rip off the boys head, Emery had to try.
"So I get it. You don't trust me. I dont know why & I don't care why. But once upon a time I knew an Alpha from a tribe out east that took care of me a couple decades back. He showed me mercy when I treaded on his land. I was young & without a maker, & he taught me things about my senses that I hadn't known. We became allies, regardless of my specie & what I had done thus far in my life. He's someone I could go to no matter what the situation or how long it had been since I last saw him, & for that I am grateful for your race,"
Emery hadn't thought of Vargulf or Elki in a long time, & even at the mention of his story he noticed Rebecca's face drop slightly, as the muscles against her animalistic jaw loosened from strain.
"All I'm saying is sometimes your instinct is wrong. Your fortunate to have a heart to follow, Rebecca, so follow it,"
Cheesy song for the love of my life.
(but its a cover from Boyce Avenue I mean COMEON)
I'll scratch at the surface, dig my nails into something that I thought had disappeared. Without the worry of damaging the disgusting void underneath, the burdon of finding out a new truth tramples against weak shoulders. I'll simply keep digging.
Rebecca & Emery || On Top Of The World
Rebeccaâs eyes grew at the mention of the dragon, phasing back to their normal humaned form color of deep chestnut. She hadnât seen such a beast herself, ever, even when she lived overseas and before her adventure to Athoria seventy years prior when she had been turned. Vargulf consumed the Trinity Lakes, in the eastern hemisphere of the extremely large island, and these mystical creatures were only known to graze the countryside. Of course, dragons were a bit of a myth to Rebecca; she wasnât even sure if she believed in such a being, and she felt that unless she saw one with her own eyes than such things did not exist.
It seemed a little hypocritical.Â
âThe elder dragon?â her voice escaped as a loud whisper, arrowhead lowering only slightly against her bow and curiosity raising within a naturally interested wolf. Her own beast stirred within her chest, disapproving once again at the mercy she was debating on showing this vampire given his task. But what if he were lying? Michael had lied to her; she had given him the opportunity to prove against his hatred for her species yet he had failed, and the result was the incisions he imploded against her fragile neck. This boy was a leech, an enemyâŠbut she was curious nonetheless.
Staying in her half formed wolf, Rebecca cautiously lowered the arrow the rest of the way, keeping it lodged against her bow yet now pointing it at the ground in front of her feet. âWhy are you seeking out this mythical beast? They are only petty rumors; stories that are simply told by the elves of Athoria to scare the little ones. Never have I laid eyes on one, and I assume neither have you. So please, tell meâŠwhat is it that you are really seeking?â
Rebeccaâs intuition was one to be favored and never questioned for the most part, even if she had made a few mistakes in her life her guard was always on point. Her mind was brilliant and logical, and even as she stood before this vampire she said silent prayers to Gaia for some sort of guidance in conversation.
She also prayed that he would not attack; at least not yet.
âMy name is Rebecca Anske. And no, my pack is not out west here, rather east in Trinity Lakes. My reasons for being here are my own and I ask that you do not pry. You are my sworn and natural enemy so surely you understand my hesitation with your presence,â
The lowering of her bow was comforting.
Emery, although quite possible the most sarcastic & prideful young vampire in Athoria, was not a threat to most other species & preferred to keep it that way. He knew that Michael, the maker that had abandoned him once again, was against the werewolf race yet Emery did not care about the differences between a set of fangs versus deadly claws like the ones that protruded from Rebeccaâs hands. In the end, whether human or beast, Athoria was still his home & forever would be. Emery was taught to be accepting from a mortal family that had been long passed, & even just thinking about the tragedy that had bestowed upon his parents left a strong distaste in the insides of his mouth.
She was smart, obviously delicate in her own special way & Emery admired that about her. & as she spoke the vampire watched her eyes, witnessed as they returned to a radiate shade of brown that deeply, deeply reminded him of Wisteria. It was sentimental in a way, & while Rebecca debated something inside of her mind he took time to notice the honesty that slithered through her words like silk. She was remarkably genuine, with a wondrous scent of nature that mashed perfectly together with her wolven aroma. Her blood was thick underneath of olive skin yet pumped through her veins steadily, as if she were calm about the situation she had been placed into.Â
It was intriguing & Emery stood with a half smirk still pressed against his lips.
âNatural enemies you say? Well, Ms. Anske, I donât know about you, but I raised myself, trained myself, took care of myself & made no such enemy along the way after I was turned. Your species has always been kind to me, in fact, & even many of my accomplices were of your race. Donât be so quick to judge; I can tell your instinct is clouded,â
Emery reached into the bag once again, with Rebeccaâs means of attack not a threat anymore he felt it safe to move openly in her presence. He kept his grin, as to not scare her anymore than he apparently already had, & pulled out his tobacco.Â
âIâm Emery. Emery Frost,â he said to her, lighting the end of his smoke & puffing large rings into the air above his head. âI live in Night Haven with my wife Rosemary. Sheâs a witch, if that helps you trust me, & an angel named Lark. I sort of adopted him I guess, but heâs old enough to do as he wishes,â
It felt strange to say it, actually, that Emery had been looking after Lark for the better part of a year now & had never called him his son. It was the most dysfunctional family in Athoria; with a vampire at the head of house & a witch to prepare the meals, an angel to run around causing havoc & a little green turtle to have as a pet. There were many things in the Frost residence that reflected that of happiness, of laughter & courtesy & friendshipâŠ& cries. & horrors. & screams. & the stench of alcohol & the booming thunderous voice of Emery that bounced off of the walls like a stormâŠ
Emeryâs eyes flickered at the thought, & his attempted motion of keeping his face free from any other emotion than that of entertainment & interest in Rebecca was slowly fading.
â& yes, the elder dragon is my agenda for being in the countryside. I need to find it, take something from it, & get the fuck out of here before it enjoys the smell of my flesh burning against his flame,â another drag, & Emeryâs head tilted slightly to the side as his dark blue eyes rested into Rebeccaâs. âYouâre pretty good with that bow, I assume? It might be against your traditions & such, but I could use some company; especially someone who is as in tune with the land as you. What do you say?â
Rebecca & Emery || On Top Of The World
He was kind. It was infuriating. And as Rebecca locked eyes with the boy that had been unallowably appearing in her dreams the past days she could only scold her own mother under breath for presenting her with the enemy.Â
She was supposed to attack; supposed to send that arrow straight through the dead and unbeating heart of this vampire, send him away to a purgatory of his own making without rest or closure on his forsaken soul. She was supposed to hear Elkiâs words in the back of her head and listen without question, not anymore at least, because vampires were evil and vampires were the very reason that Rebeccaâs hatred for most other species had taken an immense turn in the principals she had laid down for herself. Her own kind ways seemed long gone, disappeared after the attack from the hunters in Brailston and with Michaelâs fangs digging their way undelightfully inside of her neck. They had disappeared when Elki revealed that he had loved one once, that he had been placed under her lustful and magical spell of glamour some thousand years prior and lost everything because of that monster.
âYou should feel threatened. Whether or not we both make it out alive is of no concern to me. I am a valiant warrior and an even stronger opponent that you could only imagine. If you are fooled by my size or by my gender then you are an even stupider creature than I originally presumed you to be,âÂ
The arrow remained steady and Rebeccaâs voice in her half transformation was deeper than usual, with a faint growl that emitted naturally at the lower octaves of her speech. With heightened senses she noted the unmoving nature of his features; they seemed completely calm without having detection from a heart that would never beat again, and Rebecca kept her own pulse steady under warming skin. He was so fragile looking, as if the tiniest poke against his flesh would break the paleness into thousands of pieces at his feet, and his attire was extremely casual for being out in the wilderness. Of course, being a vampire his temperature was unaffected by the coldness of Athoria during the winter yet still he seemed adapted. It was a concern, and Rebecca held her stance strong and prominent.
Why had mother earth lead her to this boy? She knew there had to be a connection, and her instinct told the fighter that their meeting was not to end in bloodshed. It was a discerning thought.
âWho are you? What are you doing out here? Vampires do not travel out westâŠdonât you miss your pretty little towns with your lovely meals? You wonât find anything worth munching on out here. How about you move along and pray to your moon that we do not cross paths once again,â
Emery found it amusing. The women in Athoria were so keen on sticking up for themselves, to make their own decisions when it came to the outcomes of situations & to attempt to put their dominating companion in their âplaceâ. He had met plenty of females similar to that of this wolf, before him & Rosemary had ever even met & before he was spoken to like a child by Wisteria most nights when they were together. It never ended well; never had Emery succumbed to the nature of women & their own stubbornness to have the upperhand. If Rosemary were angry heâd let her leave, & yes perhaps apologize later but the moment was his to control. It had always been like that, even in the taverns with the helpless whores of Leeds that willingly gave themselves to this creature of the night after throwing a fit when he appeared uninterested.Â
Women were their own special specie, & it made Emeryâs smirk of attempted neutrality twist to that of his sadistic monster that rested just below the surface of his broken soul.
âIâm not going anywhere,â he stated firmly, the relaxed form of his body tensing to that of primitive attack mode. He contemplated taking a stroll through her memory lane before that arrow made any sort of contact against his flesh; something that Emery undoubtedly figured she would not hesitate to do if he made any sudden movements. He was fast, & he assumed she was as well, but how he wished to not kill something for the likelihood that she was not dangerous to begin with. He had to be sure.
He had changed like that, apparently.
âDo yourself a favor & stop threatening me,â he scowled, his patience beginning to wear thin from this creature trying to have the upperhand in this conversation. âI am as fearful of you as I am to a small rock, or a blade of grass, or perhaps even that arrow you have aimed at the hollow behind my chest where a heart used to reside. Shoot me if you must; but know that when I survive, which I will, Iâll be dumping your body in the most grotesque way imaginable for all of your ungrateful pack members to view. & trust me, my imagination can run wild at times. Just one peak through that pretty little head of yours & I guarantee you that I could make your Alpha mourning with more distraught then he had ever felt before in his life,â
The flicker against neon green eyes was that of hesitation, & Emeryâs grin grew. He did not wish to break any sort of peace with whatever connection he had towards the wolven race yet being threatened by this stupid girl was enough to drive the boy to act irrationally. Even with his beast crawling inches beneath his surface, Emery did not enjoy the company of one full of distrust.Â
âSo what do you say you lower your silly weapon & we talk about this like civilized beings? I have no hatred towards your kind & I am here for my own personal adventures, to seek out the elder dragon to be exact. If you wish to keep the peace then perhaps you are the one who should walk away, miss,â
Rebecca & Emery || On Top Of The World
Rebecca wondered what in the world Aharnuz had been planning for the young wolf, her child, a creature of nature and respect. She was fast on her feet so and even quicker with her words whether they be of threats or comfort. And when Alaths started to appear in Rebeccaâs dreams the night after Michael had attacked her on her own territory, she could only cower at their demand and gather as much knowledge as she could from a world beyond her own physical one. In a way they had made her feel weaker, knowing such mystical beings that could not even enter her own world were in control of such power, and how they fumbled their way through her made up adventures while slumbering to hopefully show Rebecca some sort of sign of their bidding. She had heard of such happenings occurring before when reflecting back on stories that Elki or Claudia had shared with them from their vast amounts of years wandering Athoria, yet they tended to end in danger or dismay. The wolf turned into more of a monster than they already were.
She was not prone on that idea hence her decision to not explicit such concerns on her elder. Rebecca knew that she would figure it out on her own without having to face a potential sacrifice to Gaia.
Even thinking about the boy consumed in her dreams made her skin stand up. Seeing the set of radiant dark eyes that screamed for forgiveness and assistance, the blood that dribbled down his pale face to drip off of his noted cheekbones, the palpable monstrous energy that electrified his soul noticeably and poured from his insides with deathly screams of terror and fearâŠ
This boy played host to Rebeccaâs unconscious to display vivid entities of action deep within her own kind soul. Aharnuz had plans for her, yet Rebecca was left in utter darkness as to how she were to help this boy.
And it was then that the unforunate familiar scent of a muth luzuk encompassed the most keenly sensed being of her tribe and flashed a taunting memory of Michael through her mind. She had been so weak against his attack and still remembered the flustering pain of his fangs sinking deep within her neck. Her bow was extracted quickly along with a matching arrow and Rebecca inhaled, the stench of the leech tingling at her senses in the most disturbing way. It was close and Rebecca felt her stubborn anger start to plumate into a desperate desire to tear this creature apart, for a revenge that it would have no idea it was facing and Rebecca seemed okay with that. Elki had taught her to eliminate these disgusting creatures and even miles and miles from home she would not fail him.
Pinpointing his location easily Rebecca ran forward, feet swiftly lifting from the ground and over the small rocks in her path. Her ears elongated to that of her wolf as well as the snout of her nose. Chestnut brown eyes brightened to neon green, enhancing her eyesight dramatically and the claws against her knuckles extracted as Rebecca phased midrun into nearly half of her dominate wolf. Her breath began to increase rapidly against her chest, and when the girl reached the edge of a small cliff she easily jumped from it, landing diligently on two feet in front of a man by a cave, bow and arrow pointed directly at his chest.
âYou might be fast but I match your speed, I can promise you that. Take one step and this night will be your last, you Meninna,â
Seconds, literal seconds, it had seemed passed & Emery Frost was standing at full height in front of a half formed werewolf that had appeared out of no where, he presumed. From sensing the distinct & interesting smell of her being to suddenly seeing the creature threatening Emery right before him made the cockiness of his vampyric tendencies turn his lips into the almost seductive grin that Emery was known for. Sprouts of white hair protruded graciously from her knuckles & continued up her wrists, & the set of unnatural green & glowing eyes that were squinted to mere slits against a young face were almost hypnotic.
Werewolves had always been something Emery found fascinating.
âWhoa now,â he said to her, hands lifting in the air as the vampire kept his own set of hunting eyes locked onto the being before him. Emery was not one to take orders from anyone in general & the situation deeply reminded him of the night of the raids where that bastard had imploded his chest with a wooden stake. Luckily for Emery this woman was unguarded & aloneâŠyet the thought of that arrow exploding through his body was nothing to be excited about, & nothing to accept.
âIâm not going to hurt you unless you decide if that arrow would look dashing on me, & if I have any say in it I donât think that it willâŠbrown wood & stone arenât exactly my color,â
Emeryâs eyes were reassuring; he was being honest & would never hurt anyone or anything again in his life unless it was deserving or if he were simply hungry. Perhaps he used to live that way but no, not anymore. Emery had a wife that depended on him & an angel roaming the country as if he were an adult. He had a maker who, sooner or later, would need to know that his boy was okay & a queen that favored him more than her own clan members. Emeryâs orginial methods of simply attacking first & asking questions later werenât exactly an option any longer.
& with the soft growl that emitted from this wolfâs throat as the arrowhead rested comfortably against her bow, unshaken & direct, Emery was in no position to say much otherwise.
âIf I am on your land then I apologize. I was not aware of your tribes roaming out this far west. But so long as you are pointing that thing at me I feel increasingly threatened, & whether or not I am faster than you wonât matter if you choose to attack for no reason. I cannot promise that we will both make it out alive, mâlady,â
Rebecca & Emery || On Top Of The World
Rebecca was fearless in most aspect of her life. Her fear was replaced with either prayer to Gaia or meditation for the strength to overcome her shortcomings. A reflection of herself was generally the outcome of any difficulties she were to face, to see the faults that occurred in her life or own being to cause the distress that, at times, radiated throughout her thick skin and haunted her mind with taunts of unworthiness. Rebeccaâs connection to her mother was essential in order to complete given tasks from Elki to protect Vargulf and, most importantly, to ensue her own safety and steadfast abilities when it came to living her own life.
As she traveled west, Rebecca soaked in the glorious sunshine that hardly seemed to give off any amount of heat in the winter days, yet still stung at her eyes and caused the chestnut irises to squint slightly as she walked. She had dressed heavily, her attire mostly consisting of deerskin around her legs and torso, and the furs of small creatures having been blessed in order for their assets to become one of her own. It was chilly and normally Rebecca, during the winter, stayed close to Trinity Lakes and home. However, her quest out to the countryside was inevitable. Her dreams had made that quite clear.
The warrior did not lie to her elder when stating her reasoning for traveling west but could not be as honest as she wished, for her destiny in the countryside was beyond her own knowledge. Elki always understood yet expressed concern, as usual, and Rebecca could only further pray for her safety and guidance as she made her journey towards something, or someone, she wasnât even sure existed.
It took almost a full day to pass through the cities of Athoria, stopping only to rest her feet and replenish on water, and finally see the outlines of the mountains lining the western proximity of Athoriaâs island. It was all too surreal and calming at the same time, and as Rebecca stood on a hill overlooking the peaks and valleys and watching as the sun starting to reflect wonderful colors of pinks and faded yellows across the terrain, she smiled. It felt like home and peace, and the most settling feeling encompassed a wolven body, as if Rebecca were exactly where she was supposed to be.Â
She left the hill and started for the trees. With the night mere minutes away, a fire and a nice slumber would do her long trip justice.
Emeryâs state of mind was seeming to fade more tangibly every day that he was not exploiting the proclaimed adventure that Chandra had so graciously praised him with while in England with Michael. He hadnât planned on delaying the travels as long as he did yet his life was beginning to experience the same flow of events that presented themselves to the young vampire without much notice. It had been like that all year, actually, since meeting Michael & finding out what part he actually played in his life to marrying his witch & attempting to live a domestic life with her. Everyday was something different, usually tragic, & it only made Emery miss the carefree life he used to live before his maker had ever even made an appearance into his immortal life. Simple, calmâŠwithout drama or the worrisome eye of his woman watching his every move since coming home from the fighting for Collette in a royal battle against a rival clan member. Such craziness had never existed in the past. Emeryâs world had been flipped around too many times for him to continue to accept. Would this be his life from now on? With constantly changing his surroundings & having to adapt to a lifestyle that just did not suit himâŠa life without Rosemary, & a life without the beast.
The beast; it was the very thing that drove Emery to leave his home in Night Haven yet again, & so soon, after having returned from England & being away from Rose for some time. He wasnât thrilled about leaving her to fend for her paining self once more yet there werenât many options left. After seeing what he saw, feeling what he felt, & killing who he killed during the fights in the Draugr stadium, Emeryâs mind was in a deep & desperate threat of going insane. He wished it hadnât gotten as bad as it did, to see full hallucinations of another being, Jeremiah, that haunted his very comatose slumber & to experience things physically & emotionally that were not realâŠbut it had. & Emery knew that the hunt for the elder dragon must happen now.
Emeryâs research had lead him to the countryside of Athoria, a place where he had not traveled often to, if barely, in the past. His basic knowledge of Athoria in general was expanding & he was glad to know that a handful of elves were sometimes seen roaming the mountains. Emery, besides an obvious sarcastic & overbearing attitude, was a kind creature to those gifted as he, & he hoped to come across one perhaps. He would need all the assistance he could be offered.
As night approached & the suns rays diligently dispersed from a blue sky to turn into the deep & mysterious hues of black & grey, Emery emerged from a nearby cave & fumbled with a bag he had brought along for his journey. His expectation for finding a lone human wandering around the mountains were grave & so he had packed a handful of viles of blood to keep his strength potent. Rosemary, the ever concerned & loyal wife that she was, even consumed in his own physical pain & struggle, had graced the boy with two sets of clean clothing & an extra small dagger.Â
Emery grinned, the smell of a fresh rosemary herb emitting from his opened knapsack & encompassing a sensitive nose to fill him with memories of his sentimental wife. She hadnât been thrilled for him to leave, but Emery could only escape with hopeful words that, âthings will be better, I promise,â
& even though the sun had literally just set & Emery was still groggy from his sleep, his head snapped upwards from gazing down into the bag as his heightened senses twitched in recognition of another.
