Bluestreak: I'm going to shoot him.
Prowl: ...
Smokescreen: Shoot who?
Prowl: ...
Bluestreak: Take a guess.
Smokescreen: I don't know? Who are you mad at?
Prowl: Megatron...
Smokescreen: Ah... yeah that... Blue!
Prowl: Good luck.
Smokescreen: Prowl, help me stop Bluestreak from doing something stupid!
Smokescreen: ...
Bluestreak: ... You got banned because you were winning to much?
Smokescreen: They hate winners.
Prowl: Are you certain they don't hate you?
Bluestreak: ...
Smokescreen: ... they hate winners.
Prowl: Repeating it doesn't make it true.
Bluestreak: I have a question. How many casinos have you been banned from, Smokescreen?
Smokescreen: Banned from? Wow, what little faith my brothers have in me.
Bluestreak: Ack! I didn't mean it like that. I was just curious. I'm sorry if I hurt your-.
Prowl: Bluestreak, he isn't feeling hurt, he is avoiding the question.
Bluestreak: ... Smokescreen... how many have you been banned from?
Smokescreen: As the older brother I don't have to answer that.
Prowl: Avoidance.
Bluestreak: Prowl, I think-.

Cybertronian Units of Time: a Guide
…concocted by me, via:
Canon Definitions
Most Common Terms Used in Fandom (that I have seen)
Most Common Interpretations of Aforementioned Terms
Math That Makes Those Terms Make Sense Together
Filling in the Blanks With What Sounded Good (to me)
So essentially I began with Cybertronian units with explicit definitions in canon that are also widely used in fandom (ie. Vorn = 83 years, Joor = 6 hours, Groon = 1 hour). I then worked my way out from those and tried to keep to rough factors of 6/8/10.
Some terms that did have explicit canon definitions had to be slightly skewed from their value (ie. Breem: 8 → 6 minutes, Klik: 8 → 6 seconds) if their definition contradicted another definition that made more sense/fit better.Â
At any rate, obviously no one is obligated to use this standard, but canon Transformers content has been unfortunately… awful at establishing any universal units of time, their relationship to each other, or their equivalents to human units of time.
So this occasionally makes fanfiction an absolute nightmare for people like me with a crap memory who don’t want to constantly have to scroll through a thousand pages of the wiki to remind themselves what the hell a groon is.
So, naturally, I simply spent far too long whipping up this at-a-glance guide to keep track of it & on the off chance that the fandom might adopt it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Â
(PLEASE REBLOG THIS IF YOU LIKE IT SO THAT MORE FANS CAN SEE IT!)
I know your main blog too...

Hi.
https://www.tumblr.com/emilixthefox/818075766733619200/prowl-hardly-soundwave-query-prowl-likes?source=share. Poor prowl at least he has soundwave with him. But this got me thinking, what happens if the roles are reversed? How will Jazz respond to Soundwave questioning him missing his prowl? Would Jazz accept sounds?
Uuuuh, well, in this universe Jazz mainly found Prowl intriguing and wanted to learn more about him but accidentally fell for him. Soundwave in this universe is very close to Prowl and they work together a lot. Soundwave has a desire to protect and help Prowl. Whether it's affection or Soundwave's own protective nature towards Prowl, I'm not saying.
If the rolls were reversed, Jazz and Soundwave would be just friends because there is also Blaster that's Jazz's best friend and if Jazz hadn't fallen Prowl he would have gone after Blaster. And Soundwave doesn't care much about others outside his court. Soundwave and Jazz would bond over losing Prowl. But even if Jazz went after Soundwave as a romantic interest Soundwave would probably only accept Jazz as a love interest if Soundwave didn't have to worry about things.
How would Jazz responded? I think Soundwave's question would be a little different from what he asked Prowl. Soundwave probably ask "was it love or curiosity?" And Jazz responded would probably be along the lines of "Yes, I was sick with love."
Would Jazz accept Soundwave? Jazz has no problem becoming friends with anyone. If he wants to become friends with Soundwave and get really close to him then he will. But with everything both Soundwave and Jazz are dealing with they wouldn't fully have time for each other. Soundwave would still be grieving Prowl and how he thinks he failed Prowl. And Jazz would rather spend lots of time with Blaster while grieving.
I don't know. I didn't think this far. Because Soundwave's story line is a little different from Prowl's and Jazz's. Plus there is also Hook who wants to court Prowl. It's hard to reverse them because it all depends on the character's relationships, wants, and goals. Jazz "dying" was because he was helping someone and things went "wrong". Prowl has a curse / virus that limits him. Soundwave simply wants everyone to be okay and wants the best ending for all the courts, to be free. Jazz is free spirited and only came because Blaster came.
Look, this universe is all over the place. This is about how good I could explain it. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.
Prowl: Hardly...
Soundwave: Query: Prowl likes Jazz?
Prowl: It would be liked since he is dead now.
Soundwave: Prowl angry?
Prowl: A promise broken and I was kept in the dark about Jazz's death. But there is nothing do to about it. Getting angry and lashing out does nothing.
Soundwave: Prowl special.
Prowl: What?
Soundwave: I would lash out. Be angry at the ones who wrong me.
Prowl: You don't.
Soundwave: Soundwave : holds it in until revenge comes.
Prowl: That explains much. Don't worry about me. I didn't come here to make friends, I have a mission.
Soundwave: Sentinel is...
Prowl: Gone? Yes, now I must make sure Starscream wins. That's why I was sent here.
Soundwave: ... Understood. Nothing has changed for Prowl.
Prowl: Yes... but I'm...
Soundwave: Prowl?
Prowl: I'm grateful that your here with me... I will take my leave now.
Tips for Writing Trauma!
i love you all and i need you to stop writing trauma as a single breakdown scene in the rain after which the character is Healed and Ready to Love Again. that is NOT trauma :(
⊹ Trauma doesn't announce itself. it shows up as your character suddenly not being able to eat a specific food, or going very quiet in a loud room, or laughing at the wrong moment because their nervous system decided that was the appropriate response. it's mundane and weird and it makes no sense from the outside. the dramatic flashback sequence is the least realistic part. the most realistic part is your character suddenly needing to leave a grocery store for a reason they can't articulate.
⊹ The body keeps score and it keeps it in the strangest places. a particular smell. the quality of light at a certain time of day. a tone of voice that sounds like someone who hurt them. your traumatised character doesn't think "this reminds me of the bad thing." their heart rate spikes and they don't know why. they feel wrong and they can't locate the feeling. they're irritable for three days and only later, if ever, do they make the connection. write the disconnection. it's more honest.
⊹ trauma also does not make people universally sympathetic and wise. it makes some people controlling. some people funny at inappropriate times. some people very good in a crisis and completely unable to handle a normal day. some people are generously kind to strangers and absolutely terrible to people they love. trauma shapes behaviour in contradictory, inconvenient ways that don't resolve into a lesson. your traumatised character can be difficult to like. that's not a flaw in the writing. that's the WRITING.
⊹ Healing is not linear and it is not a destination. your character does not get better and stay better. they have a good month and then something small undoes two years of progress and they have to start again with slightly more tools than before. that's the actual shape of it. the spiral, not the arc. the scene where they finally open up and cry is not the end. it might not even be progress. sometimes it just means they were tired that night.
Love me not
Prowl: ...
Jazz: ...
Prowl: So you weren't flirting with me?
Jazz: No... that was... it... I have different covers, identities, you know, different personalities. They have names. It was Meister that was flirting with you. He. It likes you.
Prowl: You don't like me but one of your covers likes me?
Jazz: Yeah...
Prowl: How does that happen???
Jazz: Honestly, I don't know. This is the first time this has happened. Of course, Meister is a long time identity I've had even before the Autobots. He has a lot of memories stored in him.
Prowl: ... How do we fix this?
Jazz: I don't know. I keep trying to access the profile to edit it but Meister, that bug, kicks me out. It won't let me-.
Prowl: Take his own identity from him?
Jazz: ... Yeah...
Jazz: Repeat what I say
Jazz: wait NOT EVERYTHING

#Prowl is also on a neurodivergence side and the whole world is constantly mocking him for it
/slides you three pickles to elaborate on your previous tag
Yeah so.
IDW Prowl is a messy case of very inconsistent writing so I won't go into analyzing his every move and decision. Right or wrong or whatever, I am not talking about morals here.
The thing is. If you look at him from a general perspective. The guy is built differently from others. His processor works in constant calculated-predictions mode. All his life is basically an endless crunch of statistics and strategies because he is literally incapable of thinking any other way. His brain is different. And it is not even vaguely implied It clearly stated.
Therefore. Quite obvious parallel can be drawn to neurodivergence.
But then there's like. The way it handled in the story. Because Prowl is one of those people who you can make fun of and everyone would laugh in unison instead of giving you weird looks. There's sooo many jokes in idw about him being unpleasant to be around. Not only because of his crimes but because he is boring and weird and rude and whatever else. People don't like him they mostly just tolerate him because he outranks them. And I get them! I would be mad at him too if I was in their place.
So when I was reading I was like OKAY. This is an interesting setup. It's a good tragic point. HOW this situation is gonna be resolved? It has to be resolved somehow? Characters should change and grow and learn lessons and stuff! What is Prowl's personal growth timeline here? How is he going to get accepted by all those people?
And the answer is. Well.....he got hooked up to the brains of normal bots and for the first time in his life he saw how they see the world and immediately surrendered into "Oh no I realised my way of thinking is evil and wrong and your way of thinking is all emotional and good. Thank you normal people for showing me the truth."
Like. Bruh. I get what the writers tried to achieve there, I do. But really. Prowl doesn't have a personal journey where he learns to adapt and live comfortably with his otherness. Prowl doesn't get any real understanding (at least I can't remember) from other characters. Prowl just has this one big powerful scene where he gets told that the thing that's evil and wrong about him is also the only thing he absolutely cannot remove or change. His brain. Or processor. You get the idea.
Which is. Okay cruel. As well as extremely sad and unsatisfying ending for his character.
Which is why I said in that previous post that I prefer Blurr as a representative of neurodivergent people in idw. Blurr went through his personal growth journey and that journey was about him understanding other people's views and struggles without changing anything about his differently working processor. That is a nice and fairly satisfying ending. He can die in peace after that haha
While Prowl is kinda. Just stuck in this limbo where other people hate him for the way he is. And the way he is ...is because of how his brain works but he cannot do anything about that so he keeps trying his best for the Autobots cause because if he cannot be anything good then he will at least be something useful.

At least that's the way I understand it🤔
Tips for Writing Amnesia!
As someone who's researched neurological conditions extensively and interviewed people with memory disorders, I'm begging fiction writers to please, PLEASE stop with the "bonk on the head = total life erasure" trope. That's not how any of this works.
⊹ Retrograde amnesia (forgetting the past) is rare and almost NEVER involves forgetting your entire identity while maintaining perfect memory formation going forward. Know what's way more common? Anterograde amnesia: you can't form NEW memories. Like the guy from Memento, except usually less tattoo-based organizational systems and more confused repetition.
⊹ Head injuries causing amnesia? Sure, happens. But it's usually the minutes/hours around the trauma that vanish, not your entire childhood, first kiss, and ability to recognize your spouse. The brain doesn't store memories in one convenient "delete this folder" location. You might forget the car accident but remember your kids' names.
⊹ What's weird about real amnesia: skills often remain. You might not remember learning piano, but your fingers still know the keys. Procedural memory (how to do things) lives in different brain areas than episodic memory (life events). Your amnesiac character might not remember their name but could still speak three languages, drive stick shift, or execute complex martial arts.
⊹ Another thing: amnesia from psychological trauma (dissociative amnesia) is controversial and functions differently than neurological amnesia. It's selective, blocking specific traumatic events while leaving other memories intact. And it doesn't typically include identity confusion unless we're talking dissociative fugue states, which are incredibly rare.
⊹ Recovery is unpredictable and often incomplete. Memories might return in fragments, dreams, or triggered by specific sensory cues, but they're often unreliable, contaminated by suggestion or false memories your brain constructs to fill gaps.
⊹ If you want the drama of starting over, just... let your character fake it. Witness protection, running from the past, choosing to disappear, its way more plausible than convenient brain erasure.
Tips for Writing Interrogation Scenes!!
⊹ Look, I've watched enough true crime documentaries to know that most fictional interrogations are absolute garbage. You've got your detective screaming two inches from someone's face, maybe slapping the table, threatening to "throw away the key" while the suspect dramatically confesses everything in tears. BUT Real interrogations are boring as hell and fascinatingly manipulative.
⊹ First mistake: the bad cop routine. Real interrogators are your new best friend. They're offering you coffee, commiserating about your terrible childhood, nodding sympathetically while you explain why you "had to" do it. The Reid Technique (controversial as it is) relies on building rapport, minimizing moral blame, and offering face-saving scenarios. "We know you didn't mean to hurt anyone" works better than "YOU'RE GOING TO PRISON FOREVER."
⊹ Second: nobody's getting tortured into confessing in legitimate police stations in democratic countries. It's illegal, unreliable, and creates unusable evidence. If you're writing enhanced interrogation or whatever euphemism we're using, that's a different kettle of extremely dark fish, and you need to research actual documented cases rather than Jack Bauer fantasies.
⊹ Third: time. Real interrogations last HOURS. Experienced detectives will talk about anything (sports, weather, your childhood dog) for ninety minutes before casually circling back to "so where were you Friday night?" They're looking for inconsistencies, watching body language, letting you talk yourself into corners.
⊹ Fourth: lawyers shut everything down instantly. The second someone says "I want a lawyer," legally, that's it. Interrogation over. All those scenes where cops keep pushing after someone lawyers up? Inadmissible evidence, case dismissed, detective possibly fired.
⊹ Plus IMPORTANT--the psychological chess match. Show the detective noticing micro-expressions, strategically revealing evidence, using the suspect's own words against them. "You said you left at 9pm, but we have footage of your car at 10:15." The suspect's internal monologue frantically recalculating their story.
⊹ Good cop/bad cop can work, but it's usually good cop/slightly concerned cop. "My partner thinks you're lying, but I believe you, help me understand so I can help you."
Prowl: *Finishing up work.*
Jazz: Blaster, have you watched that earth movie emperor's new groove?
Blaster: Uuh yes. I have.
Jazz: You know the main antagonists, Yzma and Kronk?
Blaster: Yes.
Jazz: I feel like that's me and you. Except we are both just Kronk.
Blaster: Oh! I understand.
Prowl: Wait, does that make me Yzma?
Jazz: Yeah. Yeah, ahahah.
Blaster: That's accurate.
Jazz: That lines up.
Jazz & Blaster: *Laughing*
