Bright Power
Ongoing project, 2017
This is a year-long, co-created project to warm and slow time, to examine our individual and communal relationships to self, to one another and to the earth and uses the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse as a catalyst for this work. The project is framed within the New and Full Moons every month for interior and extroverted conversation, ceremony, reflection, nourishment and writing. How might we become more attuned to a way of living that is wedded to a critical empathy, generosity, care and respect? How might we create fissures in the hateful structures that surround us? How are we contributing to the future worlds we want to see and live in? What can we do today? What can we do together?

An invitation:
December 13, 2015 (Full Moon)
Dear me,
I am writing to invite you (me) to slow time, warm time, get to know yourself (myself) and some other dear ones better, come to know some cycles better, get to know some land and sky better and make some progress towards a world you (I) want to see and experience more of. I am inviting you (me) to do this both independently and to co-create it, too, since I know you (I) can get away from the investing in the self part and focus on the others part. I am inviting you (me) to a year of Bright Power. What does this mean? In some ways you (I) won’t know until it’s happening in real time and sometimes you (I) won’t understand until after it’s over and sometimes it will feel unwieldy and sometimes it will feel indulgent and sometimes I think it will feel just right.
Every New and Full Moon for 2017 will be spent slowing down, building in time, building in ceremony, building in intentional time with yourself (myself) and seeking out others to gather with, both in person and from afar. The New Moon will be for you (me): inward, maintenance, the return, the rejuvenating of the reservoir. The Full Moon will be for us, you (me) and dear ones, to gather around a table, speak closely and deeply, share and work through. Writing will be present on both days, cooking and cleansing will be present on both days, as will shrines, meditations, questions, comfort and discomfort. You (I) will not be the only one making the shapes of the Full Moon: others will be, too, and our dialogues will be occurring in their own ways in many places, and hopefully others will have their own New Moon time and we will share our findings together.
On the New Moon in August you (I) will be along the Path of Totality to witness and feel the Total Solar Eclipse. You (I) will probably be in Oregon or Idaho but it is good to keep this open and to just know that you (I) are (are) going and if others want to come, that’s great but you (I) don’t need to be the organizer, the den mom or the teacher. This year is about supporting the growth in yourself (myself) that you (I) hope to foster in others, to be generous in this exploration and show and share it. This is a year that must be filled with more compassion, dialogue, inclusivity, assistance, resistance, activism and love towards the self, one another and the planet.
You (I) have the bright power you (I) need and you (I) need to show it and share it with yourself (myself), with others and with the earth.
