FTH 2024 Auction Calendar
We blinked, and it's 2024, and our EIGHTH year of running this auction. 2024 has all the same problems as last year but more — but we also have a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.
You can look at this page (also linked in our header) for the list of this year's supported nonprofit organizations. We'll be posting more detailed profiles of each of them in the coming weeks. Below is the full calendar for this year's auction.
February 5th: creator signups open
February 19th: creator signups close
February 29th: browsing period begins
March 5th: bidding opens
March 9th: bidding closes
March 16th: proof of high bid donations due
March 21st: proof of 2nd chance donations due
December 31st: fanworks due
Back in 2021, as we were pulling together the fifth FTH auction, we joked together behind the scenes about how great it felt that the name of our auction was no longer quite as on-the-nose as it had been in our first few years. But it's 2024, and in all likelihood 45 will be back on the ballot: just one of the many sobering and scary things we're facing down this year.
But for the past seven years, we've had the privilege of watching thousands of fans -- yes, literally thousands -- dedicate their time and money and energy to the twin projects of sending support to some amazing organizations while building and strengthening community ties within fandom. Now, more than ever, that kind of community-building is essential.
We hope you'll join us, and join one another, in sending much-needed financial support to these amazing organizations and in putting more joy and beauty out into the world in the form of fanworks. These are dark times, but when we join together we can make them a little brighter.
(What is Fandom Trumps Hate anyway? Read our FAQ.)
Welcome to the ninth annual WIP Big Bang! If you're interested in signing up and have read all our FAQs (https://wipbigbang.dreamwidth.org/151159.html), please do so here by filling out this form. If you are planning to do multiple fics, please fill out a separate form for each one. The only required sections are email, and the main username, but please fill out as much of the form as you can. In an effort to keep this as a low-stress bang, we will not email announcements or reminders to participants. Email addresses will only be used to connect artists and writers or to mediate issues. Please note, this bang is run on multiple platforms- Discord, Dreamwidth, and Tumblr. Important announcements will be cross-posted to these platforms. You will receive an autogenerated copy of this form (from google forms) upon completion. If you do not, receive one within 24 hours please contact us at [email protected].
And it has begun! Feel free to use this form to sign your fics up for the 2022 round of WIP Big Bang!
Creator Signups for FTH 2022 are open!
Be sure to read over our newly-updated FAQ, along with our post about a couple of changes in signups this year.
If you are a first-time FTH creator, you should also take a look at our list of tips for first-time creators (repeat creators might find some helpful info here, too!).
Once you've done all that, and you know what you want to offer, head on over to the signup form! Remember that you need to fill it out once for each auction you want to offer, up to three total.
The signup form will be open until February 13 (you also have until then to edit your signups; after that you'll have to email the mods directly).
FTH 2022: The details.
In late 2016, the Fandom Trumps Hate fanworks auction was founded in response to the disastrous US presidential election, as an attempt to band together and put some good back into the world by raising money for nonprofit organizations working to protect the vulnerable and marginalized. Over the past five years, we’ve raised more than $135,000 together for a range of progressive organizations — and we aren’t quitting now.
In this post, you’ll find the calendar for the 2022 auction, as well as this year’s list of supported organizations. If you’re unfamiliar with FTH, or if you just want a refresher, take a look at our freshly-updated FAQ.
This year, we are raising money for roughly a dozen small, progressive nonprofits doing vital work on shoestring budgets: advocating for immigrant children, providing running water to Navajo communities, supporting incarcerated sex workers, and reviving local journalism, among others. Additionally, we are supporting the whole category of organizations known as abortion funds: grassroots community groups that help people make the best reproductive choices for themselves. We’ve identified a few specific abortion funds that are worthy recipients, but we have also linked the National Network of Abortion Funds’ directory to help you connect to your local abortion fund. See the full list of supported organizations here.

What New-in-2021 (or -2022) fandoms should we include this year?
Every year, our auction signup form has a drop-down list with roughly 100 fandoms in it. (The form gets unwieldy if the list is any longer.) If you want to create fanworks for a fandom that's not on the list, that's totally fine: there's an "other" option for this exact purpose. But of course it's a little easier if your fandom is already listed, so every year we do our best to anticipate which fandoms will draw a lot of signups.
With this in mind: what new shows, movies, books, &c should we include in our fandoms list this year?
Note that we are mainly interested in media that have debuted since the beginning of 2021 (e.g. the Green Knight, Word of Honor, Hacks) but if there is some older media you want to suggest, you can also take a look at our tags from last year's auction to see if it's on our radar already.
If you have a suggestion, please reply to this post! (And we’d love a reblog/boost as well.)

Raven Cycle Big Bang 2021 Masterlist
The 2021 Raven Cycle Reverse Big Bang has come to a close!
This year we did a Reverse Big Bang, where the artists submitted their artwork first and the writers wrote fics based on that art. We had twenty-seven great pieces of art and twenty-eight great fics!
Please make sure to give your love to all these wonderful creators by liking, commenting, reblogging, etc.
Below the cut you’ll find a listing of all the art and fics. Or you can check out the AO3 Collection of the fics.

To make sure that the fun goes on for everyone but no one has to stress, we're opening up a call for pinch-hit writers!

Pinch-hitters come in play if a writers has to drop out of the bang for whatever reason. We will contact you only if needed, show you the prompt, and if you fancy it you can pick it up and make it your own!
N.B.: Since pinch hitters work on a reduced timeline, the minimum word-count for them is lowered to 5000 words! (we aim to publish for the end of August, unless you ask for extension)
Where you sitting on the fence about joining the TRC/TDT Reverse Bang? This is your chance to get some fun!
Sign-up here to be a pinch-hitter
[Please note that the call for betas is not closed and there are a few projects still waiting for one. If you want to be a Bang Beta, the link is here!]
Welcome to Peaky Blinders Summer Bingo!
This fest is a “bingo” style fest, which means each participant will receive a bingo card. The goal is to fulfill a set of prompts in a line or pattern (more on that below). After you’ve completed your line/pattern, you’ve got bingo!
/ Rules /
1. In the spirit of keeping things stress-free, there is one rule regarding fanworks: they must be brief. Please see the “Fanworks” section below for further details.
2. There are no restrictions on canonical character pairings for the fest. However, rare pairs are enthusiastically welcomed!
3. For the purposes of this fest, no Character/OC or Character/Reader ships may be featured in any bingo fanwork. We want to give canon characters the chance to shine.
4. You do not have to use the same pairing or same fanwork type to create bingo. For instance, you can write two John/Esme fics and draw one Ada/Jessie sketch.
/ Timeline /
Sign-ups Begin: July 5th
Sign-ups End*: July 31th
Deadline** for Fanworks: August 31st
*You cannot request a bingo card after this date. The exception is if you are already participating and have finished your card. Just DM me, and I can make you a second.
**As with all the fests I run, the deadline is a recommendation for those who like to have deadlines. However, no one is going to shame you if you complete your card after this date. You can still add fanworks to the AO3 collection.
/ Sign-Ups /
First, you need to decide whether you want (1) a sensory prompt card; (2) an untranslatable word card; or (3) a mix of both. You can check out all the possible prompts you can get in THIS DOCUMENT. After you decide which kind of card you’re comfortable with, you can select three prompts as Do Not Want prompts on your sign-up form. You may also opt-in to one prompt of your choosing. So make sure to note those for the next step!
Use the following form to request a bingo card: HERE.
After you fill out that form, I will create a randomized bingo card to your preferences. I will then email you the card at your preferred email. That’s all there is to it.
/ Fanworks /
You may create any kind of fanwork to fulfill the bingo space. Because this is a challenge, there are a few rules to make it fair:
-Fic: 1000 words or less
-Art/Edit/Gifs: Sketch or edit/gifs featuring no more than four images
-Fanmix/Playlist: Five songs maximum
/ How to Make Bingo /
When signing up, you will have the option to choose one of three card sizes: 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5. What lines/shapes you can use to make bingo will depend on the size of your card, so make sure to take that into consideration when you fill out your form.
If you want to keep it simple, select from one of these BASIC BINGO SHAPES.
If you’re feeling daring, select one of the CHALLENGING SHAPES.
/ Where Do I Post /
You can post on both Tumblr and AO3! Feel free to post as you complete your bingo squares; no need to wait until you get bingo.
If posting on AO3, you can add your work to THIS COLLECTION.
Once you have finished bingo, make a masterlist of your bingo fanworks at tag me in it! After our soft August 31st deadline, I will make a masterpost of everyone who got bingo.
/ Questions /
I’m hosting this one solo, so feel free to reach out via @boundinshallows or DM me! I’m happy to clarify anything.
