Evaluation

The brief 

- For this project we needed to create a 30 second animation about a project that we have already done. we could either do a text animation, or something that we had already scripted or narrated for another class. We should use music and dialogue to create this a swell.

Task     

- I decide to do a 30 second clip about a project that i had already created for andy’s lesson called the Grimm version of red riding hood. This is the script that i based my animation on for this lesson. I had originally created another animation that i was going to do about a vets with a dog that could talk but then i stared doing it in cell animation and i found it was so hard to do and i got very stressed with it so i decide to do stop motion which i found was quicker and easier to complete. i had Reece , brad me , Melissa and Daniela as actors to play out my story. i got a nikon camera and stared my project. we went to the back of the college and first filmed it there then we went into a room in college where grahams was in and filmed in there to complete the rest of my animation. when i was done with filming it i was trying to process it on after effects but it wasn't working and it kept on coming but with a blurry screen so then tim said to do it on final cut pro and it worked well so i decide to do it on there. Once i sorted it out i then had to find the music so i typed in red riding hood youtube and the movie red riding hood soundtrack came up and i found that i work well with it.

Strengths

- My strengths for this project was that the red riding hood music fitted in well with the footage.

- I think that this project went very well and that i had planned it well aswell. It also helped that i have created a script for another class and had used it for olys class because then i had something to based my animation on.

Improvements

- We showed it back to the class sand they said that it was good and that the music suited well with it but because when i filmed it i pressed the shutter button where it took a lot of pictures in a few seconds. So in the result of pressing that button when looking back at the pictures i had blurry pictures because of pressing that button and moving while pressing it.

- The only problem that i had with this animation was that when i was trying to do my stop motion in after effects but it didn't let me see a few images in the stop motion and i couldn't see a few images. So i re did it in final cut pro and it perfectly.

The task

In this project we had to make a film trailer. I was in a group with Mellissa, Daniela and brad. We did a film trailer about a horror movie called possesion. Which is about a group of girls who found a doll in there basement and they get possed by the doll. 

Our Roles

We each had individual tasks for this tailer. Bradley was camera man, mellissa was also a camera man and Daniela, me and gerogia (my friend) was in the tailer. 

The Activities

First of our filing didn't go to well because the footage wasn't that great and it didn't make such sense. So we filmed a second and the footage from that went very well because we knew what we was doing and we actually followed the script and it all went okay. There was no health and safety issues in this filing we was all careful and all helped each other with carrying equipment around.

Improvements

I think that we could of improved on by following the script a little bit more but as a group i think we did great. Also i think that i could of improved knowing what to do more when editing the trailer because we each did our own edits and i was with daniela and it didn't turn out that great but we tried our best and hopefully it is okay.

Proposal

Proposal- I am going to make a mini animation project on my radio project for andy which is called Grimm which is about the true version of little red riding hood who stumbles upon some dangerous characters while trying to make her way to kill her grandma. characters- The characters that are involved in my project are little red riding hood-Emma , grandma-Mellissa, Witch- Daniela, hunter-lee, wolf-reece. Environment- The environment that i am going to be doing it in is the woods in the collage and the halls way at collage and a room in the collage aswell.

Five animation techniques:

The first technique is stop motion. Stop motion is an animation technique and a cinematic technique where the camera is repeatedly stopped and started so it will give the impression of that an object or person is moving. We did a stop motion project where me and Daniela were on chairs and we pretended that we was driving down the corridor and into a lift but Mellissa was stopping the camera and we was moving a space forward then starting the camera and doing that repeatedly. I think that this was a very good and easy technique to use because even though I can take sometime to is effective and the outcome is good.

 The second technique is flipbook. Flipbook is an animation technique were you have a small book and you draw small pictures on each page of and object or a person moving and when you play it back it looks like the object or something is moving. We did this project in class oly handed out some small sticky notes and we had to draw out an animation on each corner of the page. When we flipped the sticky notes it looked good even though it was hard to flip the book. This is an effective technique because even though if you’re drawing skills aren’t good it can still look effective and simple to do and use.

The third technique is thaumatrope. A thaumatrope is a toy designed in the 19th century where you draw a picture on one side of a piece of paper and draw another drawing on the other side. Then you make two holes on either side of the paper and put string though the holes then when you flip the paper around you will see the picture move. We did this in class and I drew a muffin, which on one side was normal, and on the other side had a bite taken out of it. It turned out well and was an affective technique to do and use.

 The fourth technique is Claymation. Claymation is another form of stop animation it is the most traditional and instead of moving a person or an object you are using clay or rubber silicone. The first ever-short film was made in 1953 called Gumbasia produced by Art Clokey who went on to creating Gumby and Davey and goliath. Many other famous directors have now gone on to using this very popular technique like Peter Lord and Nick Park who made chicken run. Claymation takes a lot of time to produce and creates because if you have a person moving each and every body part and expression has to move in sync as well. Even though we haven’t used this technique yet I find it the most enjoyable to watch and I find it interesting.

The fifth technique is Zoetrope. A zoetrope is an old 19th century Victorian motion picture projector toy. Which consists of a round drum like cylinder, which has still images inside all which are moving in a different way so when you turn it the images look like they are moving. This technique was early invented by William George Horner. Horner originally called it the Daedatelum. Not many people uses Zoetrope’s now but in museum of modern art there is a 3D toy story zoetrope, which has been created by Pixar, they are now in two of Disney parks. I think this looks like an affective form of animation ever though I haven’t made one.

Task 1

In olys class today we did a rotoscoping. we had to find a free clip on the internet of an animal or a person doing something, then we had to download it to our files and open adobe after effects. We then imported the video clip and double clicked the video which brought up a new tab we then had to cut out the background of the clip we had and focus it on the main chacrater or object. We did this by using a tool called Roto brush tool. This creates a pink line around the main object or character on blocks out the background that you do not want, Green circle means that you are blocking more stuff out and red means that you are subtracting the pieces that you do not want. We did this for every clip in the sequence which had to be at most 15 seconds long. We then had to go back and check that each clip was done correctly. After we done that we had to click onto composition tab and played around with the effects and smoothness of the video. We could either make the main character or object stand out or the background stand out and the picture fade out. We could also make it rain and do other effects i decide to add a background by finding one on the internet saving it to documents and importing it to adobe effects and adding the background. After that we had to render it by going on the composition and making sure all the tabs are alright and then clicked render and saved it to the place that we wanted and upload it to tumbler and describe it!

Today we used photoshop and got a picture of our celebrity or us then we cut it out by the lasso tool out our head on photoshop and then got a new layer and and added and drew new body, arms and legs to different layers then once we had done that we went on to after effects and then we imported our files and then we have to move them into correct order like head , mouth , arms etc then we clicked on the arms and legs and attached them onto the body. After we done that we made them move by clicking transformation and rotation to make it look like that they are moving by clicking each second on the timeline to move them. We did the same thing for the mouth and in the end it looks like its moving. Once we have done that we imported the music from mp3 converter and we got the music of of youtube and then we render it by clicking on render and then save it to where we want. I saved it onto the desktop and then we had to upload it onto tumblr.

Stop motion

todays in oly’s class we did a stop motion and we did of me and Daniela pretending to drive a car down the corridor and at the end of the photos we played it back and renamed then all we are very pleased with how it has turned out and it matches well with our plan and ideas
