You fell in love with a broken boy, You knew loving him would be your destruction, So you didn’t just fall, You jumped.
You always did like the taste of blood a little too damn much // k.s. (via worthygamora)

A ghost. That was what Emma had been to him for five years. A ghost from his past that existed only in the furthest reaches of his memory, compartmentalized parts of his mind that he kept locked away to be forgotten about. He’d spent so much time repressing things, and aside from the occasional sensory stimulus that triggered a memory, he was never forced to think about it. Until now, he hadn’t been faced with something like this in five long years. Her words took longer to process because Damon was so tripped up by her voice, the sound of it like listening to an old album you’d forgotten had existed but had once been a favorite. When the words did process some of the anger filtered away, leaving him with a combination of emotions so tangled that he felt numb, felt none of them. Guilt, anger, confusion, terror, all mingling together and making Damon feel like turning around and sprinting in the other direction. He’d left Emma. Without a word, without so much as a text or phone call or measly letter. Nothing. “You really didn’t know I was here,” he said finally, coming to the conclusion aloud. The chances were so slim, but no one could have feigned that surprise. “Emma, I…Jesus Christ.” He dug a cigarette habitually out of the pack in his pocket and lit it with an unsteady hand, taking a deep drag and letting the smoke out in a cloud before looking at her again. “I’m not pretending not to know you…gimme a break, you’re the last person I ever expected see here.“ That sounded bad, and given the tears he could see shimmering in her eyes already it probably wasn’t the best idea to be harsh. The problem was, he’d changed so much since he’d last seen her, and truthfully, he had ’t the first clue how to act right now. "Look, I’m sorry I never contacted you, I just…I had to disappear, I did it for a reason. I came all the way across the goddamn country so I wouldn’t have to think about any of that shit.” Inhaling another crisping lungful of chemical smoke, he forced his joints to relax marginally. “So did you…did you just transfer here, or…?”
Emma couldn’t believe he was standing in front of her. She wanted to hate him so badly, wanted to scream at him for all of the pain he caused her. But the sad fact of the matter was she didn’t hate him. She was relieved to see him, glad he was alive. “How could I have known you were here? Am I a fucking mind reader?” she asked him in a harsh tone. She was trying not to be so cruel but she still wasn’t over the fact that he had just-disappeared. Watching him take a drag she shifted her weight and sighed. “I’m so glad I’m the last person you expected to see. Shows how much you’ve thought about me since you up and left.” she nodded, “It’s a little late for sorry Damon. I thought you were hurt. I didn’t know what happened to you. Do you know what that feels like?” she asked her tone biting. “Yea I transferred here at the beginning of the semester.” she mumbled trying her best not to look at him so that she wouldn’t start crying. Every muscle in her body wanted to give up, she knew the second she looked into his eyes that she wasn’t over him, not fully, and she wasn’t sure she ever would be.

“Where’s the incompetent chimp now?” Since his preferred arm was still caged in a plaster cast, Percy had acquired a water boy to keep him hydrated during the sunny afternoon. Plump cheeks and stubby legs eagerly raced up to his side with an unscrewed bottle of sparkling mineral water to refresh his palate. One sip was immediately spat out, Percy’s features screwing up like he’d just gargled a mouthful of hydrochloric acid. “Chilled, Charles! That was tepid.”
Emma saw Percy across the quad and walked towards him. She couldn’t quite hear what he was saying but she saw a smaller rounder boy running towards him. When she finally reached Percy she looked at him and sighed, “Really? You’ve got to be kidding me that you need someone to get you water right?”
tfwdamon:
Things had been starting to look up again after these last several weeks of extreme internal anguish made even worse by the coke and whiskey he relentlessly pumped into his body like it was the only thing keeping him alive. He couldn’t have said he was feeling good and really meant it, but he was at least feeling better. Better enough, anyway, to start regularly attending the classes that he’d been missing lately. He was crossing the quad when his eyes caught on a girl with dark brown hair falling down her back, unable to see her face yet given the distinct impression he knew her from somewhere. The way she was standing, maybe. He’d been perfectly content to let it go, except that she chose that moment to turn her body enough that Damon could see her face, and the impact of realization was like a punch to the gut. He could only stare for a moment, mouth agape, eyes wide, repressed memories swimming to the surface and filling his head like ominous grey clouds. Emma. It couldn’t be, but it was. Emma Warren, whom he hadn’t seen in five years–not since the night he’d lost his mother to a couple stab wounds in the back. Feeling as though he was wading through warm taffy and with no real idea of what he was going to say he made his way over, completely unaware of his surroundings, tunnel vision having gripped him completely. Five years ago his hands hadn’t been perpetually shaky–now he had to stuff them in his pockets to hide it as he stopped in front of her. It was, he decided, what looking at a ghost might feel like. “Em,” sounded weak and colored with shock in his unsteady voice, eyes taking her face in with a kind of awe he’d never experienced before. “Sorry, Emma…Warren, right?” Of course it was. Who else could it be? But the absurdity of it made it feel like a dream, so the question had come out in its own. “What…what are you–…” Speech failed him, words dropping off into incredulity. His heart, he realized, was jackhammering away inside his ribs and even if it had meant life or death, he wasn’t sure he could have gotten another coherent word out. Yet he managed, and the question sounded as cold and distant as he’d become since she’d last known him. “Why are you here?” @emma-warren
Emma was standing on the quad talking to one of her classmates about the test they had coming up. She tucked a piece of her long red hair behind her ear and turned her body slightly. That was when she saw it, a figure walking towards her, and quickly. She decided to ignore it and turned back to continue her conversation but not before she heard the voice behind her. She felt her heart stop. She turned slowly looking up at the taller familiar man. “Damon...?” she asked softly taking a step backwards. All of the memories came rushing back to her as if they had happened yesterday, not five whole years ago. She remembered saying goodbye to him one morning, making plans to see him that night and then never seeing him again. “You’re going to pretend you don’t know who I am? Is that the route you’re going to go?” she asked him bluntly. “I’m going to school here. Unfortunately you don’t get to control where I do that after you up and fucking disappear. People thought you were dead.” she crossed her arms staring at him trying to fight back tears.
Emma was walking through the library with her headphones in not entirely watching where she was going as per usual. She didn’t see the small step down before she tripped catching herself before landing on her face. Looking up she smiled sheepishly and blushed hard, “Please pretend you didn’t see that.”

Skye: hey move to canada with me???
Emma: deal. When do we leave?
“I plucked a snow white pube this morning,” Max said solemnly. “That’s good luck, though. Right?”
“Well if it’s not good luck then what is it right?” Emma said giggling a little.
“’kay, listen,” genie snapped, turning abruptly to the person she was addressing, “i’m trying to memorize a shit ton of drug classifications for my exam and i need you to either shut the fuck up or go somewhere else.” she took school very seriously, seeing it as her only route to a better life. “please just - if you’re not gonna leave, at least help me.”
Emma looked at the girl next to her and nodded, “Oh shit sorry..” she took her headphone out. “I didn’t realize I was singing aloud.” she said softly as she peered over at what the girl was studying. “I could help you sure.” she nodded.
