Today we celebrate the 30th birthday of one of the best musicals in the world: Les Misérables! 🎉🎁🎂🎀🎈🎭🎶 #lesmis30 So here's some pics of me as Cosette, whom I played in an epic production in the hands of musical theatre directing giant Georg Malvius in Åbo, Finland, back in 2011. Jean Valjean and Marius were played by none less than the amazing artists Alexander Lycke and Glenn Edell. Do you know what the deal with Mona Botha is? I've never heard of her going on, and when Kristi Holden was sick, Emilie Lynn went on?

I don’t know, to be honest. Though the role of Christine hasn’t been shared in the World Tour, they had a 5/3 split (opposed to the regular 6/2 split), so they ALMOST shared the role. And if comparing to a production like Copenhagen 2009, where the role was shared, they always put on the other principal instead of the understudy in case of sickness (which meant the audience never got to enjoy emmafrostmusic‘s Christine - and same for the Phantoms, u/s Tomas Ambt Kofod never got to perform for an audience cause one of the principals always filled in for the other). But I don’t know why this is. Can be financial, can be contractual, can be simply a preference of principals rather than understudies. 

What I DO know is that Mona Botha one of the most elusive Christines out there. She’s been understudying the role on and off since 2004, and has definitely performed it as per this article. And yet no photos of her as Christine (only mirror bride) and no audios seems to have reached the public. Grumble.
