lost in translation (2003)
Its been a minute. 38 now. Sitting in the restroom. I dont want to face the world. I lost my best friend in 2022. Stellar. And in May lost his partner Tootsie
She knew it was coming and faced it like a fucking super hero. She held out and said goodbye to everyone and then passed. She wasn't in a lot of pain they said. I hope they weren't lying. But now she's with Stellar.
But now im afraid I won't remember them. I wont hear their barks. I wont smell their fur. I wont feel their wagging tails on my body when I pet them.
Stellar. 17 1/2 years. The best friend i could ever ask for.
Tootsie. 13 years. The best fucking companion I'll ever know.
You two were made for each other and I hope you both know I love you incredibly. I haven't stopped crying and missing you both.
I have lived with you all for half my life. I dont know what to do when I get sad now.
My daughter is my only family now. Im scared. I dont want to let her down.
I promise. Stellar. Tootsie. Cortana. I'll be the person you all think I am. I will not let anything stop me from becoming that person.
I love you all so much.
Thank you for being a part of my life.
Tootsie. Stellar. I dont know how heaven works. But I hope someone up there reads this to you. I miss you all so much and wish I could snuggle and pet you all the time.

Sofia Coppola often uses car rides as a metaphorical journey, physically advancing her characters through space while emotionally holding them at a standstill. Similar shots of young women gazing out of car windows caught between fascination, detachment, and contemplation, appear throughout her work.
In this shot from "Lost in Translation," Charlotte’s face is softly reflected in the car window, nearly dissolving into the neon chaos of Tokyo beyond. The blurred lights become an abstract, almost dreamlike swirl, emphasizing her sense of detachment. It’s a portrait of liminality: she’s physically in motion but emotionally stagnant, caught between awe at her surroundings and a deep, unshakable alienation. Coppola crafts this fleeting moment as a microcosm of the film’s themes—modern disconnection and the search for meaning amid the noise.
