This is everything. Legendary video director Sophie Muller always delivers the goods. Love the vulnerable, honest, and understated, performance by Selena, and simple execution of this beauty video. Great styling, Great hair and makeup. Beautiful cinematography. For what this is, its done perfectly.

Taylor Swift - Blank Space

Best pop song and pop video combo I have seen in ages. Props to music video veteran Joseph Kahn for directing such a scrumptious, perfectly executed visual feast, and for keeping his style fresh and current after so many years of directing. It looks like he genuinely cared about this video, and did not just ‘phone it in’ like so many established (and lazy) directors when it comes to videos these days.

I love the symmetrical composition of the shots, the highly stylised cinematography, the dramatic dolly moves, the colour palettes, the styling, and the edit. Edit has great pace, and new setups are introudced at perfectly timed intervals at the musical junctions. THIS is why it pays to invest in a 3 day shoot - the video is interesting the entire way through!

Love love love Taylor’s performance. It’s gutsy, and hilarious. I am sure she looked more awkward than glamorous in 99% of the rushes but the best bits are all in the edit, and, damn, she is the perfect heroine / villain in this private melodrama.

Damn! This is excellent. Just excellent. The man can do no wrong. He may single-handedly be capable of resurrecting 'the music video', as a genre of legitimate and thoughtful filmmaking, from the dead. Please make it so!

Been getting into the BBC drama series Accused recently. I love everything about this lesser-known series. The scripts, the cinematography, the casting and performances. Tonight, I watched S02E02, Mo and Sue's Story and was blown away by the dramatic performances of Anne-Marie Duff and Olivia Colman. A beautiful portrayal of the bond shared by two best friends, and the impalpable betrayal that is felt when they discover one of their sons has killed the others. Very brave and raw deliveries from both women. Seriously impressed. Beautiful cinematography by Keiran McGuigan (The Other Boleyn Girl). I am absolutely drinking this series up.

One of the best PSA commercials I have seen. This "Stand Your Ground" spot for the "Coalition to Stop Gun Violence" in America is based on an actual event in 2012 when a teenage boy was shot by a neighbourhood watch volunteer that worked in his gated community. I like the juxtaposition real the 911 calls made by the perpetrator and a neighbour witness, with cinematic and dramatic visuals. As an Australian having no knowledge of this event, I find this spot to be a very powerful and effective - a feat as a stand alone campaign, even if it wasn't based on real events. Love the cinematography and tone. It is poetic and disturbing at the same time. Written and directed by Floyd Russ.

The new @siafurler #sia music video for #chandelier is so good it hurts me. Literally made me cry. #australian #creative #talent represent. It's a @jakenava @beyonce kind of afternoon. #bowdownbitches Such a simple music video - one location, performance-based, one outfit only, etc - but elevated to the heights of music-video-heaven by the direction, edit and, of course, her #flawless performance. So much energy, both visually and in the performance. Great textures, simple but effective prod design, and love the decision to shoot it B&W. Love the off-the-shoulder camera movement. Best #breastcancer #awareness #campaign in years. Anthemic Australian song, with haunting vocal performances by Australia's best female artists…. But where is abbydobson? Best voice of them all, yet not featured in this. Boooo. I like this simple execution. Final shot is confronting and powerful. Nicely done! #itoutchmyselfproject

i-D and Diesel teamed up to create this video that demonstrates “The A To Z Of Dance”. From Ballroom to Twerk, the video shows people shaking their ass in Diesel’s new Jogg jeans, which are crafted using a denim/jersey mix

Denim + Jersey = #Joggjeans by Deisel.  EPIIIIIIIIIIC video. My dream brief. What a simple but effective concept. Love seeing some familiar dance faces in this. Hoorah for the dance community merging with film & advertising. R for Rumba is the best. Wish I could do that!

This is so clever and pretty. I wonder how long it will be until a telecommunications/ technology company 'appropriates' this idea in an advertising campaign.
