“Just remember though that it’s nothing, she was my ex-girlfriend and she is my ex for a reason and you are my girlfriend and I love you.” Colin hopes that was enough to reassure her that she was the one that he wants to be with, he cannot keep secrets from her, that’s why he revealed how he had seen his ex-girlfriend. It was a one time thing though, it won’t ever happen again. Colin smiled at her, drinking from his glass as well, he enjoy simple pleasures like this, him and Emma, just having breakfast and joking around. “I’m sure we can finish everything, with my appetite and yours as well.” He teased her, picking up another pancake from the center table, thinking about her question, “I was just going to work but I’ll call in sick, I needed a break and I miss you a lot so,” That was enough reason for him to miss work, maybe make up for hiding the fact that his ex-girlfriend visited him as well. “So, I’m all yours all day, we can do whatever you want to do.” He tilted his head at the side before smiling at her, “So, anything you wanna do?”

Smiling at the words, she leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I love you too. But I don’t mind if you see one of your exes.” Which was true, hearing him say his ex’s name in his sleep might have thrown her, but she wasn’t about to demand that he never see any of his ex’s. That wasn’t a sign of a good relationship. She trusted him, and that was the important thing. Plus, she liked to think that you could stay friends with some exes, and who was she to say he couldn’t spend time with friends? “Are you saying I eat a lot?” She asked, scoffing at the idea. She may have looked offended, but mostly she was teasing. She didn’t care about how much she ate, if she stayed healthy most of the time, what was a cheat day every so often? “Whatever I want to do? I can’t really think of much, beside going to the art gallery. Look at the pictures in amazement, pretending you could actually do something so amazing. Which I seriously can’t, art was never my strong point... But sometimes we all just need to delude ourselves into believing something, right?” She asked, before taking a bite of her pancake.

“I just want it to stop,” Parker told him as she hugged her knees, she wasn’t sure what she was talking about but she just wanted the longing, how her heart seems to be grasped when she sees him, she just wanted that to end. She loved, loves him a lot and she doesn’t know where they stand as of the moment. Are they even friends? What the fuck are they even? Alcohol was clouding her judgement, she knew that and it wasn’t good, she wiped the tears away from her cheeks before shrugging at Martin, raising her brow. “I just wanted to hear it from you again,” She told him looking up eagerly listening to what he has to say even if she knew that her question might end up hurting herself, but still, she was curious on what he has to say. “Why did you have to leave?” She was ready to hear about this again, that she was not an enough reason for him to stay, that he needed to go off wherever. She needed to hear it again because maybe when she does, she can move on from him, hate him enough to finally let go of her feelings but just looking at him standing there, being all concerned, deep inside, she knew that wasn’t happening.

At the question about why he left, he sighed softly, finally moving to sit down across from her. Making sure to keep enough distance between them that she didn’t feel uncomfortable, Martin tried to run through the answer in his mind. Getting the answer clear in his own mind, seemed necessary when he was supposed to explain it to her. “I felt like I had to.” He started, clasping his hands together to keep from fidgeting the way he always did when he was nervous. This was about her, not him. At least not at that moment. “Everyone else seemed to know what they wanted to do next, and I didn’t. I was just... There. Felt like people around deserved more than that. Mom deserved a son who knew what he wanted to do, that was going to do something important. And you? You just deserved... Better.” Which she did. As far as he was concerned, she deserved the best of everything, and that wasn’t him. Not when he wasn’t even sure who he was, she didn’t need to deal with that. He couldn’t stay and bring her down. Nor could he stay and bring his mother down somehow. “I’m sorry for hurting you.” It wasn’t what he had meant to do, but he couldn’t deny that he had hurt her – especially not looking at her in that moment.

“No,” Parker shook her head when he suggested that he should get one of her friends, because even how bad their situation is right now, the only person she wanted to be with, drunk or sober was Martin. And that sucks to admit that even how much she tried to move on from him, he was still the person she would rather spend her time with. “You know I hated you right?” She told him blinking her eyes a couple of times because the last thing she wanted to do was to cry in front of the man who left her, but this was the same guy who stood right next to her during the hard times of her life and she cannot erase that fact. “After two years,” She shook her head, finally meeting his eyes, those same ones she had fell in love with, “Because even after two years, I still waited for you to come back and now that you are here, the speech I made inside my head about how I hate you so much, that was left in the dust because as much as I hate you for leaving me, the part of me that still loves you, there’s more to that than the hate I felt.” She was drunk but she cannot be more honest than that, she loved him and she was still in love with him even if he left her.

As soon as the word ‘hated’ hit him, Martin couldn’t help but wince slightly. But this wasn’t about him, this was about Parker, and he had no right to be upset with what she had just said. “I thought you might.” He replied softly, having tried to prepare himself for that possibility. You couldn’t leave someone, and not expect there to be hurt feelings. Parker had every reason to hate him, and he had no reason to try and tell her why she shouldn’t. Not setting out to hurt her, didn’t mean that it wasn’t still his fault that she had been hurt. What he hadn’t expected to hear, was her next words. He didn’t have a response for that, because he had never anticipated ever hearing her say that. “I… Well I can’t say that I understand how you feel. I can try to put myself in your shoes and… It’s okay to be confused about everything?” It wasn’t said in the most confident tone, but that mostly stemmed from how unsure of everything he was in that minute. “I can understand why you’d hate me. I probably would if I was you, I guess part of me… Thought you would have some fairytale love when I came back. Someone who would make everything else better. That you wouldn’t be hurt anymore. Is there… Anything I can do to help?”

“I just,” Colin struggled to say something but stopped thinking of the right words to say, “I just thought I should have told you sooner,” There was nothing going on between him and his ex-girlfriend, to be honest, she was someone in his past but Emma was his present and future. It made him realize that there was no bitterness now that he had moved on from her, if you ask him months ago if he was mad at his ex-girlfriend, he would have said yes, but now, there was only forgiveness and that speaks about where he is in his life right now. “I wanted to tell you but I thought it might ruin your day and I already had a shitty one yesterday and I just needed you to see you smiling,” He was glad that Emma seems to understand, she wasn’t mad at him, he never knew how he got so lucky to with her. He watched her moving around the kitchen while he was already seated on his designated chair whenever he was around. “You should, babe, you need sleep,” He told her smiling, reaching out to tuck the hair that was over her face, “But first, let’s eat!” There was a feast right in front of them and they should just concentrate on that rather than anything else.

Smiling tightly when he mentioned thinking he should have told her sooner, Emma couldn’t help but silently wish he had. Then she might have not spent the night, wondering where exactly they stood. Or maybe that was something she needed to think about. To think about if she wanted them to move any further, or if this was all she ever wanted for their relationship. She just didn’t feel quite ready, to fully think about everything she wanted from their relationship. Not when things were so good between them, the way they were, even without labelling what their relationship happened to be. “I get it. Things like that… Well we need time to process them ourselves, before talking to anyone else about it.” She shrugged. And that much she did understand, that he would need some time to think about how he felt about everything. She just hadn’t known that the previous night, when she’d been a little too hurt by what he murmured. Nodding when he mentioned eating, she raised her glass up slightly. “Here’s to a good meal. Cheers!” She laughed softly, before picking up her cutlery. “Maybe we should invite another… Ten people over. Maybe then all the food would get eaten.” She joked, before taking a bite of her pancakes. Sure, it was an exaggeration, but joking made it easier to forget everything else. “Did you have any other plans for the day? Or was going to work all you had planned?”

Colin would have said it sooner but his nerves got the best of him, he thought by telling Emma that, she would flip and get mad at him but he didn’t expect this reaction, this made him feel better though. “Thank you, babe,” He mumbled as he moved towards her, kissing her forehead, he felt good that he managed to tell her the truth. There was nothing to worry about it anyway, he got over her and Emma was the only person who he can see spending his whole life with. He was even taking his work slow for her, he wasn’t going to let the stress of work get the best of him, he would spend time with Emma if he wanted to. “Yeah, I can do that,” He beamed at her, walking towards the cabinets to get the plates, he has been in her place a lot of times that he expertly knows where the plates, utensils are. Also grabbing the juice from the refrigerator, he poured some on both of their glasses. “Fresh orange juice is a fruit so I think it’s healthy,” He smirked, he wasn’t going to dwell on how it contains sugar, he was just having a good breakfast with his girl, that’s important compared to the calories he will have to burn from eating pancakes, bacon and fresh orange juice for breakfast.

“You don’t need to thank me.” She replied, wrinkling her brow in slight confusion. Just because she was a little upset by what had happened, didn’t mean that Colin had done anything that she had a right to be mad about. If anything, the fact he was still able to talk to an ex, should have made her feel more at ease. It normally did with everyone else she dated, since it meant that if she broke up with somebody she still wanted to be friends with – there was a chance that it might work out. She couldn’t work out, what it was about Colin saying his ex’s name that seemed to bother her so much – but that was her problem to work out, not his. Laughing at his comment about orange juice, she paused from plating up the food to glance over at him. “See? That’s why we get along so well! We’re on the same wavelength.” She laughed, putting the last bits of bacon into a dish before lifting the plates of pancakes and bacon and placing them in the middle of the table, so they could take however much they wanted. Going to get the syrup from the cupboard, she sat down at the table yawning slightly. “I should probably get a proper sleep schedule sometime, before I fall asleep in my food.”

Parker already knew that drinking that much was the worse idea, she can feel her stomach churning and might end up throwing up if she goes inside a speeding car. The cab driver would definitely not approve of her puking inside their car so there were only two things, either she finds a bag where she can throw up to while traveling home or she walks home, the second one was definitely not on the top choice, just thinking of it made her so tired. She just groaned as Martin’s statement, as if he cares about her going home safe when she was left on the same street when he went away to follow his dreams, there was no need to act like he was (though Parker was grateful that he was following her drunk ass around, ready to catch her if she falls to her face, maybe). She hated herself for the longest time, all along she thought that she was the reason why Martin left, maybe she drags him down, that’s why he had to go without her, or maybe he was getting strangled in the relationship. Though she might think of things like that, she knew what they had was not fake, they loved each other greatly that’s why she doesn’t understand why he left her, he was part of her dreams but unfortunately, she wasn’t on his. Brushing the hair off her face as she struggled to walk straight to the bench that he was talking about. Them trying to be friends was the worse thing, you cannot be just friends with someone you once thought you’d spend your life with. “Damn it,” She muttered definitely feeling emotional about Martin being back in town, it just opened up old wounds that she would rather forget about. Blinking her tears away, she managed to drag her sorry ass to the bench, slumping down, “I can manage to get a cab on my own.”

When Parker slumped down on the bench, Martin stood where he was, not entirely sure what his next move should be. She obviously was in no state to leave her alone, but he was obviously not the best person to keep her company. Not if he was the one who was making her feel so awful. But if he left, he wasn’t sure if she would get home safely. He could just about deal with her hating him, as long as she was safe. That was the only thing he cared about at that moment. “Do… Do you want me to go and get one of your friends?” He suggested eventually, his voice barely loud enough to hear. He knew that she had every reason to hate him, but he doubted they could ever fully cut the ties between them. For years, they were so important to each other, that it was hard to erase that. Which meant, that even if he had to swallow some of his pride and let one of her new friends help, that was just what he had to do. His feelings didn’t matter in that moment, and maybe he didn’t trust her new friends – but he was beginning to realize that she might let them help her. Whereas, the chances of her letting him help, were slim to none. “I just don’t think you should be alone right now, and I understand if you don’t want to be around me, but you need somebody.” He spoke softly, before looking back at where they had left her friends, mentally tying to work out which one was the most sober. Obviously nobody was able to drive, but somebody could at least share a cab with her, and that had to be better than letting her go by herself. Especially now that she seemed upset.

Parker scolded herself because she let that slipped, she doesn’t want him to know that she was still hurting, still bitter about how they parted ways. They had such a good relationship and she never thought it would have ended that way. That’s why she got mad. Their relationship deserves better than that excuse, she would always tell herself that it was okay, that he just wanted to look for that specific that he would excel in, his dream. And it did stung that in the dream he has, she wasn’t included. Maybe she had one, two, many drinks but at that exact moment, she doesn’t care, she was trying to have the time of her life, trying to rub it into Martin’s face that even if he left her, she was still there, happy, well, trying hard to be okay and it seems like she was already exaggerating. She was so close to falling with her face on the ground when she felt his hands on her, she scoffed, waving him off, “I’m okay, I’m okay,” She muttered, she has always been lightheaded, she knew how to control her alcohol intake but since she wanted to show him that she was enjoying life. “No, no, not Colin, he doesn’t know you’re back and he actually kinda hates you.” She admitted, glancing at him because she would like to see his reaction to that, they were close friends before but her brother choose to hate him because of what happened to their relationship. “Just get me a cab maybe? I don’t think I can drive.”

When Parker said that she was okay, he backed off a little but still kept close to her. Parker might have known the people around her, but Martin didn’t, and he wasn’t about to leave Parker while drunk. He cared about her too much, to just leave her without knowing for certain that she was going to be okay. It would have been different, if he could find somebody they both knew. Somebody that he could trust to keep Parker safe. Pausing when she mentioned Colin hating him, Martin couldn’t say that he was all that surprised by the fact. It might have stung, but Parker was obviously Colin’s priority, and that meant hating whoever hurt her. This time, it just happened to be Martin that had been the one to hurt Parker. “I can deal with that, as long as it meant you would get home safe.” The words might have had a tinge of regret to them, about the friendship he’d lost with her brother, but he was fairly certain he could handle whatever Colin decided to throw his way, because Colin was one of the few people, that Martin could trust to keep Parker safe. Apparently, he couldn’t trust himself to keep her safe, considering he was the one who had hurt her in the first place. “Yeah, I don’t think anyone would let you drive right now. I can call you a cab though, maybe we should head towards a bench, so you can sit down until it gets here?”

Colin smiled at her, he was not the perfect boyfriend but he tries his best to show her that he loves her. “A knight or a princess on the past life, none of that would matter, but in this life, we are Colin and Emma, that’s all that matters.” He pressed a small kiss on top of her head as he continued to make the pancakes, just by the smell of it, he was growing even more starving. Or maybe it was just his nerves getting into him, he finally had told her about his ex-girlfriend coming over, that felt good though, as if he had gotten rid of a small lump and now, he was just waiting for her reaction. “Just dropped by to say hello, you know, didn’t talk that long, maybe like five minutes, just talking about how life is going. That’s it,” He finally looked at her, hoping that she wasn’t mad at him, but it’s not like he did something wrong because he didn’t. “It’s no big deal, really, but I just wanted to tell you, don’t want to have secret looming between us,” He took a deep breath and exhaled, facing her, it was a great feeling, being honest to each other, “We’re good right?”

Smiling tightly when he mentioned not wanting to keep any secrets, Emma couldn’t help but feel a little guilty. It wasn’t as if she’d told him what he had said while he was sleeping, but she couldn’t see what good telling him would do. Without knowing it, he’d already explained why his ex was on his mind. And dreams were often just a person’s way of dealing with what had happened to them. She had no reason to doubt Colin, when he said that he had only had a short conversation with his ex, so the best course of action was simply to try and push it to the side. With time, she was certain she would forget all about it. Or, at the very least, that’s what she was hoping. “We’re good.” She smiled, leaning up to press a kiss to his cheek. “Although I am starving, and we’re nearly done food wise. I can finish up the rest of the cooking, if you can get out the plates and pour some drinks out. I think there’s orange juice in the fridge for something fresh. And we can kid ourselves that it’s all healthy that way.”

“We are definitely both knights,” Caleb nodded in agreement, his girlfriend was definitely strong, she wasn’t one of those people who would actually needing to be swept on her feet, she wouldn’t be that princess in the tower, not at all. “Though you’re not a princess locked inside the tower, you’re still my princess,” He winked at her, trying to be his usual charming self, he felt like earlier there was something wrong, not just with him or with Emma, but their relationship. He still felt guilty about not telling her that his ex-girlfriend came over yesterday but what was there to tell anyways? He was over her and she was just someone from his past that he has no intention of going back to, nothing would change between him and Emma even if his ex was around. “Okay, okay,” He agreed, taking a sip of the cup of coffee, looking at the batter, he lied, he would probably mess this up, he doesn’t really know how to flip a pancake but he would try his best to make it somewhat normal. “I’m very excited to eat the pancakes,” He smiled at her, he was not good at hiding things so he might as well tell her about it though it definitely doesn’t change anything. “Hmm, my ex-girlfriend came to visit me yesterday.”

Laughing softly as he spoke, Emma glanced over her shoulder with a smirk. “That was smooth, I won’t even protest to being your princess.” She spoke, trying to hold back her laugh. There was just something about Colin that made her relax, even when she wasn’t having a great day. It was one of the things she liked the most about him. Starting a new mix, Emma had walked up to the cupboard to get some extra chocolate chips out when she heard him mention his ex girlfriend. Glad for the fact she was facing away from him, Emma tried to keep a nonchalant look on her face as she turned back around. “How was that?” She asked, as calmly as she could. At least it made sense now why his ex was on his mind, but it still didn’t make her feel totally better. Not that she was bitter if he did want to go back to his ex, all she wanted was for him to be happy – even if that wasn’t with her. In fact, it might be easier to realize they weren’t going to work out now, opposed to when they both fell completely for each other. At least this point, they had a good shot at still being friends if they broke up.

“Yeah,” Parker smiled as she nodded, there was an elephant in the room but they obviously would leave that unaddressed, they were too busy pretending that everything was alright, they were alright with whatever this is, but it was better than to address the issue. She looked up at him and but let it slip, she doesn’t know why she asked but she did anyways, “So, your mom knew that you were leaving before you knew?” She asked, she just got to ask him about it, it might be the alcohol in her system or maybe she was just tired of pretending that everything was okay but there was no going back. She didn’t even wait for his answer because they were already with her friends, she did try her best to laugh along as they played beer pong, she admit, she was never good at this at all, throwing her racket on the ground, she groaned loudly, drunk, like she knew that tomorrow would bring a huge hangover and Colin wouldn’t appreciate cleaning up her vomit, “Oh fuck, you guys won, so what?” She asked them, she rubbed her hands all over her face, chuckling loudly, “Maybe we shouldn’t have done that? I’m going to need a cup of coffee now, where is the place that serves good coffee?” She nearly stumbled on her on foot as she tried to walk but luckily she held on the table, “I probably need help with walking.”

When she asked if his mother knew he was leaving before he knew, Martin felt as if he instantly sobered up. He knew that at some point, she wouldn’t be able to keep pretending that everything was fine, but he didn’t expect it at that moment. He was hoping for it all to come out later opposed to sooner, but he supposed that was selfish of him. Granted, he had been selfish in general lately, and it wasn’t as if he didn’t know that. Shaking his head, to try and bring himself back to reality, he walked over to the table with the brightest smile he could muster. Just because they weren’t having a great time at that moment, didn’t give him the right to ruin it for anyone else. Looking over at Parker after the game, he wished that he had known that she would be at the party. That way, he could have skipped it, and she might not be quite so drunk. Walking around the table, to try and help her balance, he didn’t care about everyone else around them. All he knew was that he had to help her in some way, and the only way he could do that was to get her home before something happened to her. “Do you want me to call Colin to come and pick you up?”

This is actually what Colin was in for, a mature relationship between two people who would do everything to make things work. He was in the age of looking for a partner that who would be there for the rest of his life, he was done sleeping around. A playful smile plastered on his face, though maybe she is right, they did something right during their previous life to actually meet each other now. “Maybe I was a mightly knight back then?” He suggested, raising his brow as he lined up the bacon on top of the pan, adding just a little bit of oil in it, bacon usually get cooked with its own oil anyways. “Just coffee, babe, please,” He smiled, flipping the bacon as it begun to sizzle, “Look at these beauties,” He mumbled underneath his breath, the bacon were slowly cooking and he’d like it extra crispy so he’d probably need to wait for a little bit before getting it out of the pan. He glanced at her, smiling, “Are the pancakes ready anytime soon or we’d have to wait for it a little bit? I can help you out, you know? Like maybe flip it or something, I’ll try my best not to distract you.”

“How about we were both knights in a previous life? Because I am totally up for accepting that you used to be a knight, but I don’t want to be the princess in the tower.” She spoke, pursing her lips at the end and turning her nose up slightly as if she had the upper hand. Which was silly, especially considering they were just playing along with a random topic of conversation. But it was making her feel better, this was who they were. People who didn’t mind showing their silly side around each other. People who trusted each other enough, to let some of their guards fall. Maybe she still had a wall built up after earlier, but she was sure she would talk to him about it sooner or later. She just had to work out what it was she wanted to say first. Because she didn’t want to seem like a crazy girlfriend who wouldn’t let him talk to others, because she wasn’t. She didn’t mind who he spoke to, because she trusted him to tell her if he didn’t want to be in the relationship anymore. It was just a messy situation. “You can make some of the plain pancakes, while I get the chocolate chips ones made up?”

Parker never imagined talking to Martin like this, she had been so hurt when he left her but as she always told herself, she was happy that he was trying to find out whatever he wanted to do in his life. But in the process of doing that, he cut her off, as much as she tries to convince herself that shouldn’t hurt, it does, a lot. “Nah, that wasn’t a really bad memory, thinking of it now, it’s quite funny.” She smiled at him, it was funny and it was a memory that she was supposed to share to their future kids but that isn’t happening now. “She’s something else, I cannot really level her energy even if I had a few cups of coffee.” She was so close to his mom that when he left, and she started not seeing her, she actually felt like she lost her own mother. Taking a pingpong ball, she threw it towards Martin, chuckling softly, “You’ve got yourself a deal, Mister, and don’t expect us to get hungry later one, if we win, you’re just going to stare at us while we’re eating.” She challenged him, considering how she already drunk earlier, her aim might be a little off but she would still try her best to win the game.

Martin had never thought acting was for him, but that was all he seemed to be doing around Parker. Part of him felt guilty for pretending so much around her, but it seemed better than showing how he was actually feeling. He wasn’t even entirely sure that he could handle how he felt, if he stopped pretending that everything was fine. Moving back home was hard enough, was admit that he had basically failed in what he wanted to. “It might be funny now… But hey, there’s no bad time for ice-cream right?” He smiled, wondering how they looked to everyone at the party. If anybody could tell how awkward the air around them was. “She is a pretty amazing women. I’m both lucky and unlucky I got her for a mother. Because she always seemed to know what I was going to do, before even I knew.” He joked, thinking that other people was a safe topic. Anything that didn’t involve them directly or their history, seemed to be a safe topic. Rolling his eyes dramatically as she spoke, he just shrugged and threw the small racket between his hands. “Game on then, Reed.” He smirked, before looking over at his partner with a small nod.

If there was one thing Colin would like to see, it was Emma always happy because she deserves all the happiness in the world, and if he could only give her everything, he would. He was always giddy whenever they are together, she just brought a whole new light in his life, for a long time there, he was suffering from a failed relationship, he has got to admit it that breaking up with his old time flame was not easy, he thought he would end up marrying her but things just didn’t go as planned. What they say is right though, when one door closes, another one opens up. He couldn’t help but snort when she mentioned about his bacon not going to disappoint, he raised his brow at her before laughing quite loudly, “Do not worry, babe, my bacon wouldn’t disappoint.” He told her, walking inside the kitchen, he watched her expertly going through the kitchen for some ingredients for the pancakes. “Yeah sure, whatever you want to make,” He smiled, walking towards her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder before pressing a small kiss on her forehead. “What did I do to deserve someone like you eh?”

Closing her eyes when Colin pressed a kiss on her forehead, Emma smiled softly. Things may not be perfect between them, but at least in that moment she could pretend that they were. Not that she really wanted a perfect relationship. In Emma’s mind a perfect relationship wasn’t realistic, if things seemed perfect you were just pretending. Relationships could get messy, people argued since nobody could get along all the time – but there could be perfect moments. And standing in the middle of her kitchen with Colin was definitely one of those moments. It was one she needed after hearing him say his ex’s name. “Maybe you save an entire village of people in a previous life… Or maybe I was the one who save an entire village and got to meet you as a reward.” Things were still new between them, and she had no idea if things would get more serious between them – but they didn’t have to for him to have been an important person in her life. He was already an important person in her life, and nothing would change that. Pulling away she went to the cupboards to get the ingredients that they needed, before glancing over her shoulder at him. “Do you want anything to drink?”

“Oh God,” Parker laughed softly as she remembered that time when she and Martin to a rave once and she ended up crying. “Do you remembered that time when I actually got lost in the rave, and I was nearly in tears because I cannot find you?” Parker chuckled, those good, old times that she shouldn’t really bring up, but she did anyways because she cannot help it, it was memories of those fun times that they have and she cannot just ignore the fact that it happened. She shook her head looking down, stopping herself from smiling too much, she does that a lot when Martin is with her, she noticed. “Yeah, she’s too active, I cannot even keep up with her energy.” She loves spending time with his mom, she seems to be more than just a mom but like a friend as well, it was nice to be around people like that, she understands her sentiments in life in which sometimes her parents doesn’t. “I guess, I should be on opposing team right? Since you’re really good with this, I’ll partner up with Reid, he’s a self-professed mater in beerpong and so you are,” She walked on the opposite end of the table next to her friend, another one partnered with Martin so they were good to go. “Prepare to lose, if we win, you guys definitely need to get us In-N-Out.”

Nodding as she spoke, Martin couldn’t help but think back on that night – and how much he apologised for somehow managing to lose her and making her cry. “I remember. I also remember buying you the biggest tub of ice-cream that I could find the next day because I felt s bad about it.” Looking back, it was a stupid thing to feel bad over, mostly because now he had a valid reason to feel guilty. But he had to push those thoughts from his mind, if he didn’t it would only make both of their night’s awful. “I’m seriously starting to consider the fact she has more caffeine than blood in her body, it’s the only way she can stay so active for so long.” He spoke, frowning slightly as he did so. It was mostly a joke, but there were a few nights (mostly after he’d been drinking) that he honestly thought it could be true. Introducing himself quickly to the person who was apparently going to be his partner for the game, he rolled his eyes at Parker’s words. “I hope you’re prepared to eat those words. Otherwise you’ll be hungry for the rest of the night considering we’ll win, and you won’t have any In-N-Out, right?” he asked, glancing over at his partner. It may have sounded a little cocky, but it wasn’t as if he was actually that confident in his skills. He simply liked making things more dramatic than they had to be, it made the whole thing seem more fun.

Colin wouldn’t consider himself as sweet but damn, when it comes to Emma, he’d become this other person who would literally do fluffy things for her. Like cuddling. He wouldn’t have done it if it wasn’t for her, or going on dates that was too early, he wouldn’t have put an effort in waking up early if not to see her face. “Oh come on, babe, it’s true.” He teased her, if there’s one thing that would brighten his day, it would be Emma’s smile so seeing her like the world had crush, that was something else and she doesn’t want to her like that ever. “To the kitchen, we go!” He repeated, letting her drag him into the kitchen before nodding at her suggestion about having bacon as well. “Yeah, that’s great, who can say no to bacon and pancake right? I’d make the bacon and you make the pancake?” He knew that they can work as a team when it comes to cooking, “I don’t want to brag or anything but my bacon would blow your mind.” He smirked at her, if it was someone else he’d say that statement to, it might actually be a bit dirty but considering it’s just Emma, he knew that he literally meant bacon but not something else.

The more time she spent with Colin, the more she felt stupid for getting so upset about what he had said in his sleep. He always seemed to find ways to cheer her up, but the thing was he wasn’t even trying to. Colin being himself was enough to put a smile on her face, so when he said ‘to the kitchen, we go’ she couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. Because that was the Colin she knew. That was the Colin that she could see herself truly falling for. What’s more – that was the Colin she was sure liked her. Not love, because things between them were still new – but all she really needed to know was that he was willing to give them a chance. If he wasn’t, it would just seem like wasted time. “Now I hope your bacon doesn’t disappoint… Because I am imagining something amazing right now. And if you take that away from me, I will not be happy.” She tried to joke, as she started to gather the ingredients to make the pancakes. “I think I have some chocolate chips… If you want I can make some normal pancakes to go with the bacon – and then make some chocolate chip ones for later? If you’re taking the day off work, you should get some treats.”

Parker wasn’t even sure why she invited Martin to where her friends are, maybe because even after all of those years, she still considers him as a friend. They were bestfriends before they started out the relationship anyways so they can always go back to that because their relationship didn’t work. “I guess, this is my definition of a great party, just chilling and drinking, just having fun.” She needed to let loose herself, she has been quite stressed the past couple of days because of university so this party was supposed to relax her more than anything, not to stress her all over again but that’s just the case since Martin was there. “I think she is actually, like she’s is your mom but I think she’ll beat you if you have this jogging competition,” She sipped on her water before stopping in front of her friends, they might be wondering how she managed to snatch someone just by getting water, but then again they don’t know the past her and Martin had. “Martin thinks he’s the best in beer pong, I’m sure we can prove him wrong right?” She smirked, just trying to be friendly and all, as much as she’d like to hate Martin for leaving her, she cannot do that, he wanted to pursue his dreams and there’s nothing more that she wants than him finding what he really want to do.

“You always were more of the chill type of person, than a rave type of person. Kind of find it hard to imagine you in the middle of a hardcore rave.” Martin joked, only slightly mentally kicking himself for the comment. He’d tried to stay away from their past, but he couldn’t pretend as if he didn’t know her. He’d spent years, knowing her as much as he knew himself. He may have even known her more than he knew himself. Which sounded cliché, but given he didn’t know all that much about himself it was true. “Mom would definitely win. I think she’s part robot or something, only way to reason why she’s so energetic and I’m so… not.” Martin wasn’t lazy exactly, but he also had nowhere near the energy his mother had. Sometimes he’d get tired just hearing about how much his mom tried to fit into the day. “I’d be more than happy to renounce that title if anyone beats me though. It just never hurts to have a little bit of confidence.” He shrugged after Parker’s comment. Picking up one of the paddles, he tossed it mindlessly between his hands before glancing back up at Parker. “What do you say? Want first try at trying to get the title? If you manage to win I’ll… I’d say buy you a drink but nobody seems to be charging for those. So if you win – you get to pick the prize.”
