Brooklyn got a fright when the door opened and suddenly the two of them weren’t close anymore. She bit down on her lip, clasping her hands and feeling like she’d gotten caught doing something wrong even though… had she? Brooklyn sighed, looking at Amelia and giving a little shrug. “Um… see you later.”

Admittedly Amelia already missed the closeness from Brooklyn. And hopefully this didn’t blow her chances or anything like that. Hearing Emma, she knew she was in trouble. But she wasn’t understanding why? Nodding her head at her mother’s words. “Yeah, okay.” She sighed some, looking back towards Brooklyn. “I’ll see you later. Call me? Or text me?” @emmaxwilliamson​

It wasn’t that Emma was upset about the fact that Amelia was about to kiss another girl. Maybe it was the fact that she was about to kiss Brooklyn considering her history with Imogen and their current affair. Made things a little bit awkward. “If your mother gets home let her know I’ll be back. Brooklyn let’s go, kiddo.” @littlebrooklynmatthews​

Noelle looked back at Emma, smiling lightly. “Hi…” She returned the greeting with a little nod. She wasn’t entirely sure how to act or what she was supposed to say but she’d known that being here meant she was likely going to run into Emma at some point, hadn’t she? “How.. are you?”

It was always awkward running into your exes even though Emma, was still very much friends with Imogen and more. But Noelle was different. “Busy, busy. The twins keep me running around and so does the busy schedule of being the Mayor. What about you? How long are you in town for?”

Imogen smiled a little as she looked over at her. “I think he did.” She told her. Emma was great at whatever she put her mind to. Imogen glanced down as Emma said she wanted to get her thoughts and then shrugged a little. “I think you should do what feels right but be careful because.. some of these people are really shady.”

Emma looked back at her, her hand still held onto hers. “I will be careful. You know me I’m always careful.” The redhead teased lightly. Given her past, they both knew better. Hell she had been stabbed to make sure Imogen and Brooklyn were okay. And she would do it again. “I think he just needs help taking out this secret council and you know me I don’t back away from a challenge.” Glancing down at their hands for a moment, before back up to Imogen.

Nina smiled. “Perfect!” It sounded like the perfect night. “What should we order?” She wondered, moving to pick up her phone so she could order them something. She leaned in to kiss Emma gently again and then moved to slip her shoes off.

Emma smiled back at her. Yes, she still loved her wife and she felt bad about the affair with, Imogen. “Totally thinking pizza. I know we don’t usually junk out on that but I totally miss it.” She kissed her back gently, moving to take off her shoes as well.

Imogen looked back at Emma and thought that it all sounded pretty sketchy and risky but it’s not like it was her place really. “Well, I guess I can’t blame him for that…” She knew it was pretty corrupt but… ugh. She pressed her lips together when she mentioned Nina and nodded. “I’m sure she’ll be supportive of whatever you wanna do…”

Taking risks was in fact something that Emma liked to do even though she took less risk nowadays but still she liked to take some. “I just hope he picked the right person for the job.” She did her best to try and at least make the blonde smile a little bit. “You are probably right. She usually is. I just..I wanted to get your thoughts on it. I value your thoughts and opinions on things.”

Brooklyn’s smile grew a little as she looked back at Amelia, thinking she was pretty. She breathed in when Amelia tucked some hair behind her ear and something just caused her to shift a little and start leaning in to close the space between them.

Just as Amelia was about to lean in further and close the distance between them, the door opened. And the redhead jumped back a little bit. “Mum, wasn’t expecting you home so soon.” She cleared her throat a little bit because honestly she hadn’t been expecting her mother. Neither of them actually. So she was glad that it was just Emma.

Emma walked inside, and the moment that she stepped into the living room that was when she saw them. Brooklyn and Amelia almost kissing! Fuck. That was bad considering everything. So she cleared her throat which made Amelia jump back a little bit. “It’s getting late. How about I drive Brooklyn home and Amelia we will talk about this after I get back.” @littlebrooklynmatthews

Imogen looked back at Emma, quite surprised honestly. “Mayor?” She bit her lip a little as she thought. That was pretty huge. She moved carefully, taking Emma’s hand with a little smile. “Are you… going to take it?”

“Yeah, he wants to help me take down some secret council that runs the town and give it back to the people so to speak.” It was pretty huge, smiling back at her. She still held onto her hand. “I’m totally thinking about it. I still have to run it by Nina, see what she says.”

Nina smiled lightly. She hoped that Emma really was okay like she said, but she didn’t want to push her wife at all. She chuckled, leaning in and kissing her back. “I say we order some take away, we turn off the lights, and we spend the night together…. maybe even take a bath.” She chuckled, thinking that she needed just some time to unwind with her beautiful wife and Emma could probably use a breather.

Emma smiled back at her, she was fine. She was always fine. Smiling against her lips, she kissed her once again. “Mhmm..you know what? I like that idea a lot actually. So I’m with you on the take away, turn off the lights and just spend our night together and a bath sounds really good.” That was all she wanted to do unwind with her wife right now.

The redhead had to give them an answer. Eric had a plan, he wanted her to become the Mayor without the secret council. That was now ran by himself and several other people. She wanted to give the town back to the people and he supported that. Maybe it was because of how long  they had known each other or something. Nina was watching the twins and she still had yet to talk to her about this. Their whole lives were about to change because well Emma was going to accept this job. “So your husband has decided to ask me to be Mayor.” She just assumed that Imogen knew about the council because it didn’t seem like there were much secrets between the Matthews anymore. She walked in front of her in the woods. Moving over a hill, she held her hand out to Imogen this way she wouldn’t fall or anything like that. “Watch your step, love.”

“I’m just glad to be home with you.” Nina smiled back at her, scanning Emma’s face. At least she didn’t have to be in tomorrow. She nodded at the idea of getting Wyatt to work there. “Actually, that’s a pretty good idea. We should sit him down and run it by him. I think it could be good for him.” She nodded. “Are you doing okay?” Nina knew Emma had a lot on her shoulders right now and she just hoped she was handling it all alright. “Well, we better make the most of our alone time then.” She chuckled, pushing the text message out of her mind. It was just kids mucking around, wasn’t it? Everyone knew the rumours after all…

“I understand that. It seems like our schedules keep getting busier every minute. So I am definitely glad to be home with you.” Emma smiled back at her. The redhead could certainly push back some meetings if Nina wanted to spend the morning together or just work from home. “I agree it would be good for him, he needs something especially after Allie. I’m worried..he’s just so angry lately.” It was a Baker family trait the anger. And maybe a little bit of Duncan as well but mainly it was a Baker thing. “I’m okay, love. Promise.” She didn’t want her wife to worry.  “Oh I completely agree.” The redhead moved over her, wrapping her arms around Nina. “Come here.” Leaning in, she pressed her lips to hers, kissing her softly.

Nina turned in the direction of the voice with a smile, making her way through to the kitchen. She lingered in the doorway while Emma finished up on the call and just looked back at her. “Hey.” She chuckled, moving further into the room and pressing a kiss to her wife’s lips before she went straight for the kettle. “Long.” She laughed. “Everyone seems to be calling into the restaurant sick with the flu right now. What did you get up to? Are the kids out?”

Emma kissed her back gently, with a small smile on her lips. “I’m sorry, my love.” Moving after her, she rubbed her back gently before turning to grab two cups for tea. “We should make Wyatt, get a job there. Might help him with everything. I know he has football training soon. But will also teach him how to juggle things.” She shrugged a little bit. “Just work stuff. I’m trying to figure out what to tell Eric tomorrow, I have to check in on the Call Centre and I have a couple afternoon meetings. They are I believe so it’s just us here.”

“What a day.” Nina muttered as she moved into the house, looking around but there was no sign of the twins or Emma. The car was there though. “I’m home, love!” She called out, shrugging herself out of her coat.

“Kitchen, babe.” Emma called out. “No, not you. I was talking to Nina. Move my meeting to ten, and push my meeting with Eric to after one and fax that one paper in as soon as you get there.” She held up a finger to her wife. “I have to go to the call centre after my meeting with Eric. Alright, well I will see you tomorrow. Have a good night.” The redhead hung up her phone, and placed it onto the counter. Taking a deep breath, she let it out before her attention went to her wife. “Hi, love. How was your day?”

There were a few things in Emma’s life that she regretted, hurting Imogen was always going to be one of them. “I love you..” She always had even when the blonde married Eric. That just would never change no matter what. “Yeah, or maybe he is more like me then what I care to admit.” All she knew was Duncan and what he had done to her. And then killing him. There was so much rage when she had killed him. “Which is not a bad thing at all.” Nodding her head a little bit. “I hope you are right about that.” Looking back at her, she kissed her back gently when she felt Imogen’s lips against her own. 

After all that happened, Imogen had never quite been able to let go of Emma and what they’d had with each other, even though she of course absolutely did love Eric. Imogen’s feelings were usually quite complicated and twisty. She was someone so full of love that she usually didn’t know quite where to put it all or how to contain it. “I love you too..” She smiled lightly, though she knew she shouldn’t say it - not like this anyway - not with Eric and Brooklyn at home. Imogen was sure that Wyatt would come around and he just needed some time. She focused on kissing Emma back, eyes drifting closed as she pressed herself a little closer.

Letting go of Imogen had never been an option for, Emma. She couldn’t even after they both were married and had families. Yes, the redhead loved her wife and children but she also would always love Imogen. There was a smile that graced Emma’s lips when she hears Imogen’s response. This was wrong especially knowing that they both had families at home waiting for them. But she couldn’t help herself. Her own eyes drifted close as she deepened the kiss between them, and moved her hand from her cheek to Imogen’s waist. Shifting a little bit this way she was now on top of her.

It still caused a great deal of pain - of course it did. “Really?” Imogen remembered not liking Jackson and she hadn’t really had too many run ins with Duncan which she was happy about now, and Freya had kidnapped her brother, so the whole family seemed crazy, like their family line was tainted in some way, but of course she didn’t say that. “Yeah, Daniel totally is more Ford.” Imogen agreed, looking back at her “I’m sure he just needs time.” She said, looking quietly back at Emma before being unable to help herself from leaning in to kiss her.
