Ruby grinned and looked down at the table, keeping herself from laughing too loudly. She looked back up at Emmett, shrugging lightly. “I’ve just never been somewhere so fancy. Guys usually take me to the bar or the diner if they don’t know granny.” Ruby laughed as she shook her head. “Those dates are always the worst.”

"I'm not that insane," Emmett replied, shaking his head. "I quite like my junk fully attached, thank you," he added with a wink and a wide grin. "Though, phase two might include some dancing..." he drawled. "Besides, like I said before...you deserve the best, Rubes."

"There’s gotta be something," she replied. "A hidden door or a secret compartment or some—" As she looked at the floor, she noticed scratch marks on the ground perpendicular to the coffin. "Skid marks?" Then realization dawned on her. She rounded the coffin and began to push.

Emmett watched her with a skeptically raised eyebrow, cocking his head to one side and shoving his hands in his pockets. "Gretch, what the hell are you doing?"

"Well I believe she’s storing people’s hearts here and plans to kill them any day now." She looked around the room. "There’s gotta be a door somewhere."

Emmett rolled his eyes, trying to ignore how utterly absurd this entire situation was. "Alright," he drawled, deciding to play along, "Well, there's nothing here but a casket, Gretchen."

She laughed, blushing as she followed behind Emmett. “Does Phase two involve clothes at all?” Ruby smiled as she sat down. “Such a gentleman. Thank you.” She grinned and placed the napkin on her lap. “That’s what I do right?”

"Yes," he replied with a chuckle, "Phase two involves clothes...phase three, however..." Emmett drawled with a smirk, lifting his eyebrows briefly. He nodded at her thanks, laughing again at her question. "Yes, Rubes. That's what you do. Relax, though. You're not gonna get kicked out if you use the wrong fork, or something. Just enjoy it."

Upon reaching the cemetery, she pulled a bobby pin out of her hair. There was a lock on the door to the mausoleum, so she picked it easily before entering. Looking around, she wondered where her heart was.

Sneaking up behind Gretchen, he whispered harshly, looking around cautiously, "What the hell are we doing here, Gretchen? You're the sheriff....I'm the deputy and this is definitely against the law."

Gretchen bit her lip. “I know, but…I can prove it,” she realized, moving in the direction of the cemetery. She remembered one of the visions she’d seen. Her heart…it was…it was in Regina’s vault.

Emmett grumbled softly but followed behind her, silently rolling his eyes. This whole thing was ridiculous, a waste of time, but if she insisted...

Gretchen sighed. “I know it sounds crazy, but…I remember now.” She looked up at him, her eyes pleading for him to believe her.

His face clenched at the plea in her eyes, shaking his head. "Gretchen, this is crazy. I'm not some saviour meant to 'bring back the happy endings', or whatever. And my parents left me on the side of the road, they're definitely not my age."

Ruby automatically pushed back against his hand, smiling lightly as she felt his fingers against her skin. She looked around the room, realizing that she wasn’t dressed up enough for the restaurant. Ruby looked over her shoulder, smiling back at Emmett as she whispered “You didn’t tell me it would be this fancy.”

He chuckled softly, giving her a charming smile. "You look fantastic, stop worrying. Besides, this is only phase one...Phase two isn't nearly as formal," he assured, grabbing her hand and following behind the receptionist. When they were at their table, Emmett pulled out Ruby's chair, giving her a wink.
