Something was off in the spring court, Lucien was sent out to deal with the issue. Many had assumed that some sort of unwanted creature had wandered in somehow getting by Tamlins wards, however this quickly shown not to be the truth.
It was a dark day in the spring court, relatively cold and raining when Lucien spotted the broken female. The young girl was slumped against a tree with what looked to be like blood dripping from cuts on her face and a big gash on her stomach.
Lucien hopped off his horse quickly leaving behind the other men with him to go check on the girl.
"Stay here and keep watch" Lucien demanded scared that this could be some sort of messed up trap.
The red haired man dropped into a crouch beside the injured female inspecting her closely. Her head was sagging forward when he brushed her hair back behind her ears, when he was fianlly able to see her eyes he realized that she was in fact conscious.
The tiny woman looked up at the autumn court male with glassy eyes, she looked as though she was fighting to stay awake. When the pairs eyes met Lucien knew, knew that this is what he was ment for, protecting this young girl.
Without a word Lucien scooped up her small frame in his arms and carried her back to where the horses were waiting, he quickly mounted the horse with the girl still in his arms. Without a second to waste the scouting group raced back to the castle.
-
Lucien had made the trip back to the castle within four hours rather than the whole day it normally took. As soon as they were within the walls of Tamlins estate Lucien finally felt some sort of relief, he had spent the whole ride back checking on the girl constantly.
The autumn court male jumped off his horse and raced off into the large house, upon entering he made immediate eye contact with Tamlin.
Tamlin gave him a questioning look, silently asking who the injured girl was. Too that Lucien had no answer so he remained silent while he cleared a table and placed the fragile girl down.
"We need a healer.. now, please hurry" Lucien raced out frantically.
"Who is she? What happened?" Tamlin started questioning but once again Lucien had no answer.
"Im not sure, but please just get a healer" He was loosing patience by the second due to the fact he was scared for the girl.
Tamlin silently winnowed away and returned within less than a minute with a healer. The healer carefully looked the girl over and began working quickly. Whilst the healer was doing her job Lucien explained to Tamlin what he knew.. which wasnt much.
Due to the energy the injured girl had used to keep herself awake and breathing she fell asleep rather quickly after the healer was done making it impossible for the spring court men to ask her any questions.
-
Two days passed when she finally opened her eyes, she was scared and unaware of where she was. She looked around surveying the large bedroom she was staying in. The walls were a soft green with dark green accents and bright white furniture scattered across the room. Within one of the white armchairs sat Tamlin who silently watched her until she noticed him.
When they locked eyes Tamlin felt a wave of warmth wash over him, she was the sweetest thing he had ever seen. "What is your name?" He asked quickly, now eager to learn as much as he could about the tiny girl.
"Y-y/n" She answered timidly, "you are?" she herself curious as too who the man sitting across from her was, he was undeniably handsome.
"Tamlin, High Lord of the spring court" he answered smoothly with a slight smirk at his title. "Do tell y/n, what happened that left you so hurt?"
"I- my father, he kicked me out of my home and forced me to cross over the wall... I was wandering for a little when I got attacked, im not sure by what. I-I blanked out" y/n rushed out the words quickly.
Tamlin nodded in understanding before getting up and winnowing away to find Lucien. Y/n was shocked due to the fact the male in front of her had disappeared into thin air completely clueless on what winnowing was.
-
Lucien was waiting in the study for Tamlin impatiently, he felt like he was going crazy.
"Her name is y/n" Tamlin said as he appeared behind Lucien, the autumn court male turned around so quickly he almost lost his balance. But her name.. y/n..
"Did she say what happened? Why she was in Prythian? What did she say?" Lucien was going a mile a minute and was ready for answers, it had been keeping him up the past few nights.
"Her father" Tamlin spoke with a touch of anger "forced her to enter through a gap in the wall after kicking her out, she said she wandered for a while until she was eventually attacked" the High Lord tried his best not to show his frustration but it slowly started slipping through his facade.
Tamlin was angry, angry at the girls father, angry that she had been attacked but mostly due to the fact that he wasnt able to stop this, wasnt able to protect the girl he really knew nothing about.
That would change him and Lucien would make sure of it, she was now apart of the spring court and they were willing to do whatever they could if it meant keeping her out of harms way and protecting her.
Lucien didnt voice it but he was thinking the exact same thing as Tamlin, they had come to an agreement without even speaking on it.. they would protect her through thick and thin.
-
That night the emissary and high lord sat at the dinner table and watched as the frail girl now known as y/n quietly treaded over to her seat across from Lucien.
Despite the fact that these men had saved her she was still extremely shy, she wasn't sure if it was because they were both rather handsome of if was because they were fae or rather high fae.
The boys recognized her shyness as fear and were upset by it, why would she be scared of them? They saved her and were going to keep her safe forever and always from that point on.
At this point y/n had been introduced to Lucien and given background on her new home and who both of the men were as well as their rolls they played within the court.
They ate dinner silently besides that occasional chatter between Tamlin and Lucien as well as a rare question or two directed towards little y/n.
-
It had now been a week or so since y/n arrived at the manor and was slowly adjusting, a routine almost set up.
Everyday she would go for walks through the many gardens that littered the estate with Tamlin. They would create small talk while gazing at the almost unreal plants that were in almost every corner of the land.
Afternoons were reserved for Lucien however, every day she would go to the stables with the autumn court man and meet the horses and occasionally get to ride them.
The one thing in common between these two? They never took their eyes off of their girl and they were never planning on it. They watched her like a hawk for her own safety or at least thats what they told themselves.. Tamlin refused to let her wander off even for a few minutes without him out of fear she might be attacked again. While at the stables Lucien constantly was on the look out for any stable boys who dared to look at her in the wrong way or linger to close to the small girl.
This was how it would be from now on, the boys had a new purpose in life.. protect y/n at all costs. They were not willing to let go of the sweet girl now that they had her, she was theirs and they were hers wether or not she knew it. She was never leaving them...
