emmy hated group projects, she preferred to do everything on her own. she thought all of this was a waste of time. she’d been paired with evan on a history project, she’d never really spoke to evan before - only in passing. but she didn’t want to do much work on this project, so she gave him the most sickly sweet smile she could muster as the sat in the library together. “soooo...where do you want to start?” she asks, tucking some hair behind her ear.

she'd been out with her friends and had left her keys at home, her phone died. emmy didn't know what to do, so she knocked on some random person’s door and was greeted with a topless tristan. of course, she didn't mind that, a grin graces her lips. “it’s three o’clock? i had no idea” she replies, “look dude --- it’s a long story but can i crash on your sofa tonight. pretty please?”.

maybe it was brits, maybe it was just emmy in particular. but without fail, whenever ricky sent out a mass text to his closest friends asking to make plans, emmy was always the one who was down to drink and smoke and generally just have a good time. his observations told him that it was probably because she was so far from home and could finally let loose, and he was proud to be around to witness such a development. 

he takes the beverage and knocks back a swig before placing it down beside him, his hand still wrapped around the neck of the bottle. as much as he was fun and reckless, he was still (as always) protective over his friends and what if emmy got too drunk too quickly? surely she hadn’t gotten all that used to drinking yet? he kept the bottle at his side, figuring she’d just focus on the warmth and merriness she was obviously feeling and not feel the need to drink as if it was a race. she was an amusing drunk to watch, it was like looking in a mirror. he knew that connor was the only person she’d ever call brother, but ricky really did feel like he’d found the younger sibling he never had. “we should drink more often! i’ll drink with you whenever you want” he burped, a little intoxicated himself.

sometimes emmy found it hard to be herself when she was at home, of course, she loved her parents. but they weren't really her parents, were they? they just raised her. her real parents were out there somewhere, living their lives and that confused the shit out of her. she liked hanging out with the punks, they felt like family, like home. 

emmy was a small girl, she got drunk quickly. she was a lightweight, that’s just thow things worked. the girl didn’t really care, she enjoyed it. she liked being drunk, she felt ten times more confident when she was drunk. like she could take on the world. although she knew that connor would have to come and pick her up soon. she’d be sick out of the side of the car window and she wouldn’t feel so good anymore. she giggles, “yay! thank - you ricky, i’d like that” she grins at him. he was a sweetheart, she liked him a lot. “sooooo! how are you? hows things?” she asks.

when the girl spoke emmy couldn't help but laugh, her comeback game was weak.  “remember when someone asked for your opinion? no? me neither” emmy shoots back to the girl. she’d seen the blonde around school, she was from the other side of the tracks of course. emmy didn’t have time to deal with girls like her. “fuck off.  no! i’m enjoying myself, i’m gonna keep on shitting actually...”

jaime nodded his head along to what the girl had been saying, only half paying attention to any of her words. “not all of us have parents, but–” he noted, a little darkly if anything, “–I don’t see what’s so wrong with spring break.” with a sigh, he shrugged, “is there actually a reason you’re ranting about spring break or like are you avoiding talking about why spring break actually bothers you? feels like you’re a little jealous, if anything.” 

emmy chewed down on her bottom lip as the male spoke, "shit yeah" she muttered. that thought hadn't entered her mind when she spoke, emmy didn't really think before she spoke most of the time. “i never said there was anything wrong with it, i just think its dumb that’s all” emmy replies, “like if you wanna go to hawaii and spend a week getting pissed, come back not remembering anything -- that’s fine by me” another shrug of the shoulders. a laugh leaves emmy’s lips, “who are you? my therapist?! i’m so not jealous” she shakes her head.

emmy giggles at her brother's silly accent, they often ended up doing this. she enjoyed spending time with her brother, she wished she could see him more. "for sure! it’ll be so totally awesome.  i  can’t wait!”  emmy replies, trying to do her own accent.  she nods her head in agreement, “oh yeah! they’ve gotta let their thousands of insta follwers that they probs bought that they still have a better life than them”. emmy shakes her head, she didn’t know why her brother was being like that, he didn’t need to worry. she was fine. “well, we do have things planned. but they aren’t aloud to leave the confines of the punks lunch table, so you’ll never know” she flashes him a grin, teasing him a little.

Connor and Emmy were born in London England, they spent most of their childhood there. They were born to Tom Hughes and Christine Smith, their relationship was like Romeo and Juliet. Tom was born on the wrong side of the tracks, a dodgy part of London, he met Christine the daughter of a rich business man, on a night out and the pair got on like a house on fire. They were soon seeing each other everyday and one day Christine found out she was pregnant. Yikes. She told her parents and they were against it. It would look bad due to their families social status, so once the kids were born their mum had to put them up for adoption. 

That’s when Adam & Kate come in, two americans who were living in the UK at the time. the two were trying to have kids but couldn’t. So they looked to adopt instead, they came across Connor & Emmy, they didn’t want to split the two up, so they adopted them together. They were planning on spending the rest of their lives in the UK but had to move back to America due to Adam’s work. 

Emmy is currently looking for her real parents, Connor has decided not too. Emmy won’t get a warm welcome from her real parents though as the two fell out many years a go due to the adoption of the two of them. Christine has since moved on and married a man her parents have approved of, Connor and Emmy do have some half siblings they are unaware of.

emmy was really turning into a rebellious american teenager, she was drinking with her friends. she still thought the drinking laws were silly here, she hadn’t got used to living in america yet. even though it had been three years, she didn’t think she ever would. at heart she was a UK girl and she wished she was back in london. emmy takes a large gulp of drink and passes it along to ricky, she did like ricky though. even though she knew that her twin brother didn’t, but who cares what he thought. “fuck. this is some good shit --- we should drink this more often” she tells the male.
